  • I remember 87, its when I quit watching nascar. Speed limiters on racecars driven only on racetracks...pffft.

  • name song ? please

  • @123654789vinicius

    "Freebird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd.

  • @fivestep5 Thanks ^^

  • This was one of the most entertaining vids ive ever seen.

  • lol, dont called them "nascars"

  • really cool video man

  • Never ever want to see anyone hurt...however I miss mid to late 80`s to early 90`s NASCAR....so much fun to watch and way more competition.

  • 19 people dont like the new safty features

  • yup i'm flyin through the air this is not good

  • Nascar, Lynyrd Skynyrd. AMERICA

  • cool stuff man, classic nascar.

  • I never knew about the pit road speed limit. I always just assumed that was always there. Sad about the pitroad guy. Awesome Video man!

  • Sensational video. You should be working for the Speed Channel if they haven't called you yet. =)

  • Great video!

  • Great video. Learned a lot!

  • But still they turns left.

  • guitar hero II final song

  • how many of these were fatal?

    0:32 looks nearly unsurvivable

  • That was a great video. Thanks for posting. Safety is why I love this sport.

  • Cool video. Thanks for posting.

  • wow, good video!

  • WOW great video, i learned so much about nascar from this :)

  • hey who was the guy in the first one flipping? and what year was the one at 0:18 ?

  • That 2001 Daytona 500 is probably the only time i wished Dale Earnhardt got involved in The Big One when Tony was flipping!

  • Great video

  • SAFER Barriers were designed where I live... Omaha, Nebraska by the Univ. of The Nebr. Med . Center. ( UNMC )

  • GORDON IS KING

  • Jeff Gordon just had a big crash.

  • When it comes to "NASCAR 101", this is probably the most informative, well-chronicled video out there, and good narration too. Oustanding job!!

  • I like WRC and i think this was very interesting.

  • anyone notice the rusty wallace crash @5.08 is virtually identical to the ones in the first cars movie !.lol

  • I'm sure someone has mentioned this before, but just a suggestion, add an update showing Dale Jarrett's wreck from 2003 or 2004 (can't remember which year), where he had crashed and was almost hit by other cars racing back to the caution flag. Led to NASCAR freezing the field instantly once a Yellow came out instead of racing back to the stripe.

  • @G4RAWZONE good call, i remember watching that race, he was just sitting in the middle of the track with cars racing back to the line at full speed, i thought someone was going to hit him. it was after that they started freezing the field, much safer now.

  • Best NASCAR Video On YouTube Thanks for posting.

  • this video almost made me cry. I love this sport!

  • While I agree that these horrible disasters did shape nascar's modern safety regulation it is still over a dosen automobile's pumped with flammables mixed with burning rubber and even more friction , you could say its a passport to the afterlife

  • @2ndCrysis Counter-argument : I will feel safer on a nascar track, on a sunday, than on the road with the new Nissan Leaf. It's not that the Leaf is unsafe, but compare to a nascar... Plus people go in all direction so an head-on collision is possible is on the road, and the medical is not that quick on the public road...

  • @therrydicule Good point , but on the public roads there are speed limits that we (most of us) follow the speeds here reach up to 220 mph which play not small part during a good skull fracture, given that you wont have drunk drivers embarrass themselves on a televised sport that half the world watches but knowledge of the racing legends who were masters of the wheel who lost their lives plus the sheer numbers watching make for a real tense and jittery driver .

  • Nice on the history of NASCAR

  • A++ video!! Not just another senseless crash vid, but one with purpose and one done with meaning, great job!!

  • One of the best nascar video's i've seen on youtube. verry nice

  • This is one of the most spectacular motorsports in history and now today !

  • a very well put together documentary. Ty for the time and effort it took.

  • Well narrated and informative......sort of a calming voice as well....LOL

Seriously though, lots of that footage I have seen first hand or on TV. Glad to see the safety improvements for the drivers....however I still miss the NASCAR racing of the 80`s and early 90`s....in the draft someone could still "pull out and pass" not like today where either the entire field runs "nose to tail" or like 2011 Daytona where it is like a car towing another one...

