  • I prefer to just stick to real music. You know, the kind made with actual instruments by actual musicians.

  • Serato all the way

  • Hey laptop DJ, your girlfriend prefers 12 inches.

  • There ain't nothing wrong with spinning other people's music. Just because a few people get butt hurt that everything you play isn't yours is their fucking problem. I spin Funky and Jackin Techno because I love music. It also is nice to play a very rare style as it is in Chicago. I like what I do and how I do it. I have a box of kleenex if some of ya'll need it.

  • DEAD MOUSE!!!!

  • I agree, DJ`s around where i live literally take a song... put a cool sound effect for a transition and maybe through some dance beats in rando spots then try to mash and or just play the shitties rap music possible! WHERES THE CREATIVITY!?

  • @HeroOfYourMisery Sounds like you live in the wrong spot if youre looking for creative djs. There are guys like Roger Sanchez who can take 4 decks and mix bits n pieces of sound and compose a completely new track from it or a remix live style deal. It seems like its easier for shitty DJs to get publicity than say a bad guitarist or a bad drummer. DJing isnt like playing an instrument tho and shouldn't be compared. one thing they share is that theres no one way to do it

  • @planetery Lol, dont you have some down tempo/chill gigs to get to already? Haha

  • i hit deadmau5 today with a glowstick!

  • I make music I dj and idgaf this shit is funny :P

  • douchebags use traktor cause it has autosync, real ones use serato cause there is no autosync in serato

  • @tableturns77 People choose traktor for other reasons, some people just prefer it. not to mention traktor's auto sync sucks anyway

  • @SolDiosEntertainment people choose traktor cause of auto sync and cause they dont know how to beat match, so traktor can have 4 tracks playing at the same big deal.. serato is for real djs.

  • @tableturns77 I like serato because of it's stability, but I prefer traktor because of the effects, samples and such, And it works better with the x1

it really all ends up like the mac vs pc debate

mac = serato (stable and works well)

pc = traktor (lots of features, every man and his dog has one)

vdj = linux (has some interesting ways of doing things, but not very stable

  • @SolDiosEntertainment why do djs have the need for effects, theres plenty effects already in songs themselves

  • @tableturns77 You can use them to create amazing buildups among other things, part of dj'ing for me is creatively expressing yourself

  • @SolDiosEntertainment so what, you can use ableton with serato much better

  • 7 People are wannabe's.

  • @TheBradyNation now they are 8

  • @TheBradyNation Just one more, and a full squad is ready to go down on your ASS! hhhehehe

  • Yes it may be funny and yes it is funny but the truth is that there are people like that unfortunately... A lot

  • its as simple as this, using serato and traktor is fine. but the second you start using the auto beat match/bpm funtion, your not djing anymore. its like having a guitar that plays itself, but your holding it saying that you are a great guitarist.

  • imma underground DJ and im making own Beats.so are im fake??? or some like that?? i start be DJ when i always do hand lika Air Scratch and make tha noise, and make beat box, then i think what would be hear nice, and thats how i alwayz make beats.i get some idea for beat boxing and air scratching:P

  • I've used vinyl and used laptops, and I think CDs are a good middle ground for me. My day job is sitting in an office, and I don't want to be tethered to the computer screen all day long. CD are still physical and you get the benefits for digital players and cheap price of digital music.

  • There are those who have laptops which, in theory should produce a faultless set - IF you know what to play and how & when you drop it. I have everything that one could need - CD's, Vinyl, and laptop/controller, but I never call myself a DJ. I let others decide this at the gigs I rock. If I use CD/Vinyl this does not promote me to DJ level. And using MP3's does not make me any less of a 'music presenter'. The crowd is what is important, not what you use

  • Thumbs up if you can spin Vinyl

  • thumbs up if you remember those dogs in the geiko commercials!

  • LMFAO!

How f*ing accurate! "Glorified Jukeboxes" hahaha

The cult of 'DJ' - the most overrated Emperor's New Clothes phenomenon ever!

  • lol, in 2 or 3 years, c.d's will be non existent.. they are a waste of resource if you can obtain the music digitally, reducing resources is the way of the future. what are d.js that are against the technology revolution going to do then? BUY A LAPTOP.. I stake my life on it, is far more effective, productive, less fatiguing and easier to work with & there is less chance of something going wrong/breaking/getting damaged with having less equipment. What current dmc champ does not use software?

  • @FreqwinC86 Actually Vinyl as long as you took care of it, was always much more reliable than either CD's or a laptop, There are plenty of DJs I've seen have issues with their laptops even having their laptop crash during a set. My own laptop was glitching for a while having the music vibrate in speed every now and then, it took going back a few versions in Serato and making quite a few adjustments to get it back to normal. Anything digital will always have the possibility of read errors.

