• the most gorgeous girl sent me this video, and I'm 8900 miles from her. And I love her... .. think I should get on a plane and fly to South Africa to be with her?

  • @kernowrock555 as soon as possible.

  • Lol The Cure is not a 90's band! Ahahahahaahahaha

  • @sirus108 exactly they're originated from '79, through the 80's into the 90's and even still going now

  • Uwielbiam Cure zostały one moje alltime fav ponieważ byłem nastolatkiem. Bel que toda madre ...

  • Robert Smith has not aged well at all <=-/ Still love this band.

  • @napalmman420 true dat

  • Just a random comment saying something...please don't say that certain bands "suck" or "are shit". When you insult someone's taste in music that can really hurt their feelings. Yes, this a sesame street comment but people need to realize how condescending they sound...it's just music. I'm sure if you guys went to the classical section you would see a lot of "music from the 20th century sux lolololol"

  • @FeelingFreshSon agreed.

  • @chastonbaird Actually, '80's.

  • oh shut up and behave chastonbaird... music is just music, do not pigeon hole music, it's a crime..sounds like you read too many magazines... get your own way of thought going... Music Magazines don't know a thing.. they are there to get you to buy what te Music Industry want you to buy. F'in WAKE UP

  • oh shut up and behave chastonbaird... music is just music, do not pigeon hole music, it's a crime..sounds like you read too many magazines... get your own way of thought going

  • afi sings this WAAAAY better

  • @AFIrockshard You must have a tin ear.

  • @AFIrockshard you are an idiot.

  • @chastonbaird Rather be dead than cool

  • all them years and the guy still has a full head of hair...hes fucking lucky

  • i love smith

  • i lovesmith

  • Como pode existir uma musica tão maravilhosa??

  • Only Robert can still pull off that look at his age..he gets a lifetime pass!

  • for some reason i really really like this version...the last 'you you you, soft and only...you you you, lost and lonely' really gets to me :)

    Love you Robert. <3

  • EeeeeeeeeK!! He has no upper lip!!! 1:10

  • Lol he has to close his eyes cause of how bad the crowd is XD

  • Lol he has to close his on how bad the crowd is XD

  • @chastonbaird No, it's Alternative. And indie means independant, which The Cure were for a long time.

  • so glad one of the great 80's bands are still rocking. Long live the 80's new wave bands!

  • @chastonbaird The Cure 90's band? They have been around alot longer than that

  • First time I see and hear Robert Smith play this song without his 12 string guitar.

  • This is one of the worst videos I have whatever witnessed. I wish this band would have the courtesy to just die with whatever talent they had back in 1988.

  • in terms of pop Music, this is as good as it gets. This is just such a perfect song.

  • @Fisch269 It's not even right to call it pop music. Tough to lump them in with the "Pop" stars of this generation.

  • @mission762008 I didn´t lump them in with the Pop Stars, because I did not call them a pop band. Just said that this is the perfect pop song, the perfect combination of emotional singing, romantic lyrics and musical genious. This is what all the "pop" stars - as you call them - aspire to create - but fail miserable.

  • @chastonbaird what's cult? I don't know what genre you'd say the cure are, i mean they shifted so much in their career. They started post-punk, moved into gothier territory before becoming a synthy, pop band and then came... well, whatever you'd call disintegration and beyond. I'd say they're indefinable, that's part of the reason i love them so much.

  • we Cure fans don't have to argue what genre or category of music they belong...all i know is this is THE CURE genre.... :)

  • The cure is the cure..!!!! . la creme de la creme

  • the best music I had listen to so far... :)

  • Regardless of the fact Robert Smith is 37 years older than me, I still think I'm in love with him. hahaa.

  • The Cure...is The Cure. Has no genre. Truly unique!

  • haha my dudes are kinda fat when you think about it

  • DEMAIS ,SAUDADES DASX ÉPOCAS BOASSSSSSSS ,POR SADIA, BALNEARIO CAMBORIU SC

  • The Cure came before any genre people try to put bands into.

  • nice

  • Classic. One of music's truly most overlooked songs in terms of how sentimental a song can be. When Robert wrote it, he knew he had a masterpiece. Enjoy!

  • Did you just call The Cure indie? haha WHAT THE FUCK? Some of you are very stupid.

