  • They should have used vertical sync...

  • An audio explanation would be nice.

  • jew

  • Next lady gaga character

  • my uglyness meter exploded during this video

  • Why do they always use obscenely hideous models for these demonstrations?

  • @minxamo

It's a very well-modeled surrealistic fictional character. What better to use?

  • @minxamo Because a normal face would be boring, and this face has character.

  • it looks like my granpha

  • So THIS is what Obama and Bush would look like, if they were combined..

  • Looks like a stereotypical Jew. Someone at AMD got a life from making this I'm sure.

  • @StrychnineLD100 LoL! I suppose it does.

  • @EddieEcstasy lol I meant a "laugh" but you I know you caught what I meant to say lol Yeah the image is too much of a coincidence lol

  • is this steve jobs cartoon?

  • it will still take years before we'll see cgi quality graphics in game. the current hardware just won't do it even if you have the best pc.

  • @nooblet911 actually, all it requires is that GPU processing speeds meet up with current cpu speeds. Currently, I don't believe there are any GPU's that even go above 1Ghz no? If there was even one that went 2Ghz that would be ridiculously amazing. Its all up to the GPU companies. I still wonder why they don't go that far yet.

  • wouldn't that make the gpu like a second cpu?

better make multicore cpus capable of software tesselation then.

  • @PenguinRecordings There are GPU's who's core clock can go a little over 1 Ghz. Mine included. I just bought the GTX 560 Ti Twin Frozr III, with "triple overvoltage" allowing me to up the core clock to 1.1 Ghz stable. I'm sure higher end cards can go a little higher.

  • @DeepSpaceVoid Thats definitely news to me! I didn't know any current GPU could go 1Ghz, thanks for sharing that with me. However, I think my point still stands :) Imagine what it would be like with GPUs on par with CPUs.

  • @PenguinRecordings AMD is doing this with there new APU's

  • sadly. half of the people that will watch this wont know what the heck is happing and what that green"wire" thing is. the 6990 is the fastest Graphics card by Raw power. the 590 is the card that gets the highest frame rates in games. most likely due to most games gettting paid by Nvidia to optimize the game/engine for Nvidia

  • Wow how the First DirectX 11 video card was, it is slow but now there is the new AMD Radeon™ HD 6990 Graphics (the fastest graphics card in the world.) :D

  • @SALEMATIAZZAM isnt 5970 faster?

  • @Xtclilium yes much much faster too

  • Is this even a human head?

  • GET RUBY BACK! WTF is that??!!!

  • freaky

  • Nvidia > abismssssss > amd....

  • the biggest diference was the framedrops lol

this is not a smart or practical use of tessellation

  • Well, with pretty much every card that's been released by ATI/AMD for a good while now being DX11 I have to disagree that now is not a good time to buy one. There's DX11 cards for like $100. But I do agree that the 5990, 480/580 and likely the new 69xx series are all overkill.

That being said though, I do own a 5970 and plan on upgrading next year when AMD releases the next series. But that's simply personal preference. I don't view them as "needed", or necessarily a good investment.

  • @BaneSIlvermoon

I know man, same thing with those 1024 kilo bite machines, who needs more than 56kb?

  • yeah now do that to a game that has atleast 50 people walking around..

  • textures and materials are what make characters looking good. Adding useless milions of triangles doesn't make it better.

  • @psychonaut25 those triangles allow you to add more textures and materials....Retard

  • @crazyfoolo117 I was looking at Metro 2033 with tesselations and without them. The real difference with tesselations on was that all objects were puffy, materials were the same. Retard.

  • @psychonaut25 Yep, the textures don't alter, they simply get their shape bent allowing more shadowing which makes the texture look like it's different.

  • @psychonaut25 It's not simply the extra wire frame that makes tesselation do unique things. It's the way it will be used to further change the textures applied to the object. Check out the heaven Unigine demo.

  • @BaneSIlvermoon I have seen that. But I think now we are at stage where DX11 GPU is useless. Now it's not the right time to buy such card (aspecially so expensive ones like those which are on market now). DX11 time will be on with the arrival of the next gen consoles. As it allways was.

  • your obviously the retard for thinking i ment materials as in, materials in game... we were talking about webbing materials, like shaders.... you fucking moron

  • @crazyfoolo117 haters gona hate

  • Show us the FPS.

  • @PhantomAct said "Show us the FPS."

Why? It is clearly not interactive frame rate. That shit is obviously too slow to even bother asking. Fuck you.

