  • @xDavidlol I'm confused...where did I state that "Karate is not the way of the empty hands, and uses weapons"?

  • I have never studied in karate, I have done taekwondo, kung fu, and capoeira along with basic training in plenty of styles via people who studied them. I follow more practical styles, kung fu was to train physically also it has some pretty good stuff, it was fun though. Kung Fu is effective and taekwondo I did specifically was effective. But I know plenty of martial artists, and there are a lot of shit everywhere, even in styles that are thought superior. I have a strong karate friend, very

  • a true master. oss. respect.

  • In fact i do not train sport karate at all, but shotokai, my master refuses any competition and he really know what he does since he has dedicated his life to it.

But I´ll acept everything else you said because ill admit that i never asked my master about weapons, i assumed there were none because we never used one, well we use the bo thats all

  • @xDavidlol If you are karate you should learn tonfa, that is what karate practitioners typically use.

  • @BushidoCode72 I'm not typing this to be a smart guy or anything. Just to say that if all you've seen of karate is from your local dojos and it looks like crap, it probably is. BUT, that's just because they're not REAL karate. It's not so world famous for nothing. You just have to know where to look, and sometimes that can be pretty hard with all the shit out there.

Again, i'm not trying to be confrontational here, just trying to inform you.

  • @BushidoCode72 stances are ONLY used for the moment of impact. and that impact is famously deadly. in Shotokan, we practice to get to a level of "Ikken Hisatsu", or "to kill with one strike". And Shotokan in particular is famous for its incredibly explosive speed and power.

I've met and trained with REAL Shotokan masters, and they're fucking scary. they could kill you as fast as you can blink.

    I'

  • @BushidoCode72 if you someone says there's no grabbing moves or throws in karate, they're probably not very good at it. if they say everything's block and then strike, they're probably not very good. if you see someone that knows karate fight and they're standing in stances and blatanly/noticeably using a basic block, they're probably not very good.

Real karate, Shotokan in particular i think (just my opinion), is INCREDIBLY dangerous. There are no actual "blocks" in karate. they're all strikes

  • No one is doing anything 'wrong.' JKA - Shotokan and most Karate systems (be they Okinanwans or Japanese - which are watered down Okinawan) are all VERY outdated. Their principles of blocking, and punching are just plain NOT RIGHT. That is why the majority of traditional Karateka would LOSE QUICK to anyone with very very very basic boxing or even wrestling. Even Funakoshi wrote about the importants of grappling in his book Karate-do My way of Life.

  • I used to be a Karate master, then I took an arrow to the gi.

  • Nitsa Sai Viguza O Sai, Sukura Omazi Tezua, Kuzoku.

  • @4.07 is it Hirokazu Kanazawa Sensei ?

  • muito bom o kata final

  • A legendary Karate master has traveled to the future from the past to teach his secret martial art to the next generation of warriors. However, Youtube is standing in his way of keeping his lethal skills secret. Now the country of Japan must back one of their finest warriors - from the past!

  • what dan was he ?

  • true karate

    OSU!!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautiful...for people that really practice karate, this is beautiful. Thanks for sharing man.

  • martial arts is self defense and to protect other people, not to kick some ass !!!!!!!

it's true that there are jutsu that can kill with one strike,it's forbidden and only can be used with sensei's permission of course.no offense but the western people(mostly but not all of them) do the martial arts only for style(some for show off),they actually don't understand the true meaning of martial arts.unlike the asians(japan, china, korea),we do understand it.let us show some discipline n respects.

    osu !

  • karate is a good philosophy, but even a mediocre wrestler will take down a martial artist.

  • @gtisthebest247

the wrestler will get 1-2shot before he could even get a grip on a decent ma fighter

  • @stfunoobkty why do the people in mma with wrestling experience always kick ass?

  • @gtisthebest247

i've noted that also, however that's why i said "decent" ma fighter, many of them actually suck for whatever reason.

  • @gtisthebest247

because a surprisingly huge amount of fighters do not know how to properly punch and kick

  • @clandestinepig What are they doing wrong?

