Wherever she is from she sings like the angels must sing.I only wish I could speak and understand Czech and Slovakian...but ....Alas!! my knowledge is limited to 7 Latin languages and a bit of English.Her voice is pure honey and gold, like fine silk and velvet...Her breath control and legato just amazing...What a magnificent singer!!!!! @palivap Inak to je super, že to vyzerá akoby to spievala česká speváčka... :) hlavne keď je Beňačková slovenka. Ale treba uznať, že jej čeština je fajn a ťažko sa to rozlišuje.

podle mě hodně naivní názor - kdo umí, ten umí a je jedno, jestli je zrovna krajan. Jiný český poklad od Dvořáka - Novosvětskou, jsem neslyšel zahrát líp než od Karajana, dvořákův koncert pro cello zase od Rostropovice a Guilliniho, atd.

ale jinak - souhlas - tahle verze ke masterpiece!!!

there are lots of wonderful sopranos doing this aria so I could never choose because often I was influenced by the awe I felt for most of them.

However, once I heard the aria on the radio and thought that was the most beautiful interpretation I had ever heard, not knowing who the woman was. Luckily the name of the performer was announced at the end of the piece. It was Gabriela Benackova...

Benackova ou Fleming ? C'est le grand débat pour Rusalka. Moi, c'est Benackova, pure comme du cristal de ...Bohême, avec en prime la finesse et la tranparence incomparable de la Philharmonie tchèque; a contrario, Fleming, que par ailleurs j'aime beaucoup, est trop lente dans ce pur moment de grâce nocturne.

There's a complete recording of Rusalka with the same conductor(Neumann) and soloist(Benackova) on the Supraphon Label recorded in 1981. I highly recommend it!

To contestar: She doesn't need to do faces m8!!! This is just the excerption from the whole opera, all she need to do here is SINGING not acting. So I hope you understand it now. BTW excellent performance, her voice is sweet and words are so lyric, I am glad that I can understand at least czech operas.

I totally disagree. She doesn't do faces that others do in order to look(...) moved, but the voice does all I need to know.
