I live in the Ozarks in midwest America, where the backroads are cruiser territory. I've owned and ridden both an 80s 750 cruiser and an 06 Fazer in the past year. I definitely seemed to get more respect on the cruiser from other cruisers even despite its age, but then the street bikes paid me no attention. It's the exact opposite now. To me it doesn't matter what you're on, but my Fazer probably doesn't catch a Harley rider's eye as fast as raised bars and a round headlight.

I rant to myself while I am riding. Now that I have a Drift I can record my rants like you. I have gotten to the point where it doesn't bother me much anymore since I know it is their problem if they don't return the wave. I thought I was the only one that waved at scooters. It almost always catches them by surprise since the do a double take.
It seems that there is a medical condition that effects many (not all) bikers on a cruiser which prevents them from waving at other bikers. Luckily there are a number of talented surgeons all over the globe who can fix this problem, but not everybody can afford a proctologist so they are destined to view the world through brown tinted glasses. You are no better than me on my jap bike so pull your head out and see the sunshine.
One of the first things I noticed when I started riding my bike was that the guys on the cruisers don't like to wave at me on my sport bike! I never had a problem with Harley's or any other cruiser bike, but now I am starting to hate them!
Totally agree. Same thing happens to me all the time. I even went to pick up a TV once I'd bought off Craigslist. TV was in a garage, along with the guys nice Harley. I said "nice bike, I have a Ninja" the arrogant prick said "sorry to hear that"
I Agree with you bro. Us bikers take a risk everytime we get on our bikes. Harley,sports, cruisers, and even mopeds/scooters! I wave at everybike i pass. Too me its a sign of respect and drive safe. Cause we all wanna make it from point A to B, B to A. And return to our familys safely. Ride safe guys/gals.
Personally, I wave to everyone and when I can't physically wave I give a head nod. I have found that like you, many cruiser riders do not wave or acknowledge me on my crotch rocket. What I have also found is that there is a difference in the volume of waves I receive from cruisers in relation to the gear I am wearing at the time. When I'm wearing my jeans and shoes I get less waves than if I wore my riding pants and boots. I don't wave at scooters, it seems most don't know about the wave anyway.
I waved a scooter a few days ago because it was cold and it was my way of saying I respect that your riding in cold weather too plus the look on his face was "you made my day" and nodded back

Hey everyone, end of January and i am just watching vids because cannot ride in ny this time of year. As far as the wave goes, I am new to riding and did not know about it until i seen several bikers waving so i now wave to all bikes. I also dont understand the prejudice about scooters, I have one that I had to register, insure, and yes, even get a motorcycle license, top speed so far is 85mph, liquid cooled and very similar to scooter shown in vid and I love it, anyways, be safe all!!!
I wave to motorcycle cops in my city. They wave back ! Not a big deal. You make some good points in this video about NOT waving if your turning or stopping... Good topic.
i ride a harley and some of the older harley guys wont wave to crotch rockets.. i dont give a shit.. if i see 2 wheels i will wave.. usually i wait for the other guy.. and if the other guy is like me and waits then no one gets a wave and we keep cruisin..
I live in the UK and I normally give people the nod, where I live it's not very bike populated so I rarely get a nod back, but just down the road in another town that is more biker populated everyone nods or waves or just says Hi at the lights etc. It's such a great atmosphere to be apart of when they treat each other with the same respect! :)
Waving keeps me awake tbh, keeps me from focusing on one object, instead I look for other bikes going past me. Also people around me ofc but it just gives me something else to do. I wave at everyone. and hell sometimes people don't wave back because they are either /clutching and saw your wave to late, or just douches. I like to assume they are clutching tho.
I have all kinds of bikes and even a scooter. I find that when I am on a sport bike people on sport bikes are more likely to wave and the same for dual sport, scooter, adventure, and cruiser. I have lots of friends who ride Harley and they generally wave at most people who wave to them. However I have also encounter lots of Harley riders who will not wave not matter what I am riding. I could care less one way or the other. If you define your manhood by what you are riding, you aren't

