  • Daryl puts soul & feeling into this classic...

  • Linda Creed wrote most of her hit songs in her early to mid 20's.

    She was an Angel !

  • this is one of my fave Stylistics songs (thanks mom and dad!) and Hall & Oates gave justice to this. simply great.

  • This sone was written by the Genius Song Writer Linda Creed....who passed away in 1986...at the young age of 36 yrs old.

Do a search on her....She was as beautiful as the Music she wrote !

  • @twebb63 ...interesting...i'll be sure to check her out...thanx.

  • @Dromudromunisiga Linda also wrote hits for Whitney, Phyllis Hyman, George Benson, the Spinners, Johnny Mathis, etc.

She was diagnosed with Breast Cancer at age 26 !

  • @twebb63 A talent and life taken away from us by a menace called breast cancer.

  • Great.

    Dedicated to T. Bone Burntte

  • the Best ever.. Hall and Oates.. Love it!!

  • Back way back baby! Luv luv it!

  • they are my everything

  • Since these guys came out with the very soulful sound of Sara Smile back in the 70's, I have been a great fan of their music through the years....Good music should evoke emotions, I felt this, the same way I feel whenever I listen to The Stylistics sing it......

  • this song reminds me of you DS.

  • Sang it Daryl!!!! I love Hall and Oates...they have always been so beautifully sincere in everything they do...then and now, God bless them!

  • I LOVE THE STYLISTICS and have never heard someone else sing this song and it be soooooo beautiful. I loved Hall & Oates as a child also. Daryl did such an amazing job,.....I turn this video of him singing anytime I am cleaning. It's been 6 months since I discovered this video on you tube, probably heard it hundreds, maybe thousands of times and STILL never grow tired of it!!!!

  • Realmusic

  • Coming from Detroit I love Motown but nothing beats Philly....TSOP

  • @showsat01 Hey I was raised and still in Motown. I washed David Ruffins Limo and I met some of them. I love the motown sound, but Philly holds it's own. I don't know if it beats Motown, but it sure as hell came in close. Either way, we have 2 things in common. We're from Motown and we love the Philly sound. Hall and Oates, The Ebonys, Harold Melvin, it just goes on and on and on. What a great musical city.

  • This is a Thom Bell/ Linda Creed song. Philly soul at it's best. Hall & Oates came up right there with it and it shows.

  • Wow, that was an excellent interpretation. And a really soulful rendition. IMHO, Daryl knows really knows his voice, and makes this great by not over-reaching, or trying wasteful coloration. Great stuff!!

  • "OHHHH WOWWW" just love it : )

  • nice outro

  • Beautiful ! You can really feel the emotion...the pain and longing of his lost love ( the song's lyrics). I am a long time fan of the duo. Classic Blue-Eyed Soul never fades away.

  • THIS MANS VOICE IS BRILLIANT HE IS JUST AMAZING

  • @suicideblonde2 I agree with you 100 %

  • this is from the Bravo show...I never seen such a great performance by the duo, ever like that one..

  • Someone sang this to me once...and I will never forget it.....

  • One of Daryl's best all around performances. That man sure knows how to rock the bluesy love songs.

  • Wow! He belts it out at 3:20. Love this song.

  • hall and oates are so classy and classic, and they are still handsome. I grew up on their music. And Darryl I don't consider you blue eyed soul, just soul. And that's coming from and AA Women from the the teenager in the 80's

  • sexy, oh so fine

  • All right, what is the excuse for passing Mr. Hall and Mr. Oates for the Kennedy Center Honors this year? Oprah Winfrey is being honored.

  • @Juliaflo

Obvious--they are white and have actually accomplished something

  • One of the best things about getting older is that the songwriters and singers from the past helped to create so many beautiful memories of days gone by. These guys along with so many more did a wonderful job of making and helping to define some great days. It just uplifts the inner soul and I'm just as young as I was then. My heart will always be 20 something! Peace and love to all!!!

  • Jewish Mothballs!!! :)

  • thats the daryl hall i know and love...thanks.........

  • wow love this cover! you can't go wrong with hall & oats neither thx xyzmikey2 for this share!

  • T Bone Wolk was Hall and Oates' long time side man who played bass and guitar and other instruments who recently died of a heart attack. He had a lot to do with their sound for the last 30 years and he will be greatly missed.998

  • T-BoneWolk, What a musician!! I had the honor of witnessing his genius at Mohegan Sun. Hall and Oates will miss him greatly as will his fans!!

  • What happened to T-Bone? Please don't tell me he passed away??!!!!

  • RIP T-Bone ...you're a huge reason why I love Hall and Oates since my childhood....you were always just as important and I know Hall and Oates would agree

Thank You for sharing your gifts with the world

  • @loozer4life69 Amen to that.... I went to my first hall and oates concert when i was 11 with my mom(the huge fan).... before any music really meant anything to me and i couldn't tell you any of rare song hall and oates played but moral of the story I remember t-bone bending over to hand me a pick. It may not have meant much to you T-Bone but here I am 13yrs later and that's the only memory I have.

