  • Beautifully done.

  • Hi, I think what you are trying to say is, we ARE making a decision to beleive in Jesus, but we have to be careful not to beleive that we had a part in it, God made us choose that way. Our own freewill however by our own power can make a decision to reject the holy spirit. Does this not still leave room for boasting of the beleiver? "Well I didn't resist the holy spirit like you did."

  • ok, its god's doing, sending us the holy spirit, drawing us into salvation. But is it not our "decison" not to resist the holy spirit speaking to us?

  • Hi.....no...if we do not resist the Holy Spirit it is because God has made us alive with Faith. Here is a subtle point. Of course it is the person who is believing...but where does the power to believe come from? Self? Or God? The bible says that the power to believe comes from God. Or to put it differently, the ability to not resist the Holy Spirit comes from God not ourselves...

  • so then people who resist the holy spirit, God is not with them? If he wants everyone saved, why is he not with them? If they have heard the word or gospels Why has god not put faith in them?

  • Yes..those who resist the Holy Spirit are those who do not have faith in Jesus and as a result..God is not with them in that they are not His people...we become the children of God only in Jesus Christ..the reason God does not give them faith is because they resist the Holy Spirit..He wants to give them faith. It's their fault ...not His...

  • HI..I think we are in agreement but your last statment does not fit with what you said earlier...you said that with free will we can reject the Holy Spirit which is true..then you say that a person can boast by saying I didn't resist the Holy Spirit like you....that does not make sense..the person would not say that becasue they know that the only reason they did not resisit is because God gave them faith...or did I miss sometkhing!?

  • HI..obviously I am not going to convince you...with my schedule I just don't have the time to give you...I apologize for that..I tried...so I wish you well..I am thankful to

God that you belive in Jesus as your Savior...but not all do...and they will be lost....Pastor Lassman

  • How about 1 Thess. 2:10 and Rev. 20: 15and Eph. 2:12?

  • HI..well that's because you follow your logic instead of clear bible passages...I don't know what else to say..I just teach what the bible says whether it fits with my reason/logic or not..that's why I am a Lutheran..you seem to know your bible about hell etc...they are clear but you want to expalin them away because your logic/reason tells you that they contradict the other passages you know...I simply let that tension/paradox stand...I do not have to explain or harmonize anything..

  • HI..I agree faith is a gift..

  • HI..ok ..I tried to bring you the truth..obviously all the passages about those damned and the wrath of God coming do not all apply to the lost sheep of Israel...Pastor Lassman

  • Hi..well you did not address the bible passages I mentioned. I don't know if you are a Calvinist or not but he had the same approach which is using human reason and logic rather than God's word....and yes, the Holy Spirit can be resisted (Acts 7: 51.)..and Jesus wanted the people of Jerusalem to believe (that was His will) but they did NOT believe..Matth 23: 37. What about Matt 25 and the sheep and the goats?? Pastor Lassman

  • HI..you misuse Scripture..surely you know bible passages that talk about the different fate of believers and unbelievers...1 Tim 4:10 cannot be used to contradict those scriptures so you must conclude that you are using 1 Tim 4:10 in a wrong way...Pastor Lassman

  • Great,...let me know if you have any more questions and I will try to answer them.........Pastor Lassman

  • Hi..The Lutheran Church accepts the two teachings that I told you...and nothing other than I told you. So, I'm not sure what you means by "he literally went to hell"..are you refering to his suffering on the cross or his proclamation of victory in hell? If I understand correctly what you are asking we believe both teachings as I told you...this help??? Pastor Lassman

  • Hi..there are two teachings about Jesus and Hell. 1) Jesus suffered hell on the cross as He was punished by His Father for the sins of the world..."My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?" ..So Jesus suffered Hell on the Cross. 2) After being made alive in the tomb and before He showed Himself to anyone..Jesus in His new glorified body descended to hell to proclaim His victory over Satan and the powers of darkness...pPastor Lasman

  • Hi..thanks for your comments. I will do some "home work" and study your comments...Pastor Lassman

  • This video answers the Calvinist/Arminian debate EXACTLY! I was torn between the particulars in these schools of thought, but your teaching has helped me, as you did in regard to Eucharistic theology. I thank God daily for you, Pastor.