I absolutely agree with everything in this video, sportbike riders wave "almost" all the time, cruisers never wave, its a real shame that the bikers of the world cant even say hello to each other anymore, alot of young squids on superbikes out there putting a bad taste in the biker community. I responsibly ride a CBR 1000 RR and IM 30yrs old and i wave to every biker and scoot i see , wave back , we are all putting ourselves out there against the BRAIN DEAD CAGERS of the world
I once pulled out in front of a cop on a bike with my bike. Needless to say he pulled me over. I told him that I was just coming back from the county attorneys office. I told him that I was pissed off at my next door neighbors for all the shit that they were doing an had gone to the attorneys office to see if he could help do something about the assholes. The cop told me to go somewhere and park the bike for a while and unwind so I went to the closest pool hall and had a brew.
i love this video it's funny and true! i have a 149cc scooter and sometimes will get waves too but i think it's because they're making fun of me but i dont care i like the wave :) upgrading to a ninja 250 so hopefully i'll get some more waves :P
I would venture that the cruisers didnt even see you wave because it was very clear in the video you just raised two fingers yet never let go of the handlebar. I wouldnt wave to you either if you cant give enough of a fuck to show effort.

I was once riding behind a woman on a cruiser... EVERYONE waved at her! I had a sport bike at the time, ONLY other sport bikes would wave at me. Hell, I would have waved at her too.
you should always wave. I ride a cruiser and all the sport guys wave but a lot of the cruiser guys dont. I think its weekend warriors that dont know the risk of every day riders. If you spend 1 to 2 hrs a day tring not to get killed, you understand the respect.
I wave at all bikes except scooter. (sorry but you just dont get the same experience as a bike..) I even nod to moto cops. hahahaha but its true that when i wave, I sometimes don't get a return. But when I dont wave, they wave. I think they are all plotting against me.

I ride a Harley and I wave at everyone even the motorcycle cops. They are surprised when I wave at them. They're like "No way, that greasy biker did not wave at me"! They always wave back though. The only ones that don't wave back are the "real" bikers. You know the kind, have a patch and a dog leash hanging off the clutch lever. I don't care if those fake tough guys don't wave, I'm not a homeless drug addict so it's ok.

Actually from where i am from it is Harleys vs sport bikes. Guys on other cruisers usualy wave back no problem, but Harleys its like some of them thing because they were able to buy bike from Milwaukie it makes them better or somerhing. And the other thing. Yeah pretty much the same. If I wave it means some thing like "Hey buddy." Pretty not saying anything alse then common hail to felow two weeled travelel. Hell, I hail even nice cars. Like retros, classics and generally rides for fun.

HAHAHAHAHA!!! I feel ya. My buddy rides a Honda Enduro with us cruisers. He gets sportbike love and we get cruiser love. Sometimes the cruisers will give him wave love by association and vise versa. So now instead of being shunned by you sport bikes I give the head nod and cruisers get the wave.
I don't wave if its on my way to work, unless I see someone new. I wave on long rides/trips only if I see a helmet. I don't care as long as they are on two wheels. Scooters can go die. Squids can go die. That's my $.02.

Seems ilke you took it too seriously, and wish you could control others actions. I personally dont wave to anybody while going for a cruise, unless ive been driving with them for a while on a highway or whatnot and they decide to pull off. I ride a 50cc Yamaha Why scooter, no biker waves at me, lol, that's like a professional soccer player waving like a teen girl to an amateur soccer player, it doesn't happen... but I'd still like to be equal, and wave at the bikers, but even 50cc scooters don't have that thing among us

Around here, everyone on two wheels waves no matter what you are on! No such thing as a rivalry between any kind of motorcycle. (except for harley riders, most of the harley guys won't wave at anything but a cruiser...not sure why.) It's a battlefield out there, we need to band together!

