  • @yvettegr. Yeah I know, that's the point I was trying to get across. That they love to do their work. It bothers me when people think its cruel to ask them to pull heavy loads. If you're asking them to pull heavy loads, they generally thrive on it. Some of them would rather pull around a carriage, those horses are the ones not in a pulling competition cuz it's not what they wanna do, pull a cart all day sure, but not thousands of pounds. And the folks that participate in the pulling use horses

  • If a horse that size doesn't wanna do the job, ya can't make them. We do sleigh rides with ours and they really enjoy it. We've had one come to us that had been used on the pulling circuit, he refused to pull the stone boat. He would pull 5000 pounds worth of sleigh and people, but if you hooked him to even an empty stone boat he would quit. So they, just like people, have their own personalities and really love their jobs. Sometimes it's being sure to match the right horse with the right job,

  • @Tiggadough Those horses love to pull. They're anxious to do so. And they're big and strong. Many of the owners I talked to said they had lots of working horses and each was different. Some like to to the horse pulls at fairs and thats the one they brought. Others loved working in the field or pulling sleighs. And that's what they did. I would never condone cruelty to any animal. These horses are well-cared for and looked after.

  • @yvettegr I was just giving an example of a horse that didn't like to do it so he came to us to do a different job which he loved and did for around 12 years, into his mid 20's.Sorry that it didn't come off clearly in my first comment. I wanted to get across that it's not "poor things" cuz they do enjoy it, and the ones that don't, don't do it, they have other jobs. That's all.

  • @Tiggadough (finsihing my thought lol) I think it's amazing to watch them in the competitions. I thoroughly enjoy driving them with the big bobsleds doing sleigh rides, or moving fire wood or sugaring

  • Poor thing the strap broke :(

  • He's not limping he'll be fine it takes a lot more than a little fall like that to actually inflict an injury on a horse....his back feet moved with more momentum that his front and it spun him round it happens sometimes

  • These horses weigh up to 2 tons and trust me a lil whip to but is just for them to pull even more it's not going to hurt them in the slightest its not like their standing there beating them with a 2X4! These horses can take a fall way better than a light weight horse so trust me a fall is going to bruise them maybe but actually cause serious injury doubtful!

  • @lovetylerwardmusic i agree!

  • the horses are made to do the job whether they like it or not. and this in my opinion, is cruelty. forcing them to pull such a weight is pure evil, they are living creatures, not machines. I happen to disagree with many of animal related things- horse racing, dog racing, animal testing etc.

  • look people, the horses are bred to do certain jobs because of their PHYSICAL qualities, not because the horses want to do that job. just because an animal is bred for a certain job, it does not mean it wants to do that job. It just means its physical qualities are excellent for a certain job. such as large, stocky, powerful horses such as these are great physically for the job. However, that doesn't mean they enjoy their job.

  • pplz these horses are bred for this me i wldnt make thm carrey the brikes i think thts a lil bit much but i wld use thm for farm work i live in the country and have a rllllly big yard tht cld use those kina horses

  • Ok for all of you ppl who think this is cruel and abuse you are wrong. Stuff like this happens in all sports. These horses are bred to work, just like jumpers jump, racers race and so forth. So dont say its cruel they want to pull the weight!!!!

  • DAMN that draft goes hard

  • i'm glad the horse was ok, stuff like this happens in all sports. i went to a draft horse show last week and i saw this done in person, they are very careful when they do it but it's amazing how many of the horses start off before their even hooked to the cart!

  • these idiots don't know how to work with these horses - thats not sport but animal torturing

  • @northanc Ummm no it is not torture they want to work. They are bred to work. Just like a race horse loves to run

  • @RachyM Don't be ignorant. How many in this video got hit? One, at the very end, and that can HARDLY be considered more then an encouraging tap. Have you ever handled an animal this large?

  • @showjumpingchick1994 uhm.. so? Just like any athlete, some are better then others. Body builders fail to lift their goal weights, or don't run as fast as they want to. Doesn't mean that these ATHLETES are any different, the challenge was just a bit too much. That doesn't equate to cruelty.

  • @httydnarutohorseluv1 These are animals, not your trophies tucked away in your rich mommy and daddy's stables. These horses are built for and LOVE what they do. No where in this video was abuse or fear, or suffering. Did you know an ANT can carry 25 TIMES its own body weight?? What makes you think a horse that is thousands of pounds of solid muscle can't do the same?

  • @JustSuperful oviously not cause they couldn't pull the first load haha

  • Guys, these are CLYDESDALES. They are BRED to pull. They WANT to pull. They are NOT in bad hands, they are just a bit enthusiastic.

