Bud, America runs on capitalism, it's what got us where we are today, BUT, capitalism in that same time has led to the biggest income gap of any developed country. @MisterRight4prez Dems do NOT have super-majorities in EITHER House of Congress. The Senate is split 59/41, and the HoR is split 253/178, which is 58% Dem. A super-majority is at least 66% of representation.

Objectively, he is a legislator, elected by a majority to represent them in a federal bicameral political institution. Bud, America runs on capitalism, it's what got us where we are today, BUT, capitalism in that same time has led to the biggest income gap of any developed country. What we need is not all socialism or all capitalism, but a mix of the two where needed. Keep a free and open market but create government safety nets like the public option and welfare.

Some opponents of the 9/11 health bill have argued the cost of "providing health" for our first responders will cost us Americans to much "money".
The estimate is 7 billion dollars for those who worked on the damage caused by terrorist. Although, a "more economical" means may be determined, there are many who are suffering now! Can't we provide them with a "bill" and then do what we do with most processes and optimize it afterwards.

Heroism should not be rewarded on condition of perserving a f'ing tax loophole! The f'ers who said no should never be able to use any f'ing word like "American" "hero" "patriotic" etc., ever.. I understand there are differences in the two parties but this is not debate, this is f'ing evil at work.

@theparafoon | You are missing the point. This bill would have passed, with GOP support if the democrats would have allowed a simple majority vote. The democrats intentionally locked the GOP out of making any adjustments to the bill such as not allowing benefits for illegals that was snuck into this bill. The democrats chose to make this a 2/3 vote intentionally to make the GOp look bad. The heros were pawns in the democrats' game of Playing Politics.

I am sick and tired of watching Republicans cowardly and irrisponsibly voting against every legislation that comes before them. Health-care, aid for the unemployed, aid for 9/11 workers, cleanup in the gulf, unemployment, aid to teachers, aid to SMALL BUSINESSES, the list goes on and on. Under what principles can they justify this? The truth is that their fiscal conservatism is a sham, what they want is power. And they are willing to sacrifice us all to get it. Besides, people are still bugging Obama about how his change hasn't happened, so the least they can do is try to be civil and request the republicans assistance in passing a bill.

@MisterRight4prez Dems do NOT have super-majorities in EITHER House of Congress. The Senate is split 59/41, and the HoR is split 253/178, which is 58% Dem. A super-majority is at least 66% of representation.
Regardless, the votes of the Repubs are "pure politics." They just want to be able during the elections to say "LOOK! WE DIDN'T PASS IT, THEY DID!" regardless of whether they think it's right. Or they don't want Dems to look good in the elections by saying "Look what great bills we passed!"