Im new to riding so only time I wave is if they wave first. But im starting to wave and I wave to everyone even crusers. Out were I live, 98% of the bikers no matter what they ride will wave back. A biker is a biker. Wether they ride a cruiser or a crotch rocket. We all deal with the same idiotic drivers haha

i get about i would say 70% return waves from cruisers when i am on my zx12 or cbr600rr. I dont know why some of them do not wave back ...i thought we were all in the same 2 wheel group....i just leave as its there problem. "F" em...LOL.

I actually got a wave from a cruiser tonight on my way home from work. I was surprised. But yes, most of the time they (cruisers) ignore you. I don't get offended, I just know my bike goes faster than theirs.

I wave at everybody, except people on those friggin electric scooters we're seeing all over the place nowadays. And I guess people on dinky-looking scooters, like a Vespa, as well. I usually just give those guys a quick nod. Around here most riders wave to me, or acknowledge me at least. But's its usually a Harley rider that doesn't. I work at a place where there are many riders, and I'd say about 90% of them have feelings of superiority simply because they ride a HD. South Park had it right.

Hi in the uk we nod at each other, been a uk biker since i was 16 now 24 but if u are out a rush hr ie 7-9am and 4-7pm non of the commuter do it in my region, I do thing the same, its to say hi, be safe and a Mark or respect to each other. In the uk it tends to be scoters and proper bike (over 200cc up) that have a problem, because at 16 u can have 50cc and most of then are immature 16year old (not all) giving us a bad name with car driver, But car drivers some times still don't notice we are

For me in general I'm sorta absent minded so I just assume that the same is true for everyone else and not take it personally. Every conversation that I've had with Harley riders, they are always some of the most laid back dudes and are always willing to talk bikes. Sport bike, dudes tend to be a little more aggressive and focus a little to much on how many cc your bike has, but other than that they are just as willing to have a conversation. I always try to keep that in mind as well.
In Germany we ALL wave, not matter what motorcycle we are on, but it MUST be a bike no scoot or quad/ATV. we even wave to dutch people (they can't drive cars but the motorcyclists are ok) scooters are road hazzards imao because in Germany we are allowed to drive faster (no limit highways ) and scooters just provoke people to do risky overtakes and come on our lane.
@erklaerbaer01 What about the restricted 80kmh 125cc sports bikes 16 year olds have to ride? Are they less of a road hazard than an 80 kmh restricted (for 16 year olds) scooters?
people get in dangerous situations because they want to take over with 100kph, so a delta of 20 kph and that takes forever, so they drive faster then allowed and that also causes accidents
@erklaerbaer01 I think the 125cc 80knh thing is stupid. It is also for motorcycles as well though, not just scooters. So the motorcycles are just as dangerous as the scooters. They are both restricted to 80kmh and both tempt people into dangerous overtaking moves.
I am with you on the wave thing, but I ride a ... umm .. goldwing. I used to wave by lifting my hand slightly off the hand grip, but at some point I realized that when I wave it is probably hidden by my mirror. Now, I lower my hand to my side and have noticed I get many more return waves.
But I have to say, your wave at 3:45 was pretty weak and probably not even seen by the guy on the cruiser.

@DarkFlightVlogs don't give up, some cruisers ride with a real attitude, but some are pretty cool. I took my Wing into a Harley shop just after I bought it, because it needed an inspection sticker. The guy behind the counter said "man, this thing feels like it could do a 150mph." One of the customers at the counter said, "hey man, get a motorcycle that sounds like a motorcycle." jerk!