  • You have potentially made one ofr the best Nascar videos on Youtube.

Be proud, man, you did good.

  • This was a great video and very informative to newer fans. If you ever do a remake the one thing you should add was Dale Jarrett's crash at New Hampshire in 2003 which led to NASCAR freezing the field and not letting them race back to the line.

  • You helped me with my research report. Thanks!!!

  • Thanks for all the research and editing on this video. Very interesting and informative for a guy like me who doesn't know too much about NASCAR

  • why not just have figure 8 nascar tracks?

  • lol, nascar.

  • @phur3i0n One reason I know that youre either a child, or a dumb ass adult:

    1. Your spelling.

  • @justcallmejoeable nice one grammer police........ go kill your self and get a job.

  • @phur3i0n I apologize if you are a child and dont know how to spell yet, but if you are an adult I am sticking to my story. plus your list made no sense.

  • biggest change in NASCAR would be right turn

  • @MrMegamater just quit trolling, fucking tired of seeing shit like this, just shut the fuck up watch the video decide if you like it or not and click like or dislike and the only time you can use the comments on an topic your not familiar with is to give feedback to the uploader

  • @MrMegamater considering there are road courses i wouldnt call a right turn a change

  • wonderful vid

couldve included adam petty, kenny irwin jr. and how the indycars used the hans device ut it was amazing

  • @supel454 Jarrett did not die at daytnoa. It was Earnhart Sr.

  • great vid mate

  • Fantastic video.

  • nice video but please give Indycar and Cart/Champcar its credit for developing things like the hans, safe wall pit speedlimits ect..

  • RIP Dale Jarrett 1126/56 - 2/18/01

  • Comment removed

  • @supel454 Dale Jarrett died?

  • well the wing was the issue in till latter date they ended up fixing it so they cahnged the diemanics of the angle of the wing and add the extra slide on the back window . :) but it was a good vidow :)

  • Great video!!

  • Excellent job in this video. Great Footage and awesome narrative.

  • well the CoT isnt the safest cuz well it got changed again the rear wing is gone. when the car got turned around at speed it would catch enough to flip the car before the drag flaps could save it.

  • Dig the vid but good God does anyone ever need to hear that awful redneck anthem Freebird ever again?? Rumour has it Osama Bin Ladin was so sick of that song in his cave that he moved to Pakistan to get away from it. Every jacked-up Camaro in every trailer park in the US has it's 8-track stuck on that track.

  • @jfsssp You're a putz.

  • great video man thanks!!!!

  • at 319 the blimp looks like ufo, just sayin..

  • I liked nascar as a kid because.....kids like racecars. I was 11 when I watched my first race, which happened to be the first race of the year in 2001....

    Been watching since. #24

    Good vid man.

  • i will miss dale for along time to come. I quit watching nascar after he died...

  • your still missing the use of the 5 or 6 point safty harness and the full canment seat that is also mandory in nascar and many other forms of racing but good video!

  • Very interesting.

  • Awesome video I remember watching Nascar when it first was televised in 1978 I saw that very first race I told all my buddies "Ya gotta watch this " Whats so great about cars going around in a circle they said . Today they all watch they all sport the gear . I stopped really watching it after "Ironheart which, by the way", was his first nick name before "The Intimidator" passed away

  • 0:03 WINSTON CUP!!!! thats like really close to where i live! i feel famous

  • How can something so ugly be so beuatiful?

  • Too bad my daily driver is like every other daily driver... just another a death box on wheels. Just imagine if all that safety stuff that's used in NASCAR was in our common everyday cars... We'd have a shit load less automotive related fatalities, no doubt. But alas, the expense prohibits it. Such is life... money is still more important than human life. God, I hate how stupid our species can be. Great video by the way. Interesting, entertaining, and informative! You don't see that everyday.

  • Great video :) I've see a lot what I've don't see ^^

  • Hey wait a minute, this is educational.....