  • @gtisthebest247 sorry you dont know what you are talking about,Karate is about developing mind and spirit and self defence of others its not about winning its about self preservation.,real karate contains all the elements of fighting throwing grappling, tactics weapons,in the end its not the style that wins its the man, sport Karate is something else maybe thats what you are comparing wrestling with,

an experience karateka with the will to survive would not be easy to be defeated

  • @retardedjoe12 I do not think REAL KARATE (whatever that is) contains anything of any value if faced with anyone who knows how ot fight. Kyokushin guys, and some offshoots of Kyokushin, have actually begun cross training in Muay Thai and boxing. Yes, some Shotokan masters also hold black belts in Judo. But, karate on it's own is very very limmiting with 80% NOT having any real world application.

  • Train, train, train. This is the secret to all martial arts.

  • @gelliebellieful A failure, huh? One, you are comparing a Shotokan Karate specialist to Wing Chun specialists. Two, you probably know NOTHING about the JKD philosophies that Bruce Lee emphasized on. Three, you most likely have no background on martial arts whatsoever and still have the guts to call a JKA instructor a "failure". I have absolutely no authority to limit what you want to say, but I advise you to think before you embarrass yourself and disrespect Asai and the JKA.

  • @asianprideyeex2 I agree with you in everything you said but one thing, karate is by definition way of the empty hand, it does not use weapons.

  • @xDavidlol you need to look at your history, all karate systems used weapons at one time ,even funakoshi, those that dont now, have not been taught their teachers probably didnt know, empty hand is nothing to do with the fact you dont have a weapon.

what some of you guy who are knocking karate, forget that all karate systems did at one time use throwing, locks, aremi mine certainly does, fights are not won in the ring fighting for real is totally different to sport Karate,

  • @asianprideyeex2 Para de palhaçada.

  • @asianprideyeex2 Didn't read what they said but you know Bruce Lee studied Wing Chun, JKD is the style he made.

  • hahaha he is a failure, i have seen much better. hahaha him vs ip man or bruce lee.

  • @gelliebellieful don't disrespect. You called him a failure so I take it you've achieved a lot more than him?

  • @gelliebellieful you would lose a fight to a random street thug, so I think you're a failure

  • I believe this man is the inspiration for Street Fighter's Ryu

  • @V3NOMXIII actually ryu is based on yoshiji soeno from kyokushin

  • @reymysteriocookie I do yeah, I meant no harm. The thought just popped into my head and I thought it was funny.

In my defence though, I was half asleep.

  • @reymysteriocookie You thought that you'd written that you're 26, even though you're still in school....far out!

  • great vid

  • KARATE IS LIFE

  • Outstanding Master Asai, much respect to his memory, vision, technique and Evolution

  • Age doesn't matter because ones body is like water

you can freeze it and sculpt it to the most beautiful thing but if you leave it and do not tend to it, it will melt and return to water. Experience is what makes a master a master not Age

  • @lovelessAlx Well stated. peace.

  • whats the difference between Goju Ryu and Kyokushin?

  • Remember I was here.Thai

  • i practice goju and shotokon, and couldn't agree more, karate is very good for the mind and body.

  • is mohamad a mozlin?

  • yes you are right i started in 8 years and i now have 13.My style is called Shotokan and i have green belt.Karate is not for lazy peoples.

  • @ColossusPn I do shotokan as well. I am a black belt, and may i tell you the road was not easy. It takes a lot of work and dedication to get to the rank of black belt. I wish you luck in your quest to achieve this rank, and remember- achieving your mastery is a new beginning, not the end. Live Shotokan.

  • @lightningunner sooo true my friend! it takes loads of dedication and sacrifice, but it gives you a lot in return

  • I love this video. This is how karateka fights. Not jumping around and doing western boxing like nowadays. This one is original karate way of sparring.

  • @ganryu82 GREAT comment. I love these pure karate videos. Karate is different. We know this. Osu

  • Kara te = open hand

Πανκαράτειον (pankarateion) = holding/ebeing in control of everything

  • kara te= empty hand

  • Mi gran respeto a un Shihan, Asai. es un leyenda. recibi sus instruciones y consejos Domo Arigato, Oss.

  • I Started with Shotokan Karate when i was 14, I have tried all other martial arts but I always found myself back at Karate, Its in the Blood !!!

  • i did tae kwon do wen i was young. bcause of job oppurtunities i had to stop wen i was 17. ive been sittin behind a desk 4 along time now. but i joined a kenpo karate dojo last year just got my purple. no matter how old u r jus something bout martial arts makes u feel good

  • tetsuhiko likamatakasaka na potege pisiora zdechlego ptaka

  • must be nice to fight against choreographed loser moves, sure makes him look good.