I always wave and 99 % (even moto cops) wave back but i think that because i ride a Harley road king classic . I agree crusiers tend to be kinda snotty to sport bikes . I have also noticed that there is a huge differance between city riders and highway riders ...
i ride a supermoto bike, i used to ride a gsxr 750 i got waves from sportbikers on the 750 but not cruisers. on the supermoto i get no wave from either i dont get it.
I ride a Harley a vrod really i run in to alot of Harley riders that dont wave to me. I just say screw them also have been flipped off when waved to sports bikes. I really dont care i did ride an R1 till i got creamed by a drunk in a truck and it screwed my back now it hurts me to ride sports bike cause the way i sit on them. Over here in Aus it's rare to see bikers wave, even guys on sports bikes rarely wave. I went on my friends cbr1000 the other day and not a single rider we passed waved (there was a few we passed also) I even tried waving at one and nothing.
You know I was just thinking this the other day. I ALWAYS wave, no matter what you're riding (unless it's a scooter). I used to ride a dual sport and now I switched to a sport bike but I will wave at everyone and anyone. But I have definitely noticed, a lot of people don't wave back. They don't see me? its so weird in the UK its like the wave has been phased out, now people only nod to each other. and even then I have times where its not even jap bikes but a kawi wont eknowledge a suzuki or honda. and its different for "weekend riders" and "everyday riders" the every day riders are always friendly and happy to see another bike on the road. but the weekend worriors just fly by with nothing. and im just like you man, the only time i dont wave, someone waves and i feel like such a tool lol

Here in Italy, on the roads near where i live at least, there's not much cruisers(you see them at metal concerts mostly) but the ones you find doesn't wave.
Sadly, even "riders" with Monster or bikes that could be probably more similar to Harleys than SSB's(not saying naked bikes, the ones like Monster etc) doesn't wave most of the time 'cause they're too though..at least that's what they think

It seems that there is a medical condition that effects many (not all) bikers on a cruiser which prevents them from waving at other bikers. Luckily there are a number of talented surgeons all over the globe who can fix this problem, but not everybody can afford a proctologist so they are destined to view the world through brown tinted glasses. You are no better than me on my jap bike so pull your head out and see the sunshine.

One of the first things I noticed when I started riding my bike was that the guys on the cruisers don't like to wave at me on my sport bike! I never had a problem with Harley's or any other cruiser bike, but now I am starting to hate them!

Totally agree. Same thing happens to me all the time. I even went to pick up a TV once I'd bought off Craigslist. TV was in a garage, along with the guys nice Harley. I said "nice bike, I have a Ninja" the arrogant prick said "sorry to hear that"

I Agree with you bro. Us bikers take a risk everytime we get on our bikes. Harley,sports, cruisers, and even mopeds/scooters! I wave at everybike i pass. Too me its a sign of respect and drive safe. Cause we all wanna make it from point A to B, B to A. And return to our familys safely. Ride safe guys/gals.

Personally, I wave to everyone and when I can't physically wave I give a head nod. I have found that like you, many cruiser riders do not wave or acknowledge me on my crotch rocket. What I have also found is that there is a difference in the volume of waves I receive from cruisers in relation to the gear I am wearing at the time. When I'm wearing my jeans and shoes I get less waves than if I wore my riding pants and boots. I don't wave at scooters, it seems most don't know about the wave anyway.

Hey everyone, end of January and i am just watching vids because cannot ride in ny this time of year. As far as the wave goes, I am new to riding and did not know about it until i seen several bikers waving so i now wave to all bikes. I also dont understand the prejudice about scooters, I have one that I had to register, insure, and yes, even get a motorcycle license, top speed so far is 85mph, liquid cooled and very similar to scooter shown in vid and I love it, anyways, be safe all!!!

I live in the UK and I normally give people the nod, where I live it's not very bike populated so I rarely get a nod back, but just down the road in another town that is more biker populated everyone nods or waves or just says Hi at the lights etc. It's such a great atmosphere to be apart of when they treat each other with the same respect! :)

Waving keeps me awake tbh, keeps me from focusing on one object, instead I look for other bikes going past me. Also people around me ofc but it just gives me something else to do. I wave at everyone. and hell sometimes people don't wave back because they are either /clutching and saw your wave to late, or just douches. I like to assume they are clutching tho.

