You should always double layer hammocks so they don't chew through them as fast and hang by things they can't chew through. Nice tutorial though for non-chewers.

Oops. Sent befire i finished... Just letting you know i just used this tutorial and it was great! I only used two layers instead of the three and did it in a triangle as a corner hammock. Worked really well. I just used an old vest top for material because i'm a cheap student ;) thanks!

Do they actually go into the different layers? I've got a hammock that only has the two squares and the girls have only gone inside once, the rest of the time they just lounge on top lol. Did you encourage them to go in the layers with treats or was it just natural curiosity? Thanks for the video by the way, it looks really easy and I'd love to try it :)

@xxhellokittyyyxx The cage in the Video was a Superpet Large Multifloor Ferret Cage. I did upgrade to a Ferret Nation. :) I got 2 Ferret Nations, and put them together. :)

What are the measurements on this project? I know it would have to be adjusted for different size animals, but I'm looking for a starting point to work with for my rats. Thanks for making these tutorials!

@13kalgsto04 I started out with a 10x10 square, then went up to 11.5x11.5, and the largest square was 13 or 14 inches I think. I am guessing here. You just have to lay them on top of each other, and cut around. :)

I'm so sorry to hear that! Was it one you made? Like in the Video? I know some of my fuzzies weren't accustomed to sleeping in hammies, and I had to PUT THEM in there myself at first. Now they won't sleep anywhere else! LOL

No, I bought the big exotics cage and it came with a hammock but my girls will not use it, I put them in it and they run off of it lol. I bought them a wheel today and only the youngest one is using it but it's so adorable!!

My babies didn't use any of the store bought hammocks either. I threw them all out. They are just too stiff for them. The fleece ones are much more comfy. Try making some. I would LOVE to hear if they would use one made by "mom". Fleece is stretchy and cozy, and they LOOOVE cozy! :)

Two of my babies died yesterday...I made a video about them but I'm so sad...I now have 3 girls and 1 boy .. I will probably adopt more rats but right now my heart is breaking:( I will try making the fleece ones soon..thanks

@paulandashia Well they were so young, they just got infected by one of my older ones and they started dying one after the other, I did get a miracle though, one of my females became pregnant ( by accident) and had 11 beautiful babies, I only kept one female and 2 males from the litter but they are so cute and sweet and not sick!!

with 1 fleece baby blanket i got for a $1 at the 99 cent store i was able to make 1 triple hammock 2 double hammocks and 1 hanging tunnel :) now that's a dollar well spent. great video

Any fabric store should have fleece. I get whatever is on sale, seeing as the boys really don't care so much. :) And yeah, the Tripples are some of their favorites! :)
