You did an absolutely fantastic job Mike! Really cool singing!
And this song is still great, no matter the version - this a pretty good one too, in the "radio-hit" way of putting it, though the other one is more heartfelt, more touching and convincing.
@analogic10 Thank you very much Ana for another insightful comment. I agree -- this version is not bad in that "radio-hit" sort of way, but the original version is how I wrote the song. Thus, that's probably why you feel it is more heartfelt, touching & convincing. Have a wonderful evening & coming week ... Mike
omg!!!! didn´t realise this *new version* is pretty awesome as well!!!!! :D YOU have a great voice Mike!!! God bless YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU so much and keep doing great music!!!!
@EowynLis Thank you once again Odi -- yeah, the original TW was considered a little too long for radio, so this was what happened after some industry pros kind of re-did it. It's a long story as to why, but I never tried to sell this version. But, what I like about it is the fact that the studio techs -- and some grammy award winners involved with the project -- really pushed me vocally because this version was more challenging to sing at the faster tempo. Thanks again -- you are so kind! Mike
@2IceCantata As always -- thank you Itchy Knee. You are so kind and supportive and I truly appreciate your wonderful comment. BTW -- you know much more about music than you think. In fact, you seem to always pick the perfect music for your videos -- which are amazing. So, don't be so humble -- an MTG command :) *---*
both versions are awesome!!! this one may have an edge on the vocals (pushed it successfully here!) but neither is really better...when you got good music, it's good no matter what! keep recording!!!
@lalocacubanita Thank you so much -- you are very perceptive. The difference here was the fact that I was working with real pros (Grammy winners) -- in a top notch studio (Raschall Flatts recorded a few songs from their last album in it) -- and they pushed me vocally not to hold back -- and well, I just let it rip. You have an excellent insight into music -- thank you so much for you interest in an unknown like me. I truly appreciate it ... Mike
The beat at first sounds like against the wind, which is one of my favorites songs, I do like this song very well do very well done. Thank you my friend for sharing this with me.

@sparadra1975 Thank you so much. Actually, I wrote this song & sing both recorded versions. But this newer version is shorter -- more up tempo -- kind of geared more toward radio (if I could be so lucky). Again, thank you so much for you kind words. Peace, Mike
@iriewaregl -... I'll wish you the best of luck then... this one is pretty catchy and there is a different energy on it-I really like your work and the atmosphere in the songs-sending you good vibes for the radios, you derserve it :-)
Hi Mark, ... It is a wonderful song. The first version, I do not know exist. This version I find really good and I like it excellent. Very good work! ... all of my ten thumbs up ! ;-D
Well, that is GREAT!! I have sung "Vehicle" over 1000 times (I used to be in a horn band that played lots of private parties), anyway, you are super blessed to have such great musicians backing you. I think this version of your great song is even more soulful than the earlier version. Love it!!
@jimmymac30 Thank you Jimmy for such an insightful comment. Honestly, with the increased tempo, it made it more challenging to sing (almost like it was a different song). So at times, I just had to go for it from my heart & soul. So, I am very glad that you picked up on that. You are so talented man! Mike
@mrkkerekes thanks so much Mark -- all bullshit aside, I am honored that you are featuring my song on your channel. Thanks man -- you'll never know how much that means to me ... peace man, Mike

Turpentine wine, turpentine wine, tastes real fine, but not quite like white wine from the Rhine. Turpentine wine, turpentine wine, tastes real fine, but I don't think it will be a choice of mine.
BTW, many 'rich' kids have served & died for our nation, & a good number were in Infantry & other gorund combat units.
@christof139 Point well taken -- nor, do I argue the valor of those rich kids. But during the 60s (the time this song refers to), because of liberal draft deferment policies (primarily college deferments) and tens of thousands of fleeing the US to avoid the draft, there was a disportionate number of draftees categorized as lower middle class or below the poerty line. Also, the lyric is -- "the poor MAN went to war". Anyway, thank you for the review and additional verse:) Hope you are well. Mike
@iriewaregl, I was in the Army then, & most were volunteers. Many vols. & draftees had some college but below a B grade average & were eligible for the draft. ~30,000 Canadians volunteered & ~100,000 Canadian resident aliens were drafted & many of those had some college. Most of the draftees & vols. were high school graduates. Young men were drafted & volunteered from the richest suburbs etc. I was just making a funny rhyme though. I knew a guy that committed suicide by drinking paint solvents.
@christof139 No problem man & thank you for your service to our country. The broader point of emphasis is the line ... "they came home disheartened, they were treated like misfit whores." There were no grand parades, nor were they welcomed home as a collective whole with open arms. And to this point, every Vietnam vet who has heard this song and made comments to me have been most appreciative of that simple reminder. Peace my friend & thank you for your interest in my music. Well, I noticed quite a few differences from the original. First off, let me congratulate you on your acquisition of such talented & well-seasoned backup. And I hope this does well for you, Mike. Although your original version was very good, this was obviously on a much higher & more professional scale. I can definitely see this going places. :)