I have all kinds of bikes and even a scooter. I find that when I am on a sport bike people on sport bikes are more likely to wave and the same for dual sport, scooter, adventure, and cruiser. I have lots of friends who ride Harley and they generally wave at most people who wave to them. However I have also encounter lots of Harley riders who will not wave not matter what I am riding. I could care less one way or the other. If you define your manhood by what you are riding, you aren't

I absolutely agree with everything in this video, sportbike riders wave "almost" all the time, cruisers never wave, its a real shame that the bikers of the world cant even say hello to each other anymore, alot of young squids on superbikes out there putting a bad taste in the biker community. I once pulled out in front of a cop on a bike with my bike. Needless to say he pulled me over. I told him that I was just coming back from the county attorneys office. I told him that I was pissed off at my next door neighbors for all the shit that they were doing an had gone to the attorneys office to see if he could help do something about the assholes. The cop told me to go somewhere and park the bike for a while and unwind so I went to the closest pool hall and had a brew.

I ride a Harley and I wave at everyone even the motorcycle cops. They are surprised when I wave at them. They're like "No way, that greasy biker did not wave at me"! They always wave back though. The only ones that don't wave back are the "real" bikers. You know the kind, have a patch and a dog leash hanging off the clutch lever. I don't care if those fake tough guys don't wave, I'm not a homeless drug addict so it's ok.

Actually from where i am from it is Harleys vs sport bikes. Guys on other cruisers usualy wave back no problem, but Harleys its like some of them thing because they were able to buy bike from Milwaukie it makes them better or somerhing. And the other thing. Yeah pretty much the same. If I wave it means some thing like "Hey buddy." Pretty not saying anything alse then common hail to felow two weeled travelel. Hell, I hail even nice cars. Like retros, classics and generally rides for fun.

Seems ilke you took it too seriously, and wish you could control others actions. I personally dont wave to anybody while going for a cruise, unless ive been driving with them for a while on a highway or whatnot and they decide to pull off. I wave, when I can't I head nod. I used to do the same when I drove a Jeep. I really don't care if someone doesn't wave back. It's not a big deal. I don't understand why some people get their panties all in a bunch over it. Some of the comments I've read on this topic are pretty rediculous. Ive noticed on the road alot of guys do the litlle finger wave from their handle bars, some times i see it and respond and sometimes its so fast that i dont notice. if you want acknowledgement, wave in advance. stick ur hand out and make it visible. i wave to anything on two wheels except a scooter. where i live scooters think theyre riders but they dnt respect actual riders.

I wave at everybody, except people on those friggin electric scooters we're seeing all over the place nowadays. And I guess people on dinky-looking scooters, like a Vespa, as well. I usually just give those guys a quick nod. Around here most riders wave to me, or acknowledge me at least. But's its usually a Harley rider that doesn't. I work at a place where there are many riders, and I'd say about 90% of them have feelings of superiority simply because they ride a HD. South Park had it right.

For me in general I'm sorta absent minded so I just assume that the same is true for everyone else and not take it personally. Every conversation that I've had with Harley riders, they are always some of the most laid back dudes and are always willing to talk bikes. Sport bike, dudes tend to be a little more aggressive and focus a little to much on how many cc your bike has, but other than that they are just as willing to have a conversation. I always try to keep that in mind as well.

In Germany we ALL wave, not matter what motorcycle we are on, but it MUST be a bike no scoot or quad/ATV. we even wave to dutch people (they can't drive cars but the motorcyclists are ok) scooters are road hazzards imao because in Germany we are allowed to drive faster (no limit highways ) and scooters just provoke people to do risky overtakes and come on our lane.