  • @LesserEidolon HAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! INDIE!?!?!?!?!?!? yeahh dood, when i listen to the cure the first bands i think of are the killers and the artic monkeys and the white stripes :P i mean comn wtf!?

  • @uhsuckit THE killers are fuucking awsome but even though the killers is my favorite band the cure tops them

  • Why does there have to be so much hate on YouTube? :( Especially when this song is so pretty!

  • @baughskeet because some folks have no lives and it's so easy to talk shit on the internet.

  • best ever without a doubt

  • the emo stuff if more the screamo, bring me the horizon sort of stuff. This is what I would call Indie. Beautiful Indie music.

  • @bfereday24 EMO IS IS JUST A TAIL OF THE GOOD STUFF.........

  • AFI are shit. The Cure are Gods. Got it?

  • AFI did not do justice to this song. Dino Jr did justice they took the song and gave it there soul. They showed the world what there frierndships hardships and loosely related yachts (lol) could co exist with the cures ideas and sounds. AFI just said "hey if you listen realy closly i may be robert smith." band slike pixies and the cure are originals they use soft undertones to get a message. These new gen. Xcore emo bands use god awfuls analogies......quiet frankly dont move to new emocore.

  • @HeyYourWrong I agree. Dinosaur Jr's version gave the song some good adrenaline without losing any intimacy of the song. Infact, I kind of like it better than the original and LOADs better than AFI. Davey Havok's voice is so breathy. He sounds like a pop diva...life if britney spears had a dick.

  • @newwind07 + infinity to this statement. seriously.

  • The cure are amazing! Afi did bring justice to this song.! Both bands give music a soul=)

  • I was born in 1980. The cure is the best!!!!!!!!!

  • @swtluvdude I WAS BORN IN 1968!!!!!!&

  • robert smith no matter how old is he but he will have always the same fantastic voice

  • I been having this debate with a friend for a long time; did The Cure start what we now know as "emo" music? I don't think so. I think The Smiths and other earlier bands did. What do you guys think?

  • THE SMITHS? NO..NOT AT ALL.

WHAT WE KNOW AS "EMO" WAS CREATED BY PEOPLE WHO THINK THEY DESERVE ATTENTION.

THEY'RE ALL A BUNCH OF QUEERS SUCH AS AFI AND MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE.

  • @poidog776 Not the Cure and not The Smiths, what you probably know as "emo" like AFI and the other fags on MTV are not really emo, emo is from the 80's I think.

I don't know why ppl relate the cure to emo, maybe his looks, but that was kinda normal during the 80's, only he got a darker look with the years, and the cure's song aren't depressive or sad, just a few, most of em are wtf or happy

  • @poidog776 : I love The Smiths. One of my favorite all time bands no doubt; but I'm sorry to tell you, The Cure came before The Smiths. The Smiths came on the scene around 1982 and The Cure had been around since 77' or 78.' Also, let's get rid of this silly debate. The way I see it, Emo seems to be an up in the air sort of genre. If what passes as Emo on the radio and MTV is any indication of what that music sounds like, I would never want The Smiths or Cure to be labeled as such.

  • @poidog776 : Post Modern/ 80's College Radio, Cutting Edge, Indie Pop or Alternative Music but Not Emo.

  • "Why are you so far away?" she said

"Oh, won't you ever know that I'm in love with you

That I'm in love with you"

i F****n love the cure. it doesnt matter if you were born in the 80s or 90s or earlier.

  • hey check out BEATSTEAKS cover version in my opinion best one :)

    but orginal is fine too

  • the dinosaur jr. version is better

  • fishbone

  • i freakin' love this song <3

  • The Cure. Best. Band. Ever.

  • All these years later, and they still pretty much play the song as they recordered it..I hate it when bands put a new spin on thier classics.

  • In his 50's and still rocking long hair, eyeshadow and eyeliner, that my friends is a badass

  • im in love with this song x)

  • Robert Smith is not aging well. I would say hes too old for that haircut..... but he'll never be! he still has the spark :)

This is one of my favorite songs of all time, so beautiful sung, composed, performed. I love the cure ♥

  • im not even a big fan of the cure, but i have to agree, AFI's version of this song was TERRIBLE. Davey sung it like crap, it lost ALL emotion.

