i have just liscensed the most expensive mmorpg game engine ever but who cares. Im making a new mmorpg called Heroes of Athala Online for PS3, PC & Xbox 360. Its a very different mmorpg not just like wow. Its a hack and slah fantasy rpg. A massive world with thousands of quests and 10 different races and classes.

After almost a year, the overall response on Aion forums+fansites has been negative. There have been massive "server merges" due to a severe lack of players, resulting in only 5-6 US servers remaining (one can only imagine what happened to all the people who had similar names).

PvE-wise the game has nothing amazing to offer. In desperation, Aion is resorting to shit like Veteran Rewards rewarding you stuff for every extra month you add to your game time.

Just enjoy Aion while it lasts.

WoW = Easy.

AION = Hard.

I can say this as my brother, who played WoW for nearly 2 years and reached 80: good raiding gear etc, and is 13: Had recently quit AION because it was "too hard" due to his constant deaths and the inability to pay the soul costs.

Now, I've played WoW for 3/4 years: And I managed to get through the game with little hardship. While AION is admitably, very stressing if you're a noob, it's very fun for a grind! Grinding is not boring on this game, I can last 5 hour easily.

I wish that all wow players would at least understand this unfortunately they start playing level up to lv20 and there's pretty much nothing new happening from lv15 to lv25 so they quite at lv20 and think that Aion is a failure than in fact its better than wow. Unfortunately this game will probably never catch up with wow just cuz it's harder.

Indeed. The only way AION can become near Wows player base is if they get off their assess and listen to the players. They're ignoring everyone atm, perhaps after some reduced mob damage, food introduction, ~30 less exp needed and more exp from quests, added end-game content, new dungeons, dumb down elites, make less tank and spank, fix lag, stop the spammers and bot, get more workers, tell us more... Blah blah, so much until it can be a success. I'll keep my hopes up for VISION though. :)

I really wouldn't like those changes (at least most of them) Aion is hard and thats perfect (for me at least) I like challenges unfortunately most people dont. Every time someone says Aion is a grindfest game I laugh. Probably because I never played low level mmos like wow before, also these changes would make kids play Aion (sry about your brother) and I hate games that has over 50% players that are kids.

This is stupid. What's so great about AION? It's like a copy clone of WoW and a higher resolution version of a billion other korean mmorpgs.

Mission 1: kill x monsters

mission 2: collect x things

And I especially hate games where all the monsters are just wandering around in a little location and don't even aggro you until they're level 20+. And even then...

you have to get close to them before they do and they stop chasing you...

lol they did give you something new aion its similar to but so are all mmos they half to have som similaritys or els they count be an mmo. if you like running dungons or a bigger map in general then go for wow if you prefer pvp or grafics go aion

A lot of mmorpgs are very similar to some mmorpg or another...for example, all those korean mmo's are almost always the same.

However there are some mmo's that are VERY different from all others...here are a few examples:

Ultima Online / Darkfall / Asheron's Call 1

-player controlled, true open pvp (at least early uo)

World of Warcraft / Everquest 2 / Aion

-mindless, forgiving, carebear loving

Everquest 1 / Eve Online

-harsh, massive death penalties

Dofus, Maple Story, etc

-unique gameplay

Alittle while ago i tried Aion on a chinese server i believe it was, i quickly uninstalled because i was unable to pivit while spellcasting, and that sucks so bad when you roll mage. Im not sure if this was just a error with my computer or something though, anybody know?

the beta version the US is currently playing isn't the same version of the game they are playing Korea/china. when the game goes live I'm sure certain things. will come into effect. it believe its patch 1.5 is the version that will be implemented on the game when it goes live.

i play the Us beta test in max setting and i dont have spell effect like the one in korea version when mage/sorcerer cast some spell they have glow effect that spinning around them

I'm not totally sure on what that is cause i never played the KR version and i dont play a mage maybe it is something that has not been added cause right now its really basic they explained the current cbt tests are just the basic game and nothing really cool has been added yet so maybe in some of the upcoming beta tests they will add the animations the KR version has.

This is the worst Aion review I have found, it's not that I have anything against the author; I'm actually looking forward to his next, more in-depth, review. Maybe you should read what I wrote before you start wondering why I haven't made a review: "I have no experience in creating video reviews, and would not want to waste Youtube users' time."