80 KpH is the same on the freeway as 50 in town.
people get in dangerous situations because they want to take over with 100kph, so a delta of 20 kph and that takes forever, so they drive faster then allowed and that also causes accidents

@erklaerbaer01 I think the 125cc 80knh thing is stupid. It is also for motorcycles as well though, not just scooters. So the motorcycles are just as dangerous as the scooters. They are both restricted to 80kmh and both tempt people into dangerous overtaking moves.

I am with you on the wave thing, but I ride a ... umm .. goldwing. I used to wave by lifting my hand slightly off the hand grip, but at some point I realized that when I wave it is probably hidden by my mirror. Now, I lower my hand to my side and have noticed I get many more return waves.
But I have to say, your wave at 3:45 was pretty weak and probably not even seen by the guy on the cruiser.

I also admit the wave at 3:45 was weak in fact is was actually a head nod mostly. However after weeks and years of cruiser rejection I don't have the same enthusiasm I use to.....lol.

@DarkFlightVlogs don't give up, some cruisers ride with a real attitude, but some are pretty cool. I took my Wing into a Harley shop just after I bought it, because it needed an inspection sticker. The guy behind the counter said "man, this thing feels like it could do a 150mph." One of the customers at the counter said, "hey man, get a motorcycle that sounds like a motorcycle." jerk!

I always wave and 99 % (even moto cops) wave back but i think that because i ride a Harley road king classic . I agree crusiers tend to be kinda snotty to sport bikes . I have also noticed that there is a huge differance between city riders and highway riders ...

i ride a supermoto bike, i used to ride a gsxr 750 i got waves from sportbikers on the 750 but not cruisers. on the supermoto i get no wave from either i dont get it.

I ride a Harley a vrod really i run in to alot of Harley riders that dont wave to me. I just say screw them also have been flipped off when waved to sports bikes. I really dont care i did ride an R1 till i got creamed by a drunk in a truck and it screwed my back now it hurts me to ride sports bike cause the way i sit on them. I wae to everyone if i can if they dont wave back oh well dosnt hurt me.

Over here in Aus it's rare to see bikers wave, even guys on sports bikes rarely wave. I went on my friends cbr1000 the other day and not a single rider we passed waved (there was a few we passed also) I even tried waving at one and nothing.

You know I was just thinking this the other day. I ALWAYS wave, no matter what you're riding (unless it's a scooter). I used to ride a dual sport and now I switched to a sport bike but I will wave at everyone and anyone. But I have definitely noticed, a lot of people don't wave back. They don't see me? They ride a different style of bike? They are squids? I don't know, but I don't even pay attention to whether they wave back anymore, I just wave, and get on with my ride.

I used to tell all my boyz (I ran a sportbike club) to ALWAYS WAVE TO ALL OTHER BIKERS EVEN if they don't wave back.... let them have the problem (which doesn't even exist).... you be the big man!
And the hardest thing: don't get pissed if they don't.... smile, laugh and say to yourself "wonder what HIS problem is...lol"
The fact that you care makes you cooler then most... And not just bikers see the waves.... It will reflect on us to be the good guys..

its so weird in the UK its like the wave has been phased out, now people only nod to each other. and even then I have times where its not even jap bikes but a kawi wont eknowledge a suzuki or honda. and its different for "weekend riders" and "everyday riders" the every day riders are always friendly and happy to see another bike on the road. but the weekend worriors just fly by with nothing. and im just like you man, the only time i dont wave, someone waves and i feel like such a tool lol

Well,maybe it's because I live in the south(GA) but 98% of all riders wave to me and I wave back.I ride a sportbike and I get a lot of love from cruisers.I really don't understand why some people don't wave when they see you coming a mile away no matter what you're riding.We're all in this together so let's just show some more love.Peace

Here in Italy, on the roads near where i live at least, there's not much cruisers(you see them at metal concerts mostly) but the ones you find doesn't wave.
Sadly, even "riders" with Monster or bikes that could be probably more similar to Harleys than SSB's(not saying naked bikes, the ones like Monster etc) doesn't wave most of the time 'cause they're too though..at least that's what they think
