THe game is alot of fun now and leveling up is so easy. Yes youstill need to grind but quest also level you up fast. For the end game its basicly who has teh most money in real life to spend to make your char strong. IMO not a game to play if you dont have a job and money to send on end game godly stuff.

Update Maplestory STILL SUCKS PLAY BETTER GAMES LIKE Windslayer it has PvP at least and you could dash in the game and the classes and story is much better than kill monsters all day. Play fiesta or Mabinogi I mean on Nexon.com Maplestory is laugh stock of all the games

Why are all the WoW players getting so defensive? MY OPINION:

WoW is a great game, i've played it before. Except when WoW players say there is no exact story to MapleStory, keep in mind, WoW doesn't have a story either. WoW is [to me] an equivalent of "Harry Potter" [if you exclude all the playable trolls/ elfs-- OH WAIT. THEY HAVE TROLLS AND ELFS IN HARRY POTTER TOO.]

Now, im not hating on WoW. Just know that WoW isn't any better, it's equal. :D[and MapleStory actually has better graphics.]

Wow is based on a storyline dumbass,so get your facts right first.There were 3 games before wow building up it's storyline,they even have hundreds of pages online of wow story there are even a couple of books.And yeah i agree with you on the part that MS doesn't have a story,also wow is not equal to this shitty '99 Korean based grindathon.Oh yeah there aren't any elves in Harry Potter nor elfs for that matter(ever heard of a spell check?).

@SuperDuperStarz WoW and MapleStory do have a story, from what I know...its just that MapleStory's...err...story...i­s pretty....decent. Just black mage attacking the Maple World and stuff. I never actually played WoW, but I'm assuming that it does have a story, since most MMORPGs have one.

Yes, they do have a cash shop. But really, that's like expecting a drunken washed up grocery store lobby Santa saying "Merry Christmas" if you don't put a nickel in his cup. The game needs to have some form of income otherwise it can't stick around. And at least they let you play it otherwise. Yes, it has a wide playerbase of young kids, but where the hell else will they go? There can't soley just be adult themed MMORPGs. It's a new era, kids play games, get the hell over it.

Aside from that fact that most Free To Play MMORPG's on the market due require grinding to an extent or a degree, I have to disagree that it is a con for this game. You are also factoring out the fact that there are far more other things to do than NORMAL quest. There are PQ's, which even divide into subcategories of their own, such as Monster Carnival, or that Arabian one where you collect jewels and basically fight against other players.

I have to admit I played MapleStory multiple times, but the only reason was for the friends. I have grinded, but I have grinded in most MMORPGs, like FlyFF for example.

The game has grind sure alot of MMO's do but Maplestory's real issues are.

1) The game is free but you pretty much need NX in order to get game currency which is lame.

2)The community is horrible

3)The overall concept of the game is generic at best the quest seem pointless because there isnt a real story to the game.

Ok, Brad... unless they have DRASTICALLY changed the amount of experience it takes to level or increased the amount of experience gained, there is no way you could make level 30 in 2 hours in this game. Maybe if you are playing on a private server with ampt up xp, but otherwise no way.

Secondly, its a free MMO... a highly advertised free MMO... its going to have a lot of accounts because its free. Is that even the number of active accounts or just accounts in general?

This was an absolutely horrible review. I believe that this game is much much better than WOW, and other similar games. And WOW has only around 11 Millions worldwide players....

Seriously, you only got to what lvl 20, it is much more fun later in the game.

and obviously you have never played wow either. seriously, i just cannot fathome of why people still play this "game" ill even be nice and not comment on the grinding.but the simple fact it takes months and months of playing to even fight a boss shows the developers are a bunch of scrubs. bosses are stationary. some move but move randomly no matter whats attacking it. attacks are random. which proves that coding this game is easier than coding zelda 64. atleast bosses recognize to defend itself.

I totally agree. He does not get deterred by the smaller features in Maple Story, such as the worthless minigames. What he forgot to mention though was the community. In my little brother's experience, its full of hackers, scammers, and generally mean people, and the mods are never there. In my opinion, this game is quite the unique blend that has a good initial taste, but the aftertaste and heartburn makes it not worth it. How people got addicted to this, I shall never know.

Isn't..... EVERY MMO almost a grind a thon? Guild Wars DOES have a storyline but after that people want titles and fancy armor and to vanquish areas in hard mode (Vanquishing is killing every monster in the area srsly)