  • @LightsWentOutIn99 ths are not clydsdales urrg get the breed right there Belgian DRAFTS AKA DRAFT HORSES .. CLYS ARE TOTALLY DIFFERENT LOOKING

  • @showjumpingchick1994 Well either way, they are both hauling breeds. And they both want to pull.

  • Well that looks like a fun thing to do NOT!!!!

  • EVERYONE IT DOSE SUFFER THE HORSE THAT MORE WEIGHT THAN THERE BODY WHEIGHT WHAT IF YOU PULL THE STUFF WHAT WILL YOU FEEL?!

  • all the horses i thought where okay.. this video was okay... UNTIL i got to 8:06... that's when i hated it... that guy is WIPING THE SHIT OUTTA THAT HORSE! that those guys need to learn a little more about horsemanship!!!! ALL that guy cares about is winning and getting his little pretty pink ribbons and money! fuck him!

  • These horses were obviously trained to pull.

As you can see, they are not whipped or forced into it.

I saw no animal cruelty whatsoever.

For those vegetarians that blabber on about animal cruelty and such, please get back in your corners.

  • @KarboNeTikz not everyone thats against this CRUELTY is a veggy

  • ammmm where is the terrible fall

  • Horses like there job...this fall wasnt that bad either

  • TERRIFIED GIANTS!

  • this is animal cruelty they should be ashamed of themselfs

  • @kathrynfisher16 This isn't animal cruelty. They are healthy, beautiful creatures. They are doing exactly what they were bred and trained to do, and that is to pull. There breed has been doing it for many, many years. I've seen many horses pull before and each and everyone gets excited before they are hitched to pull. Trust me, if these big guys didn't want to pull, it'd be very obvious. The one who fell, looked like he got clipped by his buddy. They are healthy and beautiful.

  • like if you clicked on 5:50

  • Such a stupid thing to do, they don't pull because they want to they get hit if they don't as loads of people have said.

  • they´re anxious to pull... yeah i think they ´re anxious because they are about be whipped you DUMBFUCK

  • @MarcoTUV Are you always so rude?

  • @MarcoTUV you got that right :)

  • @MarcoTUV It's their job just like any animal with a job they love to do it..look at race horses or working stock animals like cow horses and coe dogs their enjoy what they do so their always going to be eager not because their getting whipped!!!

  • @MarcoTUV Trust me accidents happen in every field no matter what it is!

  • Poor Horses! (No offence to you) They are bred to pull and enjoy it, just like a TB loves to run. The one on the right probably thought "Yes! Pull!" then got jerked to a stop because the other guy stood still. People can be so ignorant with horses some times! They are bred for that, enjoy that, and have fun.

  • MAN theres alot of ppl who missed the like button! at least these horse like to have a job to do, like many horses. they dont always like to lounge around doing nothing. my horse loves it when i give him a job to do no matter the effort.

  • i dont get the point of this thing :/

they just like there trying to pull something that they clearly cant :/

waste of time and poor horses ......

  • @EmziDavies210794 No they arnt they want to do this. It is there job and yes I agree with you I bet that thay would rather be eating hay at the moment but it is their job.

  • @RachaelDavis11 well i think it is pretty pointless and a stuipd job because they dont do anything!

  • those horses dont look anxious to pull they look scared out of their mind getting whipped continuously and repeatedly in the ass with the reins...

  • @cutezombieomnom shut up stupid

  • @breyercowgirl64 wtf? i can speak my opinion. so stfu

  • @cutezombieomnom you dont know what your talking about

  • @breyercowgirl64 umm i think i fucking do. ive been around horses my entire life. ive been riding for almost over ten years so i think i know what the fuck im talking about dumb ass. i know the breed if bred to pull heavy loads but these horses obviously cant pull this and the owners know yet they beat the shit out of them out of sport and entertainment.

  • @cutezombieomnom wow... you just proved yourself stupid again. these horses ARE bred to pull things dumb bitch. You need to research these things before you spit them out! THE OWNERS DO CARE ABOUT THEM! If they didnt then they would have made him get up! STUPID SACK! You dont know what your talking about! Go get some lessons

  • @breyercowgirl64 how bout you shut the fuck up and let me voice my opinion dumb cunt. i know they are bred to pull. stfu i do know what im talking about i just feel that it is a stupid way to fuckin show their ability. the owners obviously can see that they cant pull it yet they continue to whip the horses to make them do it. WHEN CLEARLY they cant

  • @cutezombieomnom THEY CLEARLY CAN! YOUR VERY TRASHY!

  • @breyercowgirl64 ummm for what? less than a fucking foot? stfu you stupid ass bitch

  • @cutezombieomnom potty mouth

  • These horses are bred to work and they like to do it just like sled dog they want to pull, so instead of thinking of them as people, which they are not, they want to work.

