Though it is hilarious, it is historically inaccurate. The romans did not give a thumbs-up when they approved of the performance or when they were deciding a gladiator's fate. Instead, they would open their palm, facing down. The thumbs-up symbol, in ancient Rome, was a phallic symbol, a rather rude, sexual gesture a man might make toward a woman. Almost the Roman equivalent of a "heeey, baby!"

@BlackKat71 Actually, that's wrong. In Rome its true they didn't give a thumbs up when they approved of the performance, they gave a thumbs up if the person was to live or die. Thumbs up meant he could live, thumbs down meant the Gladiator could kill him.

I believe that many old historians have recorded this also, though I can't remember exactly which one.

first of all they aren't GREEK... they were HELLENES, and furthermore they were city states back then not a whole entity. The main one being Athens, which considered Macedonia as barbarian (which is where Alexander NOT Alexandra is from) if you've read any of Isocrates or Demosthenes' work you will clearly see that ...but you already knew all that right..? :P