  • @shiphigh hey dude, every1 knows that AFI's cover much better than the origina, and Robert Smith also know that truth...

  • @Laney3000 dude yea for reals dude, dude you are so right dude. That dude robert smith definetley knows the truth dude.

  • the cure is simply the BEST!!!

  • @unraveled76 I was reading that they haven't been inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall o Fame. What a $#@^ crime!

  • @solismare1 i agree, that is a crime, but a lot of great bands never really get the recognition they deserve.

  • the cure is the best of the best 80's and 90's.

  • @derekNS74 well why don't you check out the video yourself and let me know when u change your mind.... If u want to see the vid yourself look up afi just like heaven live and u see who's so stupid.

  • @Queenjonrs who the fuck is afi

  • there like the best band in the world just look at the related videos

  • @Queenjonrs AFI's version is shit. don't know where you heard that, but I'd guess that he was more pissed about an unauthorized cover than anything else.

  • This is incredible. It's the first time I've heard them live, so I'll definitely look for more. Thanks for sharing. xXx

  • good

  • Love the contrast between the posture of the lead and bass guitarists lol.

So glad to have seen the original Cure line-ups a number of times, they're not The Cure anymore, they're Robert Smith and his backing band.

Not the greatest live version of this song ever, either.

  • @kimchibaka

    oh cum on.

its smith, thompson, gallup and cooper.

    this IS the cure

  • rob smith just like heaven¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • cool song.

    :)

  • i agree

    o wheres boris :I

  • @The1ne07 fuck off

  • the cure rocks!!!! robert smith ..i love him and this song too!!!!!

  • Still rockin' the makeup, Robert. <3 The Cure forever.

  • I love you Michelle

  • biogiotti:

YOur Normal is not my Normal...

    Viva La Difference!!!

And Long Live The cUre !!!

  • Robert Smith and The Cure are like legends and deserve respect. However, Davey Havok's got an amazing voice and he does this song justice when AFI performs it. Props to both bands.

  • @jphoenixfan Totally agree with you there. Love both the Cure version and the AFI version of this song! By the way, the Goldfinger version is also quite good :).

  • @jphoenixfan It's amazing that Davey Havok can still sing at all, let alone as well as he does considering he ripped his vocal cords and had surgery. I guess all those years of screaming finally caught up with him. His vocal style has changed, but he definitely has talent.

  • the Best szkoda że tak mało tego typu muzy w Polsce ostatnio można usłyszeć, granej live

  • yuck, this guy is getting way to old to be wearing make-up.

He's starting to look like a creepy old transvestite now. Lol damn just look normal man!

  • @biagiotti2006 please, more respect with the legends, I don't know what "normal" for you is, really I don't mind, I think you're a creepy mind retarded who lives 4 centuries ago, this is Robert's look, and he became famous because of that, of course for his incredible talent too.. come on man, be more respectful!! Fuck you!!!

  • He! He! He!

  • You know what I think "normal" is? Stereotypical herd-like behavior which robs people of creativity and individualism. I find it odd when people get defensive in reaction to someone who is different than what they consider normal. I simply can't wrap my mind around the mindset needed to have that kind of reaction. I suppose the only way I can relate is when I get a weird feeling around people who are retarded, or otherwise mentally or physically disabled. I know it's wrong, but I can't help it.

  • filfhty666 didn't comment on his look. he didn't say whether they liked it or not. All they said was that his look made him famous and that you should respect him. After all, he is a legend.

I'm sure your brain won't let you comprehend that.

  • Agree completely. Normal doesn't exist. It's all in perspective. This is a part of his act, and it's who he is. Why shouldn't he be able to be himself just because his age?

On a bit of a negative note(Sorreh!), I'm not pleased with his voice, but it happens, people grow older, so nothing you can do. Great they're still rocking out though.

  • I never ever thought that Smith's voice was actually that great. But it was his and it 's original and I always liked it. Still like it. What I marvel about Smith is his lyrics. Just read his lyrics without the music. It stands on its own.

  • @biagiotti2006...It's not like Robert Smith wears make-up 24/7. It's for show. Take for example...Alice Cooper, KIss. Ozzy and so on. They wear make-up for show, but not when they're not performing. Same with Robert Smith.