  • Nobody has three balls but some people have two very good ones. - Cristiano Da Matta

  • good vid thanks

  • good video but the music sucks!!!!!

  • @bakchich Why, because it doesn't talk about money or killing people.

  • @BackRowRacing98 nah because free bird has the most annoying guitar solo ever. It never ends lol

  • @luigi32791 Since when is an awesome and long solo bad?

  • NOTICE as RVZ says fly high free bird as Dale Sr. wreck shown.... RIP Rvz and Dale!

  • This was very interesting.

  • quem ja viu uma corrida da nascar de 600 voltas da joinha eu ja vi e vc?:D

  • Kyle Busch started every crash on here hahahaha hate him :)

  • I dont get why people complain about how NASCAR officials have made the races so that it doesn't follow the saying, "Have at it boys." Like who the fuck cares, i'd rather know all the drivers will be alive than thinking wat happens if theres a crash and someone gets badly injured. Look at what kyle busch did to hornaday at texas. Look at johnsons crash at CHarlotte. IF they never moved away from that saying then both those drivers would have severe injuries, plus many more.

  • @SoFxDeadx You tellem Justin

  • I'm an huge F1 fan and I'm so ashamed to see all these hater comments from other f1 fans... I never really cared about Nascar but that's not a reason to hate it. Good vid, I enjoyed it.

  • 1989 must have been a fun year for Rusty

  • These changes are why i dont like F1. Nascar is safer

  • @kingmatt334 There is no way nascar is safer....

  • @wtfpenguinwtf it is because the F1 drivers dont have anything to protect their heads from a crash. they could flip, land on their heads, and die

  • @kingmatt334 Not really that because the cars are build up the way that when it flips drivers head won't hit the ground. But of course if some parts of other cars hit you in the head then you're fucked up. But in Nascar your driving an oval without any run off areas with stock cars on over 200km/h speeds side by side with the others. If you crash, your car will shatter in pieces. But anyways, both sports have their own dangers.

  • @wtfpenguinwtf Yea but over the years Nascar has highly improved the drivers safety. I dont believe F1 has done much and i won believe it until they put something on to protect the head of the driver

  • video is awesome, but reactions from nigeleckzdee and SuperTannerP should be removed immediately. There is no place for people like that on youtube.

  • great video, but i think it should be noted that in the case of rusty wallaces 2 flips in 1993, the one at daytona was not caused by the air, it simply dug in because of the abrupt turn to the right and rolled over.

  • yea i agree with everyone else this is an awesome show..please make more!!

  • change the shit song.

and all nascar drivers need to die immediately when they get into car accidents. It's such a shit "sport"

  • @nigeleckzdee if its such a shit sport lets see you have the balls to drive a car entering turns at over 180 mph and inches away from other drivers for 3 hours or more and see if you still think its a shit sport.....you dumbass know what your talking about before you talk shit on something

  • @rarbogast14 Try watching F1 you redneck piece of shit.

  • @nigeleckzdee In F1 drivers have a vast amount of tech at their fingertips, the cars do most of the driving not the driver, in NASCAR the driver controls the car, and not everyone who is a fan of nascar is a redneck, that just shows how little your imagination is

  • good job

  • u did a good job :) nice show

  • A very good mini show. Well done.

  • Very interesting clip. Should be shown history's in school:)

  • I'm not even a nascar far per say, only recently cared about it because of Marcos Ambrose (Im aussie) but the vid kept me entertained the whole way through, great job mate!

  • @Lemon0Tart /watch?v=nvFMYbIdqkM. This is a great introduction to the sport.

  • "He's in the wall", THE phrase of Nascar !!

What is the highest speed now reached ?

  • @turboslag i believe its a little over 180 mph give or take with drafting.

  • @PALET717 nice try but 180 is about what nationwide does

  • @turboslag at pocono they hit about 205 going into turn one

  • 5:17

I would have shat such huge bricks if I were that guy behind the fence O.O

  • im sorry but 1:04 has to be the best 1

  • @ramcharger95 No.

