For the record, they don't receive much pay - this is the British Army. I think it's around £16,500 for a Private. Go to your local recruitment office and ask about it from a serving soldier, i can tell you for FACT these guys ar combat ready, served or passed combat training and they take turns in ceremonial duties a good friend of mine was a guard before he left and he also spent time in Iraq in the early part of the war.