  • Damn...Bobby's put on a "few" pounds over the years, hasn't he?

His voice isn't what it used to be, either...unfortunately.

  • not that bad asshole

  • I've been a Cure fan for over 20 years and always will be...and you're calling me an asshole because I stated the truth...and the obvious? Go fuck yourself, douchebag.

  • amozartii,

It's a fair point mtlnascarfan has made. I don't look as good as I did when I was in the crowd watching him in 78!! Still rather listen to a slightly fatter, slightly off key genius than this modern nigga shite you get on the radio today!!!! Eh? Wot????? The Cure rules!!!!!!!

  • The greatest song written as well as the most Meanongful!

  • cant we just get along...

its a great song lets leave it at that.

  • wtf is AFI?

  • AFIForever,

    You fucking dumbass turd kicker!

You seem to forget one small detail...... Robert Smith wrote this fucking masterpiece! If AFI were so fucking good, why didn't they write it and let Robert sing it?? I'll tell you..... Cos Robert wrote it before that Davey faggot was even rolling round in his fathers tiny ballbag, that's why!! I bet Daveys father wished he'd had the snip when he saw what he'd produced! Fuckin sausage jockeys, the lot of them! WAKE UP DICKBRAIN!

  • davey's dad died when he was a child...

    :[

AFI doesn't suck... The Cure doesn't suck...

we're here to listen to a beautiful song that still holds the same meaning no matter who sings it... so let's just enjoy.

  • afi sucks cure rules

  • afi sucks

  • No Robert Smith is in the crowd thinking 'What am i doing here?'

  • Robert Smith used to be the hottest thing ever. But now he looks like hell.

  • he is the only one to ever do this song good. afi is crap.

  • Great guys

    Terry !!!!

  • I LOVE YOU SANDRA !!!

  • shut up morons ...the CURE are Legends....

  • Comment removed

  • yo re BRAIN DEAD...so yo live yor life like zhat .HATE is a good thing ..i mean for start,,,(OMG-i*m far away from belliver...but....)

  • shiws what a great band they are, playing all the classics that were with keyboards, WITHOUT...

robert looks quite aged in this...

  • How come the guitarist looks different? Is he still the original guitarist? BTW AFI isn't good, They are a "wannabe" rockers^^

  • I think the members of AFI would be better suited to mincing about on the stage of a gay fashion show. All that hair flicking and hip swaying. lol.

Check out the way the cure plays this song live. They are just casually playing the music. Check out AFI.Mincing about. Let us not forget who wrote this song. something AFI needs to remember. They had to cover this song cos all theirs are SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • BRAVOOOOO!!!!

  • I wouldn't go so far as to say that he has a "beautiful" voice. Kind of whiny and annoying. But they do well. Unfortunately, they do not play as well as you are saying. lots of repetition. Ease up and start listening to other bands. You'll get the full picture then. You can't have a little crush on just one band.

  • i like a.f.i. but i think most people will dissagree because a.f.i. doesnt really have as good of writing skills that robert smith and the cure have

  • Comment removed

  • A very special song. Beautifully done !

  • i think afi and the cures version is both good, i agree with pyschomidget482 it depends on which voice you like better there both great bands ^__^

  • awesome anyway!

  • and keyboards????

  • Comment removed

  • I love the faded purple color....it's so

    AWESOME !! Spookyyyy I dig Robert ~~

  • You know what, fuck all of you who think that the Taking back sunday or AFI covers are better or just as good, they both suck ass. The Cure's version is the best, so go suck on that asswipes!

  • I dont think they are better but I think the vocals AFI did fit the song better.

  • Comment removed

  • how can you say that another band who covered the song was better? Smith and the cure wrote the song there the ones who know how to play it. Even tho this isn't the original cure

  • I can say they sang it better. Obviously the cure have the better version but Havok seemed to be realy into the song and even Smith loved it.

  • his voice is too harsh for how mellow the song is afi did a better cover than the original

  • lolz that cover by afi was rly suck T.T anyways check the original version thats much better

  • Comment removed

  • Love this song, one of my faves! Its one of those songs that can always! make me smile when im down! Love it there the best!..Sat in starbucks today and they were playing constantly! :D was awsome xxx <3