  • @newtubetubetube That shit is actually "interactive" u fucking moron. This is not offline 3D design cock face. When u say Dx11, u r talking games and in that category what u want to know are: 1) level of detail 3) screen size 2) frames per second. Get it moron?

  • @PhantomAct I never said it was not interactive. I said that this was not interactive frame rate. eg: about more then 10-15fps depending on each other's tolerance.

Be sure of your facts before calling name and insulting peoples. All you have accomplished is displaying your ignorance. You showed your cards and you got no game. You are obviously a graphic whore gamer that don't know shit about computer or computer graphics. Fuck you.

  • @PhantomAct said "When u say Dx11, u r talking games and in that category what u want to know are: 1) level of detail 3) screen size 2) frames per second. Get it moron?"

When you talk DX11, you talk computer graphic game or not. You want to know 1) Geometry size 3) Rendering size 3) Frame rate. Use the correct terms moron?

You are so much fail that you are almost funny. Farewell scruffy.

  • @newtubetubetube It's ok to not know things kiddo. I got 24 thumbs up, maybe u should consider some shut the fuck up? Also why are u copy-pasting my comment? Are u a dumbass? I know what i wrote. Do you really not understand how youtube works? Retard #FAIL

  • @PhantomAct said "Also why are u copy-pasting my comment?"

It's called quoting, and i do so with full attribution...

@PhantomAct said "It's ok to not know things kiddo. I got 24 thumbs up [...]"

I once had 56 thumb up for calling someone a fagot. This prove noting.

Also, don't think you have won. Your attempt to distraction has failed, i did not forget the subject on the discussion. I am just waiting for your counter arguments... if you have any? LOL. Fuck off.

  • @newtubetubetube 56? Haha, keep believing that retard troll.

  • LOL, it looks the same to me

  • Creepy?

  • This really make me want to swap to an AMP CPU.... Not

  • @LD4WG they are cheap and offer good performance, intel is way to over priced even though they are better.

  • DX11 FTW!!

  • Comment removed

  • it the same, what the fuck is this?!?!

  • I didn't get suprised by the low fps when they started to increase the tesselation. n00by AMD...

  • @Tezzeen you fucking moron. . . This is one of the very first tessellation demos WAY before nvidia even had a working prototype. if anything it just shows how way behind nvidia is. . . retard.

  • les gignols de l'info 2011 en 3D XD

  • "Boha, mords the hypophysien of a face.."

    Tempel of Yerushalem

  • LOL? This is weird. XD

  • no matter what technology they use, this guy is ugly as hell!!!

  • @sangolt88 You couln't be more wrong. And Im sorry if this sounds angry but I had to retype it cause i hit F4. PC's are not A dieing platform and will NEVER Fade. Also there are TONS OF Games that are DX10 and a few DX11 games. Also PCs will always be home computing tower devices and everyone will have one. Consoles really dont compare. Also there are more games for PC then console fool. As well as the fact that PC's are stronger and always win. and BTW, fail post and ADMITLY fail vid.

  • @goodman854 You could not be more right! PC wins over Consoles HANDS DOWN!

  • @sangolt88

    lol idiot

  • @sangolt88 are u fucking retard? yeah i think so

  • @sangolt88 You ever tried running Just Cause 2 on directx9? IT DOESN'T WORK! It won't even start the game. And if you can't see a difference between DX 9 and 11, you have some serious issues with your eyes.

  • LAGFEST

  • Wait this was an official AMD demonstration? I mean i guess the app was out by then but still... Wouldnt they want to show exactly the benefits of this? Like, why didnt they actually ZOOM IN on his nostril or something, and show the increase in detail as it subdivides?

Showing the entire model zoomed out and dragging the subdivide slider defeats the purpose of the entire tesselation techniques.

  • What a fucking horrible demo, if nVidia had of showed this it would we running at like 120FPS, have a VERY detailed object, and it flowing perfectly. Oh, wait! theres several out there now.

  • wow, this is awesome

  • @grandtheftauto1233

Go steal some watermelon, computers aren't for you. :( I'm sorry for this abrupt change in occupation, but it's for the good of us all.

  • THAT'S A JEW!

  • That one ugly head

  • Nvidia did tessellation on DX10... dont believe me, look it up

  • @grandtheftauto1233 ugh... I hope you understand the improvement of tessellation of dx11 don't you? Even nvidia has dx11 cards now if that is a newsflash for you. Tessellation on dx10 is not good.

  • @grandtheftauto1233 bullshit

  • @mathias921 google dx10 tessellation

  • from dx 9 to dx 10 was a big step ..but form dx 10 and dx 11 ..just some more useless effects..

  • The comments in this video shows that how much people think they know, but really don't at all.