  • Hi...thnaks so much for your encouraging word. Yes neither Calvinists or Arminians understand Lutherans on this point..they think that we have to pick one of their positions and we respond by saying that we just have to say what Scripture says...thanks again..Pastor Lassman

  • Dear Sir..I can understand your anger. I don't pretend to know why everything happens in this world the way it does. But Jesus also prayed for another way than death on the cross..and there was no other way. I pray that God's grace and love in Jesus Christ may yet change your mind. No one ever said that faith was easy. Pastor Lassman

  • i hope i answered your questions.

the fact is, under your theology every human God condemns to hell for all eternity was once a baby. this isn't love Pastor and you know it.

i know every baby ever born will be saved because i sincerely asked the Father for it in Jesus' name. the same Jesus who came to save the world (jn12:47) said "whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you" jn 16:23. God bless you Pastor!

  • Great..I will pray to the Father in Jesus Name that you agree with my teaching! Thanks! Now Watch for the change in your life! Let me know when it happens..because I asked the Father for it in Jesus' name...and whatever you ask the Father in my name, he will give you" (Jn 16:23) God bless you hezekiah98!

  • if your teaching is that -

    1. it's God's will for everyone to be saved (1tim2:4)

    2. that God will hear us because we asked for something thats according to his will(1jn5:14)

    3. because he heard us we KNOW that we'll have what we asked for (1jn5:15)-

then the bible says that "it will be done" (Mt18:19)

anyone who believes it won't be done is in contradiction with Jesus. don't you agree?

  • let me also say that although i diagree with you on some points, i enjoyed your video.

i know you're a pastor. i don't write my comments with the intent to change your mind, or to argue, or to win a debate, but rather to point out differences we have on salvation.

  • Hi..thank you. I was not offened nor did I see you as agrumentative...but from all my years of study and listing to many others (in books etc)..I must be honest and say, IF I understand what you are saying..I have never heard anyone make the distinction(s) that you are. Anyway, I pray you know the peace that passes all understanding in Jesus Christ and I thank you for your comments. Pastor Lassman

  • God never desired for everyone to believe in Christ.

Jesus said unbelievers can't come to him w/o the Father drawing them (Jn 6:44)

Jesus said that God blinds the eyes and hearts of unbelievers (Jn 12:37-40)

Peter said that God appointed unbelievers to disobey the gospel (1 pet 2:6-8)

  • Hi are you a Calvinist?..what about 1 Timothy 2:3,4? Pastor Lassman

  • no. my biblical position is universalism.

    you quote 1 tim 2:3-4.

job 23:13 says "whatever God desires, that he does". God didn't just desire salvation; he "saved" everyone. see 1 tim 4:10

the difference between you and me is that i see a distinction between election and salvation. i don't think you do.

  • Could you explain what you mean..then I can respond better..thanks......

  • universalism is the belief that God will save everyone. (1tim4:10, 1tim2:3-6, Jn 12:47)

election is the belief that God chose who will and won't believe in Jesus before the creation of the world (Eph 1:4, Jn 1:12-13,6:37)

salvation is not the belief that Jesus came to save everyone from hell (Mt7:13-14), but the belief that he came to save everyone from death (1cor15:21,22), sin (rom5:19), and seperation from God(rom5:18).

  • Hi..thanks for the explanation..but I don't think you have a biblical basis for your definition of salvation making distinctions between saving someone from death, sin, and separation from god..but not hell...Hell is separation from God..I've never head of such a distinction..what is your christian back ground? Is this your own belief? Or did you learn it some where? Thanks...

  • we are already seperated from God -is 59:2.

hell is a place of punishment and correction for many (mt7:14) who don't love.

but because of Jesus, everyone who goes to hell will be made righteous and have eternal life rom5:18,19.

God never made any baby with the purpose of damning it; God made every baby with the purpose of them being with Jesus - col1:16,1tim4:10

  • Hi.....I think we should leave well enough alone and stop our conversation. OK?

