I LOVE THE EASYBEATS *passes-out on the floor due to EasyFever! Gets up and says the following* Stevie = best frontman EVER!!!!!!!!!!!! *falls to the floor again*
Where and how do you get these videos? The local TV channels in Los Angeles have a wealthy rock and roll library from the 1950s on. Videos that aren't doing nothing and probably damaged already by time. Of course, they won't post them up here because "there is no profit." Too bad that greed gets in the way of artistic and educational expression and appreciation...
Phil Spector worked his ass off on this song and the original recording with Tina Turner was his greatest production ever. However the record went nowhere in 1966 and rumor has it that Phil retired because of that failure. In 1970 The Supremes teamed with The Four Tops and recorded a pretty decent version of "River Deep..." which was highly successful reaching #14 on Billboard's Top 40. This cover by Stevie & Easybeats is not bad at all.
Go and check out the lead singer (Stevie Wright) song Evie on YouTube. Stevie ended up a very sad figure in Australian music, but not before he recorded several great solo songs....
If you listen to the Saints' version of this song, you can tell that they based it on the Easybeats' version (which makes sense since they're from the same country).
Considering Celene Dion Needs a whole orchestra and 6 backup singers to sing over her tinny scrawney voice these guys just Blow Her Away! Nice Version...
Really tight to be live. This shows ho good they really were--unlike a lot of today's groups who depend so heavily on studio and mixing work to sound good!
This band is for real... I'm probably too late for the fan club but I intend to search out all their recordings. The energy they display is hard to resist...
Bought this vinyl 40 years ago...love all the cuts. Still have it in the garage somewhere. I can imagine little Angus and Malcom watching this energy and creating the next generation!!!
It's getting CRAZY on the dancefloor!!! Easy people!