  • Who is this ? Steve Jobs.

  • @AlgerianPhoenix

bill gates? looks a lot like him :P

  • @AlgerianPhoenix you're joking right

  • @AlgerianPhoenix hahahahahahah

  • @AlgerianPhoenix Could be Joe Biden... except he's not asleep.

  • @RalphCQ Hello to Texas from Annaba.

  • @AlgerianPhoenix hello from Dallas!

  • @AlgerianPhoenix Auf Widersehen Steve, thanks for all the hubla.

  • @AlgerianPhoenix This is no longer funny. QQ. He IS my inspiration!

  • @Celler2 WAS !

  • i just bought a DX11 a day ago and it is KICK ASS

  • But really, who actually cares about DirectX 11? Not Linux users, not Mac users, not most Windows users. OpenGL forevar!

  • LoL, did you notice the big fps drop? xD ATI totally sucks on tesselation. Nvidia FTW!

  • So.. does this mean that I have to play a game in wireframe mode.. just to see the differences ?

  • @EngrainedPhilosopher Lol, no. It is meant to improve graphics in-game but I guess it didn't work well on that model. xD

  • @seandewar5

Heh.. I forgot to quote my comment...I am just skeptical about seeing this feature actually in games, not some fancy tech demo.

  • @EngrainedPhilosopher Check out dirt2. I heard it supports DirectX 11.

  • @seandewar5

Saw that, not impressed... just a tessellated puddle.

Show me a game which demonstrates tessellation as same as Unigine benchmark.

  • @EngrainedPhilosopher I wasn't that impressed either. I'm not sure what other games have DX11 support.

  • @seandewar5

So that's why i think DX11 is useless... moreover, how many games which actually supports all DX10 features, except Crysis ?

  • WTF is that guy?

  • What... the... fuck? LOL!

  • I think ATI is shit, prove me wrong.

  • @ShadowwwLFS they are cheaper and give you more power for less watts so you even save money on your electricity bill. say nvidia has a 160watt card and equal ati card is probably about 100watts, those 60 watts add up for 17ish hours to become a whole kw hour which is about 6-8 cents depending on your location and power bill. there are 8064 hours in a year so 8064/17=roughly 474 instances of 6-8 cents kept on all year long being 28.44-37.92 extra on your electricity bill.

  • @hitomearue I'd happily pay 28.44-37.92 EUR more for having a proper Linux/FreeBSD drivers.

  • @ShadowwwLFS they have drivers for linux and i based the price off of USD so it might be less of a difference in EUR the one thing ive heard about nvidia is that they stabilize their drivers quicker or at least have stable drivers when they bring out new products over the vast majority of problems people have complained with over ATI's drivers. another up side of the lower power consumption is less heat in most cases. and they can play all the same games as an nvidia card they just bring it to

  • @hitomearue I said PROPER Linux drivers. ATI's Linux drivers need reinstall on every kernel update etc.

  • @ShadowwwLFS So do a lot of non-default drivers. That includes graphics drivers, some sound card drivers, wireless network drivers, etc.

  • @ShadowwwLFS be playable at a nicer price. the only real thing i can say is price for ati seemingly cause it will offer everything an nvidia card can just a little bit cheaper.

  • Spitting Image

  • he has nigger lips

  • He looks like prince charles lol

  • What's the point of adding 1 million poligons if don't need it....

R: Of course, sell new graphic cards...

  • not as spectacular as one would expect

  • But Crysis had better face rendering just using dx10.

  • @juliocesar24

Crysis didn't have this much polygons :|

  • noob :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • Can't see the fucking difference ?

  • What ever happened to Ruby??

  • @locolalo1364 this guy is much sexier and will sell more.

  • @locolalo1364 RUBY GOT HER BUTT FUCKED BY THIS HEAD

  • LOLZ when he adjusted the tesselation.... all it did was smile :D :D :D

  • AMD hates jews too? haha nice, they must have read mein kampf

  • I guess Mr. Uglyheadman will be used for ATi's demonstration of DirectX 12.

  • lol osama bin laden on a sunday morning

  • is it just me or was there no real difference? i mean Ive seen tessellation in alot of other places and i saw alot of change, in this demo i could barely notice it, eh maybe i shouldn't be watching in 360p lmao

  • It looks like one of those disgusting shitty newspaper cartoons...