  • @TheDJEmir, your laptop is probably jam packed full of useless junk clogging up your system and i bet your running windows, if not a underpowered mac. For serato, you should have used what worked before downloading new updates without reading about what others had to say about them. As for vinyl, u mean to tell me that if i owned a ns7 & itch and used it to scratch for two years against a pure vinyl d.j, do you think i would spend more in maintenance? (also vibrating needles, warped vinyl, etc)

  • Thay was mean wat the brown one was saying. The white guy just wants to be a damn DJ

Shut the muck up brown dude! :)

  • :) i use a laptop to dj, but only because I use so many tracks and samples id need $10,000 to get all the cd djs and equipment I would need

  • everyone likes music

  • lol what if animals really talked like this to each other ha ha

  • DEFINITION OF A PROPER DJ = DEADMAU5

  • @MissSophisticated27 Deadmau5 is a decent DJ at best. Definition of a proper DJ is someone A-Trak. Hell, Bassnectar is sick DJ as well.

  • @MissSophisticated27 deadmau5 is a jackoff.. he admitted in am interview that he is a producer not a dj. then he talked ish about djs. im glad he got knocked out at a club by the opening Dj. Ive been a Dj for 14 years, I have all my vinyl and I use serato. deadmau5 is a button pusher.

  • Excellent.

  • so funny - I'm glad that some people can be satirical and not be freaked out about the crazy responses they will get. Cheers. I implore you to keep it up.

  • ...I love DeadMau5 *lets it sink in for a few seconds*...do you think I could open for him when he comes to town? LOL

  • @PlurMusicInc i agree, the only reason why some DJ's use laptops is because crates of vinyls are fcking ridiculous to carry around. Most of the DJ's that are amazing and use laptops dont even watch their screens.

yes i DJ at a club and many events on my city.

  • This is amazing.

  • lmao, hilarious.

  • @PlurMusicInc playing music in your moms basement doesnt count as a gig. sorry

  • EPIC

  • I'm suprised he didn't call him dead-mau-5!!

  • I'll call the badphone now... :)

  • Dippedy derpdy derp, serato/controllers/traktor is cheating derpdy doo. Derpa you're a noob if you don't use techs/pioneer/rane dee derpidy derp. Deepy derp all derp music is good and all deepyderp music sucks. Derpsie deedily I hate all things I don't understand diddly doo.

  • LoL I loove that Deadmau5 refrence!

And am DJ who is Deadmau5 fan! I also use software to Djing xD

  • So cool.

  • maybe i could get a bass monkey two

  • I agree that letting a program match up beats is cheating with technology, but it about music choice not about "beat matching". DJ's existed before the precious Technics 1200 hit the stores. John Peel, Wolfman Jack, Dr Demento and others like them..... were also great DJ's. They jockeyed music, they played great music......music to be heard. It's sad that the term "DJ" has now been somewhat lessened by the fact that electronic beats and a club must be involved. That is a bunch of BS.

  • @orbfile if it isn't about beat matching, then why do club/rave/dance djs beat match every track together? It's because that is part of the craft. It's not just the technique of beat matching, it's the technique of picking two songs that go together, sort of a glorified balancing act. Not every track goes with each other, the art of blending is not a skill to be overlooked or dismissed.

  • @edyken77 too bad over 70% of all electro producers are lazy and unoriginal and slap 128 beats per minute on EVERY song. It's not hard to beatmatch when every song is the same fucking speed.

Versatility in your music choice is key, not just matching the beats, especially since in the electro / house / hardstyle genres the speed is generally the same.

  • @DubSek agreed, beatmatching is not that hard, you obviously need to be able to do it as a dj, but in the end it really comes to down to versatility, creativity and song selection.

  • @orbfile when you go to a club, playing a song until the end is not the best thing to do. beatmatching and mixing records controls the energy of the crowd, it keeps people moving. if you trainwreck or stop the music constantly people will lose interest and go outside to smoke. a good DJ is both someone who knows what to play and when, and someone who is able to make the transition seamlessly.

  • @never1ess DJing is all about reading a crowd! Its psychology! You play god and control how the crowd response to the music, what gets them exited - or what turns them off.

Its actually very hard work to do! As for those IDIOTS who think that they can play DJ Hero and be an actual DJ - DJ HERO IS A GAME - IT IS MEANT TO BE FUN, You don't have to work at reading the crowds, technique and all of the actual stuff that DJing is about!

  • @DJelectfire that's kind of what i said dude. i'm a dj, so this isn't news to me.

  • "deadmau5 is one of the greatest electronic artists out there" - are you fucking kidding me?

  • I found this to be quite amusing.

  • ROFL

  • being inspired by dj hero is fine. but thinking you'll be good just because you're good at dj hero is not. people also need to listen to more electronica other than deadmau5. yes, deadmau5 is one of the greatest electronic artists out there. but the fact that he wears a giant mouse head isn't what gives him that title. and the "fans" ,like the one in this video, have to realize that they're embarrassing him.

  • @OverStuffedTaco you're right. but please, don't say electronica ever again.

  • @edyken77 why the hell not?

  • this video kills it.

too many producers, celebrities, and rappers are Djing and DJ Hero, etc. perverts what DJs do and who ARE DJs. DJ Hero, Scratch Academies, Serato, Traktor, etc. HAVE to push the idea that "anybody can DJ" to make money. Technics is gone cuz their market stopped expanding cuz not everybody can rock decks or will dedicate themselves to do such, but mad fools have a laptop and an iTunes collection and the "controller market" is expanding cuz babies can push buttons.