  • @MrVolfgar Yes we do tend to anthropomorphize animals. You're right, these horses are bred to pull heavy objects. And you can see in the video how anxious they are to pull. They're strong and powerful horses.

  • @yvettegr they are not anxious to pull!!!! all they want to do is to get away from the cinder blocks!!!!

  • @yvettegr I agree

  • i love working horse becouse they have such an attractive walk

  • @Anne123N And they are so awesome. These horses were huge, powerful, and beautiful.

  • For people (like me) who don't want to wait.

    5:50

  • @Ipodmoeilijk Thank you. I like your suggestion. I'll put the 5:50 up in the description bar.

  • Wow when the horse falls they only care about the straps to see if they broke. They don't even check the horse to see if hes okay.

  • @Pressthe8 They checked the straps to make certain the horses weren't tangled in them. The horses were completely checked out once they were taken over by the fence. I was horrified but was told that these horses aren't like racehorses. A fall like this for a racehorse would have resulted in a broken leg and the horse being put down. The legs on these horses are huge and well-protected.

  • @Pressthe8 They calmed the horse straight away, it got up and walked away fine. All the horses look well cared for and are all in good condition.

  • @Pressthe8 No problem, the horse is just a toy, a machine. (Not my opinion!)

  • not to be mean or anything but trust this to be an american sport :/ they always invente the stupidist thing :/ sorry but its true (this, rodeo etc..

  • @xXRosieLUVSPomPomXx Yeah. In addition to the horse pulls there are ox pulls and tractor pulls. And always the pulls are the most popular events at the county fair.

  • @xXRosieLUVSPomPomXx I like rodeos but i go for the horses and the herding not ofr the stuff like bronco breaking bull riding.

  • @xXRosieLUVSPomPomXx

try not to let your ignorance show there Rosie....search 'horse dragging' and see how wonderfully the Euro's treat their horses

  • @xXRosieLUVSPomPomXx THANK YOU.. someone else see's it

  • poor horses :'(

  • @ilovehorses36 Fortunately the horse was okay. They are huge muscular animals. A racehorse would have broken a leg and been put down. These horses are bred for fieldwork and pulling. But, pulling concrete blocks seems a bit excessive.

  • @yvettegr yeah i know.. and concrete blocks looked too heavy for the horses :(

  • @ilovehorses36 Well, there is leverage. They are being pulled over a dirt surface. smoothed to minimize friction.

  • lol i love how the guy grabs the halter and the horse looks at him like "im ok"

  • ONE of the reasons why this is cruel.

i think horses should only choose if they want to carry stuff like that... but be set free in the wild or on a field! the people who own them, only want publicity anyway! I really want to ride one of them!

  • @AbieyieLovesYou not true. and there are downsides to be "wild" or in a feild 1. your horse wouldnt want to leave, so have fun catching 2. you would not be able to ride, hence 1. and 3. if you set a horse wild something will kill it. they need to be more or less wild born, andyou cannot just set a dommestic animal into the wild.

  • @jukka2311 i know? but this is my opinion? domestic animals CAN be let into the wild, but I ment into a field, not totally in the wild! Horses, like these in the videos, are obviously ment for this, but you can easily tell the people only want to do this for THEIR benifet, not the horses.

  • @AbieyieLovesYou i understand that, but considering my horse roamed free in a pasture for about 2 years and could not be ridden or caught at all, is what im standing by. and a lot of draft horses like pulling, i mean, its in there blood to pull things. the big animals are born and bred for the sport

  • @AbieyieLovesYou I side with the horse. But these are actual working field horses. I think you'd come away very bow-legged riding one of these huge horses. They are very wide. Beautiful horses.

  • @AbieyieLovesYou

I don't think horses like to pull stuf OR ride people around.

  • we dont know what any animal likes! Were not mind readers. But my riding school care for horses, and I love each and everyone of them! I enjoy riding, and it's not really tortue like rodeo's are. but I do see your point.. and it may sound cruel, just getting on a horse whether they like it or not.. but it's not even like that. They are fully fed, with stables filled with hay! and get the up-most attention..

  • I hate to think how they teach the horses to do this. They're so wound up, looks to me like they're probably whipped into it at home. Horrid.

  • @Storm288 I also hope they're not whipped. This breed of horse has been specifically bred to work on farms and pull heavy things. Maybe it's the excitement of the pull. Just standing around waiting the horses didn't seem stressed or any different from other horses. When they went to do their "job" they knew what to do and seemed anxious to do it. Racehorses seem to have the same hyper activity going into the racing stall, but walking around they are a lot calmer.

  • @Storm288 I second that! I hate to imagine how they train these horses when there's not a big crowd standing around.