  • i'm thinking of starting a martial art but i don't know which one to do

  • @whydothegoodieyoung If you want to start something for self defense, then start boxing, its the real deal

  • boxing and brazilian jui jitsu

  • @elchicho25 why not Karate there is nothing wrong with it providing its taught the proper way.

  • @Cannibal600 ITs not bad but not very practical in street fights.. what happens when your opponent takes you to the ground?

  • @elchicho25 well you have to got to do your best to make sure that does not happen Shotokan/Shotokai is in my opinion the best Karate to learn because it can be quite lethal. What martial art do you do?

  • @Cannibal600 I did shorin ryu years ago.. then boxing for a year.. then brazilian jui jitsu and Jeet Kun do.. now Im too old and fragile.. LOL

  • @Cannibal600- shotokan is no better than any other form of karate. and the focus on strength will not work for all people (that's strength with techniquebefore you say anything).

  • @ajdaemon08 I understand what your saying you must practice anouther form of Karate which is fine, i have always felt more comfortable with Shotokan/Shotokai rather then something like Freestyle. But then again i guess all different forms of Karate has advantages and disadvantages.

  • @Cannibal600- certain styles work better for certain people, and that goes within karate. unfortunately there's no shotokan dojos around where i live, but one day i'll give it ago.

  • do shotokan karate or judo. two really great martial arts. Shotokan they teach you to kill a person with one strike.

  • @eidlyn spoken like a complete novice, everyone knows thats bollox. Its a philosophy derived from one strike 1 kill of the samurai swordsman.Karate in the vast majority of schools is a poor form of self defence.Judo at least has contact ,full resistance and will if you take it seriously get you very strong and fit.

  • @billysue2 hah! you underestimate the power of shotokan- it's true killing with one strike is not taught, but it is far from a poor form of self defense. you speak like one that only uses martial arts as a way to get fit, not as a lifestyle. Judo has too many flaws- primarily that it is almost impossible to fight more than one person using it- you apply all your force to one person. Karate teaches one to apply full force to as many people surround you using blows, more effective than grapples.

  • @billysue2- judo isn't very good for self defence through, the gripping leaves you very open to strikes, and the stance leaves you open to groin strikes.

  • I will try to practice again regardless of the pain in my legs. arigatou! PrAmAtHa

  • it's amazing how cordial and helpful all the comments on karate sites are. you should see how stupid and nasty the comments are on mma, and boxing sites.

  • Because some of the basic things for a Karateka are education, respect, honor, cordiality and be a person with a heart, spirit and soul cleans, like his mind...

There´s only one thing that can change this good ambient. The typical comment about "my martial art is better" That kind of comments that I never understand.

Is simple... Feel free to do what you want and respect other elections...

    Oss

  • hahaha it is never too old for martial arts... If I remember correctly, I wasn't allow to train in certain exercises and techniques until I was older in my country because certain techniques required precise execution and power and most importantly how and when to use it. Your kid, you do not have that yet.

  • i have started a year ago, when i was 26. So what? All that talks about "i'm too old" are for lasy peoples. It's never too late for things that makes your life better. Of course, my style is not sport style. I'm practicing goju-ryu. And i found it's good for my health (mental and pshysic).

  • I agree. I was 27 when I started two years ago in Shorin Ryu.

  • @xbrother1980

One guy joined the class I was in at age 70, and by 74 he was black belt. Now that's impressive :D

  • I have started when I was 24 years old. And I am glad about it. It is ok!

  • lasy peoples??

  • @kavolis so your 26 and in your physical prime and your saying your so great because your better than those people that say there "too old". LMFAO that shit is for guys that are 40+ and your trying to say your better than their excuses? hahaha you self righteous faggot.

  • @kavolis I totally agree. I'm 42 and just began Goju Ryu. It's harder than it was when I was younger but I'm still loving it. Osu.

  • @majin2912 you actually started @ 42??? I'll be 44 soon, did lots of running, and I used to be a close-combat instructor in the army, many years ago! what do you think? I take my girls to the dojo and watch every lesson, but the threshold is just too high for me...and yet it itches soooo bad...

  • @allesinmetaal yeah and I just got my yellow belt last weekend. I work at it every day so I'm moving along quickly. I must mention that I studied Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu when I was younger so I'm not a neophyte where MA is concerned.

  • @kavolis good for you bro--I wish you the best!!