  • Ha! Pretty funny stuff, LMAO off when I heard the burning man and root society lines lol.

  • lol when i try to mix using "sync" function my mix is jus messed up... lol matching with ears works better for me... i used to use virtual dj on pc then traktor and now on mac i use Djay lol there is no wavform displaying so i gotta use my ears

  • Effing hysterical.

  • using autosync in traktor or any other software isn't djing... so true

  • @juancsmix Yeah, but whats teh difference? The method of mixing two songs together doesnt make a different sound. Its like a long route and a short route to the same place, if its easier to take the short route, why not?

  • @plopcropbop in that case automatise everything, guitars, drums, piano, sample everything and just hit buttons on cue, its the short route, why not?

  • LOL this is fucking awesome

  • One person is propably a laptop dj with traktor or Deadmouse himself.

  • @djlemmyb try more like 500+. Laptop DJ's and VDJ DJs SUCK DICK! End of story. Take it seriously buy equipment

  • @PlurMusicInc Agreed. Its not what or how you play, its what platform you use. Unless you're rocking with SL's, and/or CDJ's, you cannot be considered a DJ. I'm sure a blind man would disagree to for some reason....

  • @djlemmyb deadmau5...

  • @djlemmyb LOL try ABLETON with midi CONTROLLERS

  • oh man this makes me regret being a DJ... cuz its very true :(

  • so many djs..so many suck

  • ahahaha gold bro

  • If this video was a DJ set, you just rocked the house!

  • VERRRY FUNNY !!! i've been djing for 9yrs on turntables(self taught) and went to laptop.this cartoon is awesome i like it im gonna post it.and the ghost n stuff refrance is dead on lol thas why i dont go to clubs anymore they all play the same stuff ! look us up on here we are dirty tribe and see what we do .we are also on facebook and itunes download for free jus look up dirty tribe

  • "They are saving a spot for a DJ who can clear their dance floor in 30 seconds flat"

    Lmao damn hahaha

  • Yes I love THIS. FUCK DEADMAU5 and any other douchebag assholes out there

  • This is really cute!

  • i feel this 100%

  • I know this isn't to taken seriously, but..... There are tons of DJs who beatmatch and still suck. I don't have a problem with autobeatmatching because what makes a DJ good is the quality of music and creativity. I've been spinning vinyl for the past decade and I've recently fallen in love with Traktor. I don't feel threatened by DJs who autobeatmatch, and I may join them at some point in the future. It's all about the music and creativity, beatmatching has nothing to do with either of them.

  • To grooveblazer

I actually have met all of the people you mentioned and they can all beatmatch or scratch like i said. I also said i prefer a laptop too over vinyl. What i also did say is that the new programs do allow some to pose as dj without learning to be a dj! I have no problem with a "real" & good dj using any format they prefer as long as it is a tool not what makes them into a dj. Native Instruments makes a great program i know...plus i am good friends with the owners of Beatport here

  • This comment is guide toward all the idiots who commented bellow. Grandmaster Flash, Richie Hawtin,Pete Tong and Dubfire are now posers because they use Traktor? Traktor is not an Ipod. Get your facts straight and try something for yourself before you pretend you know everything. In reality You are the software SLAVE because you allow social media to do all the thinking and decision making for you. If you wanna see a really funny video that actually hits the spot try "DJ INTERVENTION"

  • LMAO!!! This is so true: Don't be a human jukebox be a dj! Learn to beatmatch...Some people just need to stay in the basement or their friends house party! ....... Planet SucK

  • This is the most accurate depiction of the "everybody wants to be a DJ generation." Perfect, especially the Beat Port part. Buy your music on Beat Port if you want to be a trend FOLLOWING DJ and play the same shit as everybody else. Shop Juno if you want the rare tracks no one else is playing!!!!! I'm going to play this video on an upcoming show...it's perfect.

  • This is funny! Now I agree i would rather carry a laptop then a case of vinyl any day... But technology has alowed too many posers the ability to fake a set ( serato the biggest flake) Don't be a human jukebox be a dj! Learn to beatmatch...or scratch or something other then pushing a button. I see some of the best and worst djs as a production manager at a nightclub and some people just need to stay in the basement or their friends house party!

  • This made me laugh hard. Excellent video!

  • lololol haha this is fucking awesome!

  • Please keep in mind that this is satire. I have used a laptop to DJ, myself. It does save space and can be easier. I've since then switched to CDs. There are people who use laptops that are really great DJs that have tons of skill. There are also others that don't know how to use any other equipment and utilize the software's built-in functions to DJ without effort. This video should be taken with a grain of salt. If you can't laugh at yourself, don't watch.

  • Hilarious although people need to get over the whole laptop shit. I'm not lugging around 60lbs of wax anymore. I'd rather have 20k tracks available to drop whatever I want and be more creative with my sets. If you sit and just stare at the laptop the entire time that's a different story, I don't agree with that. If you can't beatmatch without watching waveforms or meters you have no business djing period!!

  • so true. I am so sick of these DJs with their laptops!

  • ha ha!