  • Hi..I would aks you respectfully to not put your comments on this site as they have nothing to do with my videos. I thank you in advance for your kindly response............Pastor Lassman

  • Thank you Pastor! Very good teaching.

    lightofthemaster dot com

  • Hi...Yes I know...thanks for the conversation..I think I will have to close this discussion now as I am really pressed for time. I wish you God's blessings........Pastor Lassman

  • How about this: "For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him CRUCIFIED" 1 Cor. 2: 2 KJV. Dear friend it DOES NOT MATTER whether the cross is empty or not. We all believe that he was crucified AND that he was raised.

  • You have a very strange way of interpeting Scripture. Jesus excpets us to do it and that's why the church in Corinth did it. When Jesus says "do this" he is using a Greek Present Imperative which means to keep on doing it over and over again. 1 cor. 11:26 also shows that we are to do this over and over until Jesus returns "For as often as ye eat this bread, and drinkthis cup. ye do shew the Lord's death UNTIL HE COMES." (KVJ). What church do you attend? Pastor Lassman

  • My friend...look at 1 Cor. 10: 16 and 1 Cor. 11: 22-34. Paul is speaking of the Body and Blood of Jesus with the bread and wine..AFTER Jesus ascended into heaven..Pastor Lassman

  • Jesus says "this is my body..this is my blood" (Matt. 26: 26,28 KJV) And Paul confirms that in 1 Cor. 10:16 (KJV) and 1 Cor. 11:24-29 (KJV) So why do you change the meaning? Pastor Lassman

  • Hi, I use serveral versions of the bible including the KJV. Most people don't understand Lutherans and unfortunaely there are some Liberal Lutherans. Roman Catholics see us as Protestants and many Protestants think we are too Catholic. I am of the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. You can check us out of the web..Pastor Lassman

  • Thank you! And I have no problem with you prefering to read the KJV. Did you actually watch my videos? I think you would agree with most of what I teach if not all. I base my teacings on the bible.. Pastor Lassman

  • Dear Friend..I read the orginal languages of the bible: Hebrew and Greek. I have been teaching God's Word as a conservative bible believing Lutheran pastor for 30 years. I think I know what I'm talking about. Do you think I am not saved because I do not exlusivley use the KJV? Pastor Lassman

  • Ok..I'm pretty convinced that I will not be able to change your mind..and as a busy Pastor I will not be able to give this point much more attention. So, we can either quit our conversation now or if you want to say a few more things I will respond and then I think I will need to stop corresponding with you..Pastor Lassman

  • NO..it wasn't. What about the Germans? Martin Luther translated the bible for the Germans. Will you condemn Him? Do all Germans need to read the KJV? Pastor Lassman

  • Remember, I'm not criticising you for reading the KVJ. But there are reasons why so people find it hard to understand in some places. That's why they choose another translation...and they should not be condemned as LADYTIRE3 was doing...that's my point..There is no perfect translation. They all have sgtrengths and weaknesses. The authoratative texts are the Hebrew and Greek. Pastor Lassman

  • No. that's no what "suffer" means. When the King James Bible was translated in 1611 the word "suffer' meant to "Allow" or "permit" so "SUFFER THE LITTLE CHILDREN" means to permit them or allow them to come to Jesus. That's what I was trying to say ealier that the "enlish" of the KJV is sometimes hard to understand in our day. But other translations use more modern enlish to make the Bible more understandable. ...Pastor Lassman

  • By the way, I'm not against people using the KJV..I'm responding to those who say it is the ONLY true bible. Pastor Lassman

  • "But Jesus said, 'Suffer the little chldren, and forbid them not, to come unto me; for of such is the Kingdom of heaven" (Matth 19:14 KJV). What does jesus mean when he says "Suffer little children"? Pastor Lassman

  • You know the language we speak "english"..the english of KJV is from 1611...

  • I do that to show that there is no ONE right version..but all versions have strengths and weakness. The KJV is English from 161..and some times it just does not communicte accurately in todays English