  • @kavolis do you use meditation or yoga to improve your focus and abiltity?

  • @kavolis goju ryu is pretty damn good. And when they say your too old it just means it will take longer to develop flexibility. Thats odd because I practice goju ryu with sensei frank clayton and we do it sport wise but I still win against stronger better people cause his technique is very good.

  • @kavolis U ARE SO RIGHT, SO RIGHT, I LIKE THE WAY U TALK, JUST ONE THING, U SAY YOUR 28, WELL I AM 50 AND I CAN OUT TRAIN ANY 28 YEAR OLD UNLESS THEY ARE A PROFESSIONAL

  • @kavolis you right, i'm 25 yrs old, brown belt in kyokushinkai karate, i have great sempai,he is 55 yrs old and kick my ass in every kumite, doing good tameshiwari anytime, and u know what he started training when he is 33 yrs old, learn karate from zero, soo like what u said "too old " only for weak people, osu

  • @kavolis I started shotokan at 19 and it changed me a lot in 2 years. never too late to start learning.

  • @kavolis older age is better to start learning the arts. your body has ceased growing, therefore helping you master your carnal shell much faster than if you begin at a younger age. Also, your level of spiritual and mental involvement is much higher around this age. Drive on with your journey. "Every great spiritual metamorphosis, begins with a physical metamorphosis"

  • @kavolis goyu-RYU? i play street fighter too...HAHAHAHAHA

  • @freddy692000 dude RYU means School

  • @kavolis :-) GOOD for you!!!

  • @kavolis Don't worry about being 26!! I started at 25 with on and off martial arts experience before hand and after training 5 or 6 days a week for a couple years I was able to handle guys that had fought at the shoto cup. I don't train for sport either. Budo style for me. Just train hard. You make the most progress in the first few years after that it's just a lot of technical polishing and sharpening your fighting mindset.

  • @oboroshogun you're right, I started practicing shotokan karate half a year ago. Now I have the 6th Kyu, but it's all about the mindset, not the age when you start to practice. When your mindset is good, your karate will be good as well.

  • @oboroshogun what is budo sir?

  • @kavolis right martial is not only for self defense its also for your health

  • @kavolis Fuck, you're so right

  • @kavolis

Some of the best martial artists in the USA started when they were 27-30 now much much older but that was in the 70's. Those guys still kick ass so you are completely right, its never to late to start.

  • @kavolis thats the right spirit for karate!

  • @kavolis Couldnt agree more. I studied/practised Karate for 5 yrs as a youngster (9-14 yrs of age), now I'm 34 and plan on getting back into it. I made those same excuses myself over the years...not any more though.

  • Too bad the camera is was slow and choppy, this guys got some talent but I think a lot of it was missed.

  • I started when I was 6... I left Karate with 17 because of work, studies and most things... Started again with 22 and left finally after a year. Now I have 26 and think all the days about karate. I need Karate in my life and still doing movements or thinking about katas whe I work.... KARATE IS THE BEST OF THE DRUGS AND IN THE END... A WAY OF LIFE. IF YOU DON´T FEEL LIKE THIS, YOU DON´T FEEL KARATE.

(Sorry if my english is bad ^^ )

  • @PrAmAtHa I agree with you, I am old and been in a car`accident and cannot do the kicks I use to do, but until now in my old age I still think about Karate everyday and teach it to those who are serious, I have a mix of GojuRyu, WadoRyu, UechiRyu, in my time.........Osu!

  • The age is never a limit for an strong mind with strong convictions. Thanks for your response and I hope that you continue with your vision forever... Oss

  • @PrAmAtHa

i know what you mean. i used to live and breathe karate (shotokan). I trained six days a week and it was always on my mind too but then I got a job that required so many hours that i couldn't train. then i got hit by a car and now it's impossible for me to train. i miss it everyday.

  • Shotokan was my election too. What I practice all my life... =)

I´m really sorry for your accident. I hope that someday you will can practice Karate again. Continue with the spiritual part of Karate. Even more important that the physical part.

My best wishes for you... Oss

  • @PrAmAtHa 26 its not old my friend, this sport is the best, am 35 and i have a year practicing, and now like you say, its my drug i love it. help you in life.

