  • That's a cool exploder ..Edwards? I have the same monitor but I only have backlight bleeding..it's not too bad and not too visible during use but it's bullshit for $900. When the HELL is this going to be fixed by LCD technology clearly it's a huge issue wtf?

  • Exactly what I have on my ZR24w. Feels like a downgrade from my TN panel. Fingers crossed for polarizers.

  • Only the 2190 wit the Anti Glare Polarizer produces better off axis viewing. Its a pity that new high end displays like the PA241W have these issues.

  • well what i know its not the IPS panel that does that. Its the antiglare on the screen.

  • IPS panels seem to make the thing of buying a suitable LCD display muh more complicated....I guess I will watch out for some LCDs with PVA panels

    Luckily I feel like I can wait...another 4 years

  • @Quast Yeah, every LCD panel has its downsides. But if this bothers you than go with a VA monitor. My current monitor is an MVA and it produces excellent blacks (other than a little backlight bleeding). But good VA monitors are hard to come by these days so I think I'm gonna go with an IPS monitor next.

  • @Bristecom - Sadly, it seems harder to find VA monitors. :( Ironic, given people thought that VA monitors would take over in 'the market' due to compromising between IPS color accuracy and faster speeds for gaming.

I've read IPS panels are more prone to backlight bleed, especially lower-end models. Mine bleeds to the bottom and lower right, but middle/top/left are all okay.

TN is rubbish and color accuracy is a must. When my VAs started to go bad, I ultimately bought IPS panels.

  • @HypnoToad72 I think they're all probably equally as prone to backlight bleed. My MVA monitor died recently too but luckily I found a brand new one of the same model on Ebay. It may be 8 years old but I still think it's the brightest, clearest, most colorful, monitor under $250 out there. Strangely though, this new one has more backlight bleed and doesn't seem to have as good of viewing angles... But I'm still happy with it. Keep an eye out for Samsung PLS monitors coming. They're looking good.

  • @Bristecom Im actually looking at getting an IPS monitor within the next couple of months and the Samsung PLS monitors have REALLY caught my eye. Any idea on a release date? I contacted Samsung today and they were tight lipped.

  • @Illmatic662 Well there's a 27" 2560 x 1440 coming soon and a 24" 1920 x 1200 coming later. I personally want a 23" 1920x1080 though.

  • @Bristecom I'm actually interested in the 24" model as well. 27" display is good but the cost will probably be expensive.

Im hoping this 24" model is about $400 range.

  • @Illmatic662 Yeah, it should be since you can get 24" IPS monitors for around that price now and since Samsung claims PLS is cheaper.

  • @Bristecom Thats what they are saying that it is cheaper. That would be amazing if its true, the only handful of pictures that have been shows has been impressive. Its so hard to get more info on it though.

  • The NEC PA241W is doing exactly what the HP 2475 does, there is anoying glow at all four corners as you view the screen straight on as well, very distracting when working in a black background, NEC bring back the ATW Polarizer !!

    Very helpdul video thanks.
