This was really nice. I'm a drummer first and foremost, but I'm trying to get a set of vibes and work on some jazz things or stuff I could do in clubs. I'm sure i'll break out some of the Bach though.
Thank God there are no videos of my senior recital! lol I think Bach rolled in his grave during my mallet pieces lol
Actually the vibes always seem kinda challenging to me. I love the sound they produce, but it requires much more sound control. My teacher basically made me learn Bach on vibes just to get my feet wet (although I ended up neck deep LOL).
Good tones coming out of the vibes and an interesting rendition - sure beats hearing it on marimba all the time. Did you play from an arrangement or just the original violin part?
I learned it straight out of the violin parts. I think there might have been one chord that I had to voice differently, but other than that everything was laid out smoothly and ready to be played. I of course played the occasional clams, but that's just how it goes. Thanks for watching.
I enjoyed this piece very much. However, at the time it was performed it wasn't prepared as well as it could have. Also, my mallet chops at the time and confidence weren't as strong as to say those of the timpani and snare drum. Thanks for watching.
I sure did. I think out of nervousness my mallet impulsively stroke a WAY wrong note a couple of times. LOL. Eh, it happens. Thanks for commenting and watching.
Check your phrasing. Especially in the beginning. And open the piece with substance!

A good advice is to not bend your head forward. you will, when you get older, have neck problems. stand steady, with your head straight up!

Awesome! Never knew you also play the vibes! Do you like to play any other types of music on the vibes?

do you enjoy this piece? It doesn't have nearly as much life to it as the timpani and snare music you have posted.

r u in a jazz band?

I don't really play jazz vibes, I usually do drumset. This is more for like a classical percussion recital type deal. Thanks for your comment.
