It's a shame how both the American and British versions of this show are popularity competitions and not dance shows. People on the American version have gotten nines and tens every week but loose second. Chris was a good dancer but Ali was a great dancer and she deserved to at least receive second place (only to Ricky though).

Yes I admit, Ali was the better dancer, but remember, most of the public do not ballroom dance, and they vote mostly on the popularity, so Chris and Ola understandingly depend on that, seeing as that would give them a good chance of winning the show. So although people like you and I, who know about ballroom dancing, know who should have gone through, some people don't and just vote for the couple that they like the best. I've been ballroom dancing for 11 years, and I'm voting for Chris and Ola!
U r 100% right - it has become a popularity show. Hopefully next year they will change the title of the show and ditch the judges - after all, they r there to judge the 'dancing' rather then their 'personality' however nice they may be.
For me this FAN-AST-IC american smooth & their BEAU-TI-FUL Viennse Waltz are the tow winning dances of not only this series but any so far- the real winners ALi & Brian

As for the group dance, Flavia, when training them, made it clear that crashing WAS allowed. Clearly that didn't put off the judges.
And as far as I'm concerned, the kiss didn't bother me. I fail to see what the big controversy is.

This lady was consistently overmarked, so I'm glad she's out. I'm pretty sure, also, that the supposed relationship with her partner was a cheap ploy to try to milk votes out of the viewers. It's been tried before, a la James and Camilla.
Austin going out last year was much more of a travesty than this as he was 10 times better than Ali. He was actually entertaining. Ali was boring.
Tom Chambers was not the best dancer last year Lisa was.
Darren Gough was not the best dancer. Colin and Zoe were much better

I think the result was perfectly fair. If it was based more on the judges, there would be people complaining about them being biased, if it was based more on the public vote, people would blame how much media coverage they get and favouritism. I'm a SCD fan and wanted A & B to go thro to the final but...2 things went against them: negative judge's comments against Chris (this always pulls in viewers votes) PLUS that tango A & B did which, tho superb, turns off a lot of viewers/voters (inc me). Sad for A & B. They deserve to be in the final; but I'm thrilled for Chris & Ola who have been wonderful, and subjected to unfair attacks from judges. As Brucie Bonus said, all 3 couples in semi are "finalists" because they all deserve to be.
A dance off (in this instance) might have been fairer. I know once they said Ricki's name first that Ali and Brian were out as Chris was a cert to go through with the public. Won't be watching next week - totally gutted that Ali and Brian aren't going to be there - they were for me the best dancers.

willsmaddison I agree that the 'Chris & Ola Journey' storey is complete rubbish. He's still as bad as he was from the start. It annoys me that he can't do something simple like closing his mouth, or to stop gurning or to make his hands more graceful. In his rumba he didn't have much to do he walked around. Just Ola dancing around him in no clothes as usual. I really don't think he puts in the effort at all.

It's sad that Ali is out, there is little competition for Ricky's dancing now. It's basically Good dancing vs. good personality, which is a shame. Chris would have been out if there was a dance off!

@Sashastube Actually, I don't know if he actually would have gone through and the dance off would have been between Ali & Ricky - gosh, that would be shocking and a hard decision, right?

Also, they could all have ended up with a total of 4 points so how did there being no dance-off solve anything?
Ricky had 3 points from judges and if he had 1 point from the public he would have had 4 points total.
Ali had 2 points from judges and could've come 2nd with the public and totalled 4 points.
Chris had 1 point from judges and could've scored 3 points from the public. He would then have 4 points also.
Also, if Tom Chambers had gone out in semis last year, he wouldn't have won.

i absoutley adore brian and ali dancing together and them being together it is a injustice they're not in the final they were one of the best couples in the entire competion i hope they stay together now and the final will be truly disappointing without them there!

willsmaddison I agree that the 'Chris & Ola Journey' storey is complete rubbish. He's still as bad as he was from the start. It annoys me that he can't do something simple like closing his mouth, or to stop gurning or to make his hands more graceful. In his rumba he didn't have much to do he walked around. Just Ola dancing around him in no clothes as usual. I really don't think he puts in the effort at all.

Loved that dance by far there best. cant believe they never got to the final they were by far better than Chris . Ali and Brian should of won. and if Ricky doesn't win then it would be so unfair.

I think it is disgraceful that these two aren't in the final. They should be there with Ricky and Natalie.
Say what you like about Chris and Ola, yeah the journey, the chemistry, the entertainment yada yada yada, but the fact remains that on a talent level, Chris isn't up to the level of the other two, and shouldn't be in the final.
I'm sure that, with these comments, I've opened myself up to attack from the Pro-Cola brigade, but I don't give a shit.

Also, the final would have been tremendous if it was Ricky vs. Ali. I watched the final but didn't vote for Ricky nor Chris because I wanted Ali to win! I wasn't really bothered who won and almost just watched it for something to do.

I cant beleive they didnt make it through!!! they were my fav strictly couple ever!!! they were so good together!! ireally wanted them to win!! im so sad theyre out!! they did excellent in this dance, they got 50 for god's sake, and the kiss at the end was very cute!!

I love the ending. I don't think that Ali knew that Brian was going to do it. I love this couple and am gutted that they aren't in the final. I just hope that Ali and Brian get together and are happy together.
