To anyone watching this I felt I had to comment on Glenn Beck's opinion of FDR. He suggested that he was not loved and they put term limits because he was so hated. He forgot to mention that FDR was the only president to serve longer than two terms, the only president to serve four terms. The real question should be if they hated him so much why did they keep him on for twice as long as any other previous president?

I notice Beck failed to explain that the "Roaring Twenties" were partially attributed to American war profiteering during World War 1. Despite claiming neutrality America maintained active trading of arms and raw material to western Europe. In addition America extended credit to Europe,some of which was not paid until after World War 2. Then profited during the post-war reconstruction, all while remaining out of range from any land-based enemy action, while the European economy was destroyed

People who listen to Beck's version of American History need to do a data dump right away, and start reading for themselves. He's incapable of viewing history in accordance with the "times". He's unable to erase what he knows has occurred since each era he interprets, and applies a modern perspective to the past. His interpretation of the Founders is backwards. if anyone one is is being revisionist and trying to conforme history to their own narrative it's glen beck. if you anyone tries to tell you that reduction in goverment size in the usa led to the Roaring Twenties ( which was not confined to the usa) you should punch them in the face. Even if reduction in goverment bureaucracy played a part it is hardly that simple.

@noleftturnunstoned This is a tricky one. But I can almost guarantee that smaller government is better for the country. The reason is simple. The government should focus on building infrastructure, roads, hospitals, schools, small social programs. This leaves more investment for the private industry. Private industry has been more productive than public and we all know this. I would not attribute the roaring 20s to just smaller government, but I believe it was part of it.

Yes, they overused their powers and landed us in the existing mess, but they were also responsible for credit growth in the 20s. As you said, that didnt end well in 1929.