  • completely useless for normal graphics cards, this would lag you so much

  • for some reason this REALLY makes me wish theyd make a new elder scrolls :'( imagine the characters in Dx11 lol :'(

  • @adamknox Why does this make u think of elder scrolls lol? and yeah Im hoping they will say somthing about a new one at this years E3, they're amazing games =)

  • @CometUK lol i dunno... i think where the face is perfect for a fantasy game :D and ec allways push the limits of graphics when there released :D think this face would be perfect in es5 :D

  • @adamknox lol yeah i suppose, I dont want to see anybody looking like that in tes5 though xD

  • Advice to the playtester. It may look more impressive if you raise the bumpeffect slider above 0.0

  • Doesn't seem like the performance tessellation is hogging is worth it AT ALL.

  • Nothing special with that graphic imo!

  • lol. The graphical power is not the point of the video.

  • ehwenn jemand sich um mich kümmern würde wäre ich glücklich^^ bin so einsam

  • I couldn't tell the difference between 6 and 19.

  • Haha, look how laggy it is.

  • The whole point to low poly models is because they run SMOOTHER on systems than high poly models. It's more beneficial to add higher detailed bump maps on low poly models (Like UT3/GoW). Most devs START with a high poly count model and run it through a batch processor to turn it into a heightmap anyway. This tech is useless on certain models, really only a benefit to using it with quickly generated terrain in levels and large models.

  • The thing my friend, is that the way they are doing tesselations to displace the models is much faster then simply having a highpoly model... Each polygon is subdivided in a couple hundred micro poligons at a speed comparable of the simgle poly. Storing normals and height maps for low poly models is also much less memory heavy then just a huge high poly model.

  • I think the point your missing is tesselation breaks them down further while rendering less polys. then adds "texture feel" post processing.

The advantage of more polygons with less.

Doesnt matter if it runs smoother. it will stay that way. Dx11 is clearly not something you fullly get

  • He needs a plastic surgeon; his bottom lip is drooping.

  • how did you...well, figure that out? o_O

  • Funny how you have to buy another video card just for direct x 11. A great idea! i tell you!

    /sarcasm

  • -3 so far, see how far your stupid ass remark gets you.

DX11 pwns face, and DX11 unlike is going to be around awhile. get over it

  • I really don't care how detailed the model is, if the animators don't care to animate life into it. An incredibly detailed puppet isn't convincing at all if it doesn't have soul. This tech is great, but not if the animators don't know how to imbue life into the mask, or if they aren't given the time to do so.

  • @ehcmier

And why don't u think that programmers will use the new technology to create more realistig models? Sorry, but I think you've lost your way reg.this.Tecknology is ALWAYS good, if it means that programmers can use time on AI and mapdesigns etc, instead of programming polygons that isn't even there. ;-) ASUS 5770 1Gb Cu-something already ordered here. ;-)

  • @ehcmier Spot on. I think the characters from half life 2 still put some of the much more graphically advanced modern games to shame. Lots of characters in videogames look like moving corpses.

  • @RH98 animation is totally underrated indeed. I do not like the game itself but I think an excellent example of how to make animation creep you out more then goretexture itself is in mho silent hill. lets imagine the ring-girl with a stiff back walking upright through the tv... *yawn*

  • @ehcmier Here's the good thing about this, though. The developers won't have to waste time making 5 separate models with 4 of them being lower quality, LOD models. They'd just create one and spend the rest of the time on animation, audio, textures, etc.

  • @ehcmier HL2 had great acting

  • Looking cool... but it won't create great games from modern times crappy products.

  • where do i found this demo? thks^^

  • It´s a very nice ugly face. Tessellation does not look very well

  • why do jews have big nose and small head?

  • hmm ... i think i want INAMVIDATI (INtelAMdnVIDiaATI)

  • ya mate i support ya

  • Comment removed

  • is this like normal mapping where you get no performance hit?

  • @kungmat with dx11 that wont be a problem

  • good graphics, but ugly

  • Notice the massive performance drop when he cranks it up... I'll stick with bump and normal mapping thank you.

  • And thats why the directX11 cards are powerful...

So you really don't need to worry about performance going down until a game is made to be the crysis of directx11 games.

  • Yea they will probably kick ass on DX9/DX10 games - no doubt. But imagine a DX11 game (maybe Crysis 2?) running at a high resolution with high graphics settings including tessellation on a 32 player server.

For those who don't believe me, just wait till the benchmarks.

  • Crank it up in bump mapping and then you have a BSOD

  • Not much difference.... Not sure it it's worth the performance drop. But it does look nice on terrain and stuff.

  • It don't see it. Sure the edges were smoother but I saw no detail in the wrinkles.

  • LOL

  • Guard your foreskin!

  • @drealgrin Best comment I've ever seen on youtube, no lie.