  • @PrAmAtHa i 13 and i started when i was 12 or something i am studuing wado ryu i think its called i love martial arts even if im only 13 and have the yellow belti studuingat home with katas and different ways to train up speed and strength my karate trainer has told me that im an natural talent ( sorry for my bad english )

  • @sum41foreverown Your english is good, mine is bad! xD 13 years is a good moment for start. Don´t think that you are too young. I think that the more young that you are is the best to learn. You will have a good base and like in study... You have to take the habit and finally you will feel Martial Arts like a part of you and your life.

If you have a natural talent, take advantage of it. Don´t waste it... =)

  • @PrAmAtHa your English kicks fucking ass.....way to go dude.

  • @mcul2112 tyvm ^^

  • @PrAmAtHa That was touching. Im going start for the first time at the age of 22!

  • @PrAmAtHa I started when I was 6, I quit Karate when I was 17 because I had to work, study, etc. I started again when I was 22 and left after a year. Now I'm 26 and all I think about is Karate! I need Karate in my life and I'm still doing the movements/formations or thinking about [the katas] while I work. KARATE IS THE BEST OF THE (Martial Arts?) AND IN THE END; A WAY OF LIFE! IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, YOU AREN'T ONE WITH KARATE!

I fixed it for you because your story is cool, bro.

  • @PrAmAtHa I know exactly what you mean man. its like, everything reminds you of it. This happens to me with karate, capoeira, and jujitsu...

  • @PrAmAtHa i dnt do karate i do tae kwon do but only a 4 day trial im addicted to it but it suck my mom wontlet me im 10

  • @PrAmAtHa That should tell you something. The karate seems to be in your soul. Which is a good thing.

  • I've started at 12 but then i left when i got my greenbelt.. now im almost 20 and i think it was a bad decision to stop training XP

  • @elopolemal very bad, you should have kept training.

  • @elopolemal

you can always start again. no reason not to unless you have an injury.

  • @elopolemal

20 is still very young. you can become very good if you start now.

  • i just started karate, and I love it, I am 15 years old, so I started pretty late, any chance for me to get to the best, i really want it, I wanna dedicate my life to it

  • never lose that feeling

  • you will be bruc lee one day your still baby

  • What type of karate?

  • fifteen isnt too late to start, never is too late. i started karate at about the same age. may i offer you some advice. two things. make sure that every strike you are taught is real, for example, kicks are meant to go through your opponent, not to them with a cool slapping sound. another thing is, branch out if you get the chance, do other martial arts as well, it will help you understand how to use your karate techniques better.

  • Its never to late my friend.

Some start young other start when they have to start.

    I started at 5.

But keep on with that passion friend!

    OSU!

  • to young? it never to young i started when i was 19 :) almost 21 now and im holding a green belt.

  • The sensei of my shotokan dojo started karate at 17 years old and now has his own dojo and is V dan so 15 is not late at all. And his dojo is really not a mc dojo!

  • As big and feracious dinosaurs were, they were all killed by a tiny rock.

  • Bahhh mephiskapheles?

I haven't heard them in years!

  • is this shotokan karate?

  • Yes.

  • Gran maestro Asai tube la oportunidad de asistir a su curso dictado en Lima Peru

  • un verdadero hombre del karate

tecnica perfecta, acero en la mirada y humildad en la sonrisa...

  • Comment removed

  • Technique is more important than style(s). The style system was invented to keep masters on top and students beholden to them.

Belts are to hold your pants up. There are 2 parts to fighting: theory and application. You must meet some physical requirements for application that can't be met online.

Otherwise, training alone is better than not training at all but it's no substitute for a good school.

  • Wait a min who is this guy? Cause another Youtube video says that Bruce Lee is "The True Master Of Martial Arts."

  • I think even Bruce Lee would disagree with that statement. That's why he was always trying to improve his art. I always wondered what he would think of what's going on in terms of MMA today. For all practical purposes, he's the father of it.

  • yeah more than likely. I forgot what movie that was that said you can learn all the styles you want but you wont be able to master them all.

I believe it always depend on the person and not the style.

Hey what do you think about people now a days getting their black belts online?

  • Bruce lee was a film star by the way like Hulk hogan and the undertaker.

There were many martial arts masters at the time of bruce lee but they did not have the opportunity to be like bruce lee or maybe they were not handsome like him. There are many masters nowadays and no body knows about them.

  • bruce lee was the creator of Jeet Kun Do in case you didn't know, and he was a teacher of martial arts on top of being a film star. He also had a very deep philosophy for martial arts that he considered to be just as