    THANKS T-BONE RIP

    Always in our memories

  • @loozer4life69 who is t bone?

  • @loozer4life69 i gonna miss T-Bone , you could see his passion,

  • @loozer4life69 ...Amen.

  • They have always been awesome! In early '85, my local radio station gave away 7 pairs of tickets to their concert and I won 6 pairs...you had to identify little snippets of their songs in a montage. We had to take 2 cars...lol 2nd best show I have ever seen ( Eagles has been the best) If you ever get the chance...GO!!!

  • They are the best Blue Eyed Soul Band around

  • Sound is WAYYYYYY too compressed...

  • what are you talking about lo,thats how the song goes,

go check out Ross's and Marvins version..

  • You have no idea what I'm talking about, do you? Do you know what COMPRESSED mean?

  • @unclesalty2008

His name is Tom "T-Bone" Wolk.

  • Tom Wolk aka T Bone Wolk

  • Daryll is the sexiest , finest peice of white meat iv ever had the oportunity to know of.i love the way he sing soul music

  • I was lucky enough to listen to Daryl Hall sing throughout the years, and attend a concert in the 80's....no one does blue eyed soul better. I fell in love with his version of his song Everytime you go Away way before Paul Young put out his version. Never liked Paul Youngs version, just not as good as the original.

  • The epitomy of pure soul!!!!

  • Darryl Hall really is one of the few white men with soul.

  • DARYL HALL is AMAZING! His voice only grows more passionate, inspirational, and BETTER!

  • An original will always be a classic but I like this version from them! Not to many ppl can do remakes and do em live! and this does it

  • thats an oldy and the best song ever. that takes me back when i was in high school when i got kissed the first time a long time along,

  • i would love to have lived in 60's or 70's..lucky girl...

  • they do this song justice, much props

  • Oops! Meant -- you go boys!! Gives me goose bumps! I know, sorta sad...but I'll take it anyway I can! LOL!

  • Awesome!! Go go boys!!

  • Original by Stylistics? Erm anyone heard of Marvin Gaye and Diana Ross??

  • Stylistics version 1971

    Gaye/Ross version 1974

  • I stand embarassingly corrected!! lol

  • umm...yeah...they covered the song (they also covered the stylistics' "stop, look, listen")

  • Reminds me of someone.. beautiful.

  • Who the HELL cares if Daryl missed words in a lyric! He is a SOUL singer!

  • beautiful song

  • asher levy park,, brooklyn

  • I love Daryl Hall. I've never seen this video. He tears it up. He is a true "blue eyed soul" singer. Love anything he does

  • a good part of my growing up ....

  • Terrific, I saw them live in the 70's and from then on I was a fan. Thankyou

  • I can't believe I found this! I always thought this song would sound great if they did it.

    Thanks!

  • Wow! Better then ever!

  • these guys are awesome , soooo, much soul. The best

  • any

  • I usually like the original version of ant song i haer, but, ever song Hall and Oats redone seems to be better than the original. This is an awesome duo

  • A great cover version by Hall & Oates!

  • Linda esa cancion

  • What an awesome testament and compliment Hall and Oates paid to the original group -- the one and only The Stylistics. And I have to admit H & O did a phenomenal job. I have never been a huge fan of theirs but now I am.

  • They also did the memory of Linda Creed so proud. Lest you forget, Miss Creed wrote the song (or co-wrote it).

  • Yes! This is such a heart breaking song ... wonderful yet the saddest song I've ever heard! I cried like a baby when I first heard the Stylistics do it. (I'm a man who trys not to cry ... lol)

Hall and Oates did good by me!

  • great song !

  • for

    joanne

  • Today I saw somebody

    Who looked just like you

    He rode like you do

    I thought it was you

  • lol

  • Hall & Oates are simply amazing. "Our Kind of Soul" is really a great CD. They did a lot the classic soul songs justice. I also love how they did over "Love TKO." They also put a great spin on "Used to Be My Girl" by the O'Jays.

  • I just discovered "Our Kind of Soul" about two weeks ago, and couldn't believe how great it was...even loved reading the liner notes, which show how totally fused into the music they are. Ooh, Child, was one terrific rendition...

  • I am glad you had the pleasure of experiencing "Our Kind of Soul." I enjoyed the liner notes as well. H&O are true musicians and artists. I am sensitive (lol) when artists attempt to cover such classic songs; the Stylistics are amazing but I always giev a pass to H&O because I know they will do it justice and are one of the few that can.

  • very nicely sang... beautiful.

    thankyou.

  • Daryl Hall changes one note in this song and it resonates! A sexy, sexy 60! Daryl Hall is the epitome of soul!

  • Wow! this cover is awesome!

  • Like most of you, remakes tend to go ignored but not this one. Daryl and John really nailed this one and gave the song so much respect and were kind enough to share it with us. Please hurry back to Florida!!!!!!!

  • very nice