  • Minor nitpick: The crash that bought the window net was the road race death at Riverside raceway of Joe Weatherly in 1964. Joe did not have a window net when his brakes failed & was partially ejected out the side window. He Also had no Shoulder belts. It was made mandatory in 1971.

    Please lose the "free bird."

  • i was watching the michael mcdowell crash before i clicked on this video, ironic isn't it?

  • um gordon knows right turns thats for sure he drove montoyas formula one car haha

  • Wow, Amazing! Can't believe all of this stuff... Most of this stuff is before i was born and before I got into it. RIP for all the ones that got killed in these accidents <3 Gone but never forgotten

  • @Arnechk haha. i don’t think the drivers know how to make right turns. :D :P

  • @Arnechk actually NASCAR does race on some road courses, like Watkins Glen

  • @Arnechk "Infineon/Sears Point & Watkins Glen"

  • @Arnechk It's called a Road Course, it happens twice a year.

  • @CravedTutorials I figured yeah, blew my mind, very fascinated. :D I proceeded to get NR2003 :D

  • @Arnechk Seems as if the world has found a new level of dumbass.

  • @Arnechk they already make right turns dumbass its called a road course

  • @Arnechk The year 1957 wants to have a word about those "changes."

  • @Arnechk road course, dumbass!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @Arnechk they have 2 road races every year

  • @Arnechk Ignorant. Sprint Cup goes to two road courses, and Nationwide does three. Fail...

  • @Arnechk As pointed out several times already, you are a dipshit.

  • @dbkparm Oh, and you are american.

  • @Arnechk Why, yes. But you are still a dipshit. That is all.

  • Great video! Very informative, not just showing crashes for the sake of showing them. Very good, so thanks a lot for this one.

  • you have to be proud. i have more respect for safety plus i saw some awsome wrecks :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

  • very informative video. thanks uploader.

  • super informative. pretty rad video.

  • Ok, I'm not a NASCAR fan. However, I thought this video was extremely well done and very informative. I enjoyed it!

    Thanks for your work!

  • Everybody seems to forget that the flaps came from Roush. They had them on their cars well before they were mandated.

  • I never understand why they don't use HANS ...

  • @devxc it cost money also soft was did Not happen right after earnhardts death try 5 years later.

  • Great vid and awesome music.

  • Well produced video...an excellent presentation of some spectacular mayhem.

It kinda surprised me how many of these crashes I had seen either live or on TV.

I am not really a NASCAR fan but I guess I got lucky and was watching when the best crashes occurred.

  • great video, but just one thing - the first rust wallace crash you show at daytona would not have been prevented by roof flaps. he flipped because he was hit hard in the side. it wasn't a blowover like at talladega. you could have explained how the roof flaps work as well. but this is just minor. great video, some nice old footage in there.

  • Very, very good video. great info and an even better song. No one will EVER top

    Lynyrd Skynyrd. NO ONE

  • BUT WILL THEY BLEND

  • @miniboy53 shut up not funny any more after about 2 million people say it a day

  • @MrMasonx742 its funny the new question is will all the haters blend

  • @miniboy53 its not funny anymore, u no wat will blend the blood on your face because of my fist, that will blend

  • @MrMasonx742 hahahaha u fail so hard just get a life

  • @miniboy53 haha coming from the nerd that asked if it will blend, u need a life

  • @MrMasonx742 oh fuck off

  • @miniboy53 so i am right u r a nerd

  • @MrMasonx742 wtf make sence plss u talk shit just fuck off

  • @miniboy53 ur just made because u have no life

  • @MrMasonx742 why cant u fuck off

  • Why do I allways see this "cars" turning only one way? What... do the steerings don't turn the other way? Are they block or something? funny looking "cars", boring though...

  • I almost had a career in Nascar with the first digital telemetry systems developed in 1983,my first team affiliation was with Tim Richmond, that didn't work out so well. :(

  • american standard
