  • Its like a tribute to the other songs, but they just pale compare to bad which really shines in contrast.

  • Not a huge Bono or U2 fan, but this song is beautiful.

  • le meilleur groupe de la terre

  • monkey man ,one word for you inbremotherfuckingsistershaggingcocksukinganalbandit, given a choice you would swap places with Bono in a second, but thats how long you would last monkey man!!!!!!!Ha Ha

  • it is a good video. can't say anymore.

  • I was at that gig - the best gig ever Christy Dighnan The Pogues the Rats InTua Nua DeDannan CWN The Cheiftans Gary Moore with Thin Lizzy Van Morrison The Pretenders Christy Moore Elvis Costello and a few others I can't remember...

It was originaly a tribute to Phil Lynott and was to be called Drug Aid, but out of respect for Philomena they called it Self Aid

  • Monkey man, you must be a shitkicker hick. Thats such a tired comment. Where your parents related before they were married. Make monkey man history

  • politics or not about bono, u2 are if not the best live band ever! he has the best voice ever!!!! long live bono and u2!!!! fuck his politics side!!! i love the u2 bono

  • monkey#1:

bono has made, is making and will continue to make history and change the world for the best. he probably accomplishes more in the first hour he wakes up than you do in a week. he's one of the most powerful and influential people in the world and he uses it to help others. are you jealous?

  • If we give him a Noble peace prize do you think he would f8ck off?might be worth it!

  • You may not like the chap, but that's going a bit far.

  • You have some valid points but you still use the same tired argument that all your sort do: he's done something that isn't enough and I've done nothing so I can criticise him. Get off the internet and do some charity work if you care so much.

  • labhras99:

bet you wish you were the anti-christ, then!

evil? people bitch because he doesn't do enough. people bitch when he does do something good, such as raising funds here. the more good he does, the more hateful comments he gets, go figure. confusion is the devils playground. bono isn't confused, you are.

  • God, look at Bono's smile at 1:50. sexy sexy.

  • for those complaining about his voice, go listen to opera. rock music isn't the genre for you.

bono reinvents his voice and u2 recreate new music with every album.

  • The most aptly titled song in the history of music.

  • haha is voice is brutal now makes me laugh u ppl dnt have a clue! he is nearly 50 and has been singing half of his life, his voice in the vertigo was still the nuts, better than ppl like brendon flowers, robbie willams! his voice is only gettin started agen cnt wait till nxt tour

  • For all of you who think his voice isn't as good as it once was, check out Bono's recent performance of "Stay" at Union Chapel. You will see it as powerful and as clear as it is in this wonderful video. Please watch that before you insult the man...

  • Absolutely! Every song there, Stay, angel of harlem, desire and wave of sorrow(beautiful JT era song) his voice was strong and he was hitting all of the notes. His voice was on the upswing for the last part of the vertigo tour, especially for streets, pride and bad, and the trend seems to have continued, indeed gotten better w/union chapel! I've heard he is trying to quit smoking and is taking better care of his voice in general. Next tour will be phenomenal, I'm sure! Bono is back.

  • Remember seeing this when I was visiting Ireland and my cousins popped this in the video - jeeezus it was mind-blowing. That venom is his hit out on one of the magazines in Ireland taking a cheap shot at them. I remember seeing "Streets ..." debuted live, while flicking channels in Wales ... I remember that as being slightly surreal as well :)

  • is voice is brutal now cos he fuckin' smokes and drinks too much booze.

  • The reason his voice isnt as good as it used to be is becoz hes getting older and plus hes been singing for freaking years and years! I think his voice is allowed to be off...His voice during popmart and elevation was amazing but i think this time round its been the best since zootv. Keep it up bono..cant wait for the next album and tour!

  • what a find! this is the best performance of bad ive seen, his voice is unparalleled and the crowd play there part aswell. well done who ever found this vid. thank you

  • wht annoys me most is that some ppl say that bono can't sing! if he can't i really don't know who can!

  • no one can honestly say he cant sing !

  • his voice is sooo crappy now. i think during this time of 1985 - 1987 was his best vocal performance. Now days, its like either he losted it or really don't give a shit about his voice during live performance. Watch the recent Milan concert and you'll see what i mean.

  • are you out of your mind Loctus? his voice is amazing! his voice has gotten better since, god bless him, his father died. He can sing like never before, Milan was fantastic! you're living under a rock

  • Now that was one special version - love the venom in his words at the end

  • just nearly cried this was my first time i saw u2 live been 45 times now, nobody touches me quite like them

  • Self Aid was a benefit concert in Dublin to help sort out unemployment in Ireland in 1986.

  • o and another thing what song is it that bono takes an extract from plz click reply coz i dont check these plz:)

  • candle in the wind by elton john, he changes the lyrics though about dublin magazines

  • also walk on the wild side by lou reed

  • the words 'sweet mercyful crap this has to be the best song i have ever hear' spring to mind;) i wonder why???hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • especially great bono in this performance. He sings the wide awake part so easily instead of resorting to yelling it.

  • get the whole thing!

  • I have never seen this version before..

    Love it..

    Bono looks awesome..

    U2 Is The Greatest!!!

  • Thank you so much. Have the audio of this but have seen the video. One of my favourite versions of this song. Great footage of Larry who has a very heavy snare and bass on this. Thanks again.

  • C'mon, more comments needed here.

  • An angry Bono makes for a good performance. Apparently the show had been slagged in advance by some Dublin papers. Hence the bit at the end.
