came out after lucky luciano rail-roaded into jail on phoney prostition racket; the woman who testified was a junkie. and bogart plays crime buster dewey, who let luciano out of jail,anyhow, after ww2.

This is based on true events. It is a good movie. Very rough lives these characters lead. I didn't think Humphrey Bogart was all that good of an actor, but there was something about him. He's totally watchable. Thanks for posting.

i was reading the other day that humphrey bogart said about bette davis "that she's uptight and needs a good screw from someone who knows what there doing!" thats when she was starting out in hollywood! love bette davis!
