  • She got fucked by Weller ..............but so did Rick and Bruce !

  • Why is her voice always so low in the mix? The production is bloody awful.

  • @sumyoungay Maybe its the appeal of her looking real, as opposed to a spray tanned silicone filled brain dead zombie of these days i agree, but at the same time image has been important for pop music since the days of elvis, even tracy and her "non image" is quite clever.

  • @sumyoungay

Before excessive styling???? The eighties, the decade that brought us Boy George, Marilyn, Pete Burns, Duran Duran, Spaundau Ballet, etc

  • So depressing.

  • @OrangeFuzz123 ... hate to say it, but i agree. What ever happened to the classy songstress that was part of The Jam? ... sigh, she obviously was got to by those f@#king big recording studios to record this tripe. You just know: you can see it's all forced and she's faking the smile.

  • This is 80's tosh

  • Wow, didn't she look good!!!??? I used to hate the way she was billed as "Tracie" though, so thanks for billing her here as Tracie Young

  • Was and still is a very hot and talented ladie x

  • I found a piece of material stuffed into my larry lamb pyjama case the other day. I made a circular cushion from it in needlework, and must have had an offcut left, which made ideal stuffing for larry's tum tum. The reason I am sharing this is that after seeing this video, I now realise that Tracie's dress is made of the same material. What a small world, I wonder if she got that dress from Watford market.

  • Tracie was excellent she was so cool.

  • Damn she was fit - lost count of the number of times she helped me to sleep over the years!!!!

  • is this some kinda warpped lyrics or are you sayin "hey thats my maw"in which case that would have been much easier,,AND who's yer da,lets not leave him out UNLESS it could be contraversial!!!

  • @dodgysparks

mrddwig03 is definitely NOT the offspring of Tracie! Identical posts appear under other artists' videos as well. No idea why...drink problem, perhaps?

  • Tracie Young

Is My Real And Kind And Lovely And Mum And That Is True

And I Was With My Mum Tracie When My Mum Tracie Did Sing

This Song Give It Some Emotion Live On Top Of The Pops

    It Is True

  • I saw her performance in 1984 at Style Council opening act in japan.

  • i remember this

  • Aaah What memories = she looks uncomfortable miming though..

  • Or should I say ....'83!!!!

  • 'THE' summer song of '84! Still love it today...thanks for posting....

  • yes it was 83 babes

  • yes she did but of course her best work is with paul!!

  • Tracie was excellent she is a real 80s girl and one of the best singers Female of that time

  • Love this tune such a feelgood song

  • did she sing "who owns the house that Jack built"? around 1984

  • Comment removed

  • she did sing the house that jack built in 1983 she was also a backing singer on the jams last single beat surrender as well as 2 style council songs whos names elude me at the moment

  • One of The Style Council songs she performed on was "Speak Like a Child"

  • Tracie will be opening for Billy Franks at the Shepherds Bush Empire on 6 June 2009.

  • I gave her a ride in my taxi a few times, she was lovely....and she always tipped!

  • I met this Lady tonight..So nice & still a Stunner !

  • Who wrote it? Can the lyrics be found anywhere?

What ever happened to Arthur Scargill?

  • Top Tune - Should be covered and given a real wallop of a backing !!!

  • Yes definately

  • Had a real crush on Tracie watching this 25 years on I still have - this really is a great soul tune !!!

  • Great to have the full song finally though I admit I kinda miss Arthur Scargill popping up halfway through the song (see the 1st version posted by Withergoogie). It's so 1983!

Wouldn't it be great if Tracie & Arthur could be persuaded to record the song together? Paul Weller could dress up as a striking miner and the other two members of the Jam dressed as policemen could beat him with truncheons in the background; might be a cathartic experience to help them get over his splitting the band?

  • Fantastic! Loved Tracie, great voice, great records. Well done Weller for finding her.

  • This was a great pop song. Despite 2 TOTP appearances it didn't actually do that well only reaching 24 in the charts. I'm surprised nobody has ever covered it.

  • Thanks for posting this, it brings back some happy memories.