  • @Glorfinniel From talking to the owners I don't think they train them as much as just work then in the fields. These are farm work horses. The horses I petted didn't shy away (as they might if they'd been beaten). They were well-tempered, did not seem abused. They seemed anxious to pull, because that's what they do. Whether they should do it for show is another question.

  • rofl the team wouldn't hold still while the dude was hookin up the thingy

  • @TheWhisperWolf I took lots of videos of the horse pull and horses pulling everyone around before being hooked up was the standard. Sometimes it took them several times to get the chain on the hook, and then the horses took off immediately. These horses were huge and powerful.

  • I wouldn't call this bad the horse tripped and caught himself

  • @thewildmustang91 The horse on the left was actually hurt more than the one we see trip. But, both were all right.

  • I wouldn´t call this a true fall. He lost the balance, came down in a good way and immediatly got his balance back. Not very dangerous. Once this happened to me & my pony outside, and the ground was very wet. It was a wonder she didn´t broke her shoulder (thanks God^^). But it had enough risiks for the couple in the video, I won´t imagine what happened if te other horse fell too...:(

  • @Rimfaxe96 I went to the same Horse Pull this year and found out that the other horse was more seriously injured than the one we see falling. The other horse fell against the traces and bracing of the other horse. Fortunately, they both fully recovered. I was concerned about broken legs (as was everyone else watching). This year I talked with a Pull owner and he showed me one of his horses. They are bred with extremely thick muscled legs so they don't break like racehorses' legs.

  • @yvettegr I know. But if a pull horses' leg is broken, it needs more time to heal. Racehorses are bred for speed, the owners didn´t care about the bones. :( It could take a lot of time, but if there would someone breed a racehorse with Clydesdales x race horse, it could open the way for a race horse blood line with hard bones & maybe also enough potential to race as fast as all the other ones. But that´s just an idea, I guess no one would spend any money for such a project with so high risiks.

  • @Rimfaxe96 But wouldn't such a breed not be as sleek or fast as a pure racehorse? Would they ever be able to breed it as fast without losing the sleekness?

  • @yvettegr I don´t know, lol. I also don´t know enough about genetic and all this stuff^^

  • @Rimfaxe96 BTW I like your screen name. Hrimfaxi, (frost maned) as you know was Nott's horse and pulled her chariot. The drool from Hrimfaxi's bit formed the morning dew on Midgardr. The Norse Myths is a book I've written. I like your videos and horses. When I was a kid my father took me to see Man 'O War's grave in Kentucky.

  • @yvettegr Thanks^^ I heard of Hrimfaxi, and after that I saw a wonderful picture of a mist horse called "Rimfaxe", I choose this name^^ I wish I could og to Kentucky, I would visit all the graves...of Red Run, Ruffian, Man O War and all the others...x3 Norse Myths? Sounds interesting...:D I wish here in germany would be more books from outside...:(

  • I was just wondering if any medical attention was given to the horse who fell. It didn't seem as though anyone rushed over to check him out (including the owners). The first thing I would have done would be to examine his leg and get everything off of him and let him rest.

  • @yardconifer Yes. It had a bruise on it's right front let, which you can see if you look closely. The other horse was injured more because it fell against the near horse's braces. But, thankfully, ultimately, no injury was serious. This was their last pull of the day, so they didn't have to be taken out of the pull. The horses right after won the pull. I asked about the danger of broken legs and was told these are draught horses and their legs are much stronger than racehorses. Built for pulling

  • @yardconifer And I was wondering that, too. Why didn't they immediately take all the weight off him. But, apparently, this was considered a minor fall. I did check later just to make certain both horses were okay. They were fine.

  • nice video!

  • @16BIT48KHZ Thank you.

  • Wow, these guys are powerful. A full pull for the last team! Their handlers seem to have the biggest job just holding them back. Like a racehorse wants to run these workhorses need to dig in and pull with all they've got. Very impressive. Do you remember how much weight was in the cinderblock sled?

Looked like they were more worried about the RR hoof of the one that didn't fall in that team. Maybe stepped on a part of the rigging that wasn't as forgiving as the soft dirt.

  • @lloydhofer I checked. Each cinderblock is 500 pounds. That would make this load 7,000 pounds. I think the announcer said the horses weighed over a ton each. I've been to the Budweiser plant in Merrimack, NH, and seen the Clydesdales. These horses were bigger.

  • @yvettegr Their probably all Belgiums and Percherons which are smaller than Clydesdales.

  • @661944 Thank you for that information. My first thought was Percherons. I did ask but the person I asked just said they were draught horses and didn't know specifically. I didn't get an opportunity to ask any of the owners. I had to go to another event after the pull but before the awards ceremony.
