just got one of this, all stock brush and nimh. it's still fun and i do manage to flip it on turns, sometimes it wont flip all the way back and stay on its back like a turtle.
dude u guy dont know sht . you have to run the RPM jato front a-arms with proline shock. THATS THE SETUP use it love it works good THE BEST no fucing around. my car with the proline shocks and rpm front jato arms. it will handle better then any stock truck. i also have the mamba pro speed controler STC front bulkhead its a must rpm front shock tower.............. Heres a tip make the front strong. have a bashing a day...............
Hey Guys!! Im selling my 6th month old traxxas slash!! It has Velineon brushless system! Has some aluminum A-arms and a steering column(red)!!! It comes with two bodys 2 4200 miliamp batteries= super fast. I love this car but i need some money very badly!
Is vxl and xl-5 the same which ones better and faster and is the slash better than the rustler cause i want to buy one and don't know if xl-5 is better than vxl or rustlers better than slash plz help me chose.
Brushed motors suck. As for slash vs rustler, I have both, and lets just say that the rustler is collecting dust. You can lower the COG with one of the many chassis available, and with alittle bit of tuning, you can get rid of most of the turning over problem.
The VXL system is a much faster, and better made system. Put that in a traxxas slash with a 3s lipo and you will be going 60+. Put the VXL in a rustler/bandit with the 3s lipo and you will be going 70+.
The XL5's top speed in the slash is 30, and in the bandit/rustler is 35.
no traxxas says the wrong tops like the jato says 65mph but stock speed runs have showed 72 and i have a slash i ran it side by side a real car and with stock gearing and a 8 cell nimh it went 38 mph
you can upgrade the motor to a brushed modified motor and/or get higher voltage batteries but in the end you will be better off going brushless, brushless motors more or less are maintenance free and last a long time, sure there is a higher up front cost but it will pay for itself down the road, Traxxas has its own brushless speed control package for under $200 that is a good deal and has been proven to work very well, get your Slash and upgrade as you go especially if this is your 1st RC
The traxxas velineon brushless setup is perfect. To me, one of the best qualities about it, is that it doesn't get too hot.
Also, you can go online and get a Slash VXL for about 250, and you wont have to worry about the maintenance for the motor from the get go.
What I did with my Slash was upgrade from the Titan (which isn't too great in my opinion) to a Trinity Komodo 19 turn modified for about 40 bucks, and it is very torquey and quick
I put ProLine "Switch" tires on beadlock wheels and noticed quite an improvement in handling. The red beadlock rims make it look boss and mean. Try it you'll like it. Enjoyed your video thanks....
put stampede wheels and tires on my slash for street its ok tried it at the track and it sucks i did mod the body so they do not scrub as bad does wheelies on the street :)
Ok guys take it easy on me. I'm a nitro man. I just got a slash today, want to know the fastest top speed brushless motor/ batt combo to buy for my new slash. prices would be good to. Thanks in advance youtubers.
a brushless motor is a less resistant motor, a "Brushed" motor has Drag were a "Brushless" motor has almost zero drag/ resistance.
some good quality brands of Brushless motors< Team Novak, Castle Creations Mamba Max, Traxxas Velineon,
and as for instalation, just read youre owners manual about your stock Motor installation, Brushless motor installation is no different than a stock install,,
Using a 7 cell 4600nimh battery these trucks fly, bone stock(30 mph)!Bought 2 for my sons recently,I think they beat my emaxx 16.8v running two 7 cell 4200 nimh.Plus they are waterproof, another great product Traxxas, thank you!Now I really cant wait for the snow to melt here in Michigan!.
well do you know were the best place is to get some slash aluminum parts?
i cant find any place with flm aluminum parts for the slash.. and were could i get some really good shocks and springs for the slash to make it more durable for jumping. and can i just buy stampede tires and put them on or what do i need to get and where can i get it to make them fit. becaus eio want big tires and good shocks. great appreciation if you can help me out. thanx
Traxxas is great for comp racing. The Revo has won plenty of titles and the Jato is up there too. It comes down to this, some people are die hard Losi fans, others live for Associated, and people like me love Traxxas. Everyone has their own flavor.
To a point yes, but Traxxas vehicles are so different from other companies(thats a good thing, so they are not cookie cutters). I Like my Associated Cars and trucks, but I would love to own a Revo, Slash and just about everything they got! Traxxas is an awesome company. But Associated has them beat on 1/10th scale stadium trucks and buggies.
go to a hobby shop, and look at a traxxas compared to a losi or team associated... there is no comparison... but now ae and losi make more "consumer" products too. so the differences are getting ever more subtle... but no comparison to a factory team associated though.
I'm quite happy with my pair of Slashes. I bought them for the more realistic look and handling. The Losi Desert Truck, IMO, is nothing more than a Losi XXX-T with different tires, wheels and body.
WOW! I'm trading a hobby store guy a slash for my wii. im gonna sell the stock stuff and get a sidewinder 4600 (same as the video) and a 3s lipo (probably). lol. nice video, make more! :P

VXL would be the Venlineon Brushless system
Xl-5 would be the Brushed system 27turn?..
anyways.. (VXL)Brushless is faster, way faster than a (xl-5)brushed motor, id go VXL... actually i have..
rustlers way better than the slash do to its low CG and extended wheel to wheel with,
.... Slash is just all show no go, do to its high CG the stability is horrible, cant make a sharp turn with out ending up on the roof,
both durable as a mofo,

mamba, they get hot cuz you need to change pinion and spur gear, thats all, not that hard but them mamba max blows away vxl
WhatAreWeDoingForFun 2 years ago
thanks a ton!

Mambas get hotter, but they are faster. The VXL has much more torque though. Unless your racing on concrete, just go with the VXL.

Hi everyone,
Traxxas is planning on selling a Nitro Slash if the demand is high enough.
So, if your a nitro fan... e-mail Traxxas and tell them that your wanting one made!
If the Nitro Slash goes on production:
- A new nitro class will be formed!
- 2 best-sellers for 2008 will both be Slash's.
