Shinn is one of my favorite gundam main characters. He has a plausible drive for what he is doing, he has genuine skill, and he's not invincible. He is such an interesting character, too bad people do not approve of him.

@SRNF I actually feel a tragic ending would have fit this show better. This show was way too much Kira and Athrun save the day. GS was much better. Shinn actually surviving and giving in makes his character kind of a pussy, I didn't like that, they chopped off his balls at the end completely, I'd have prefered instead of being beaten by Athrun quickly and surviving, that he gave Athrun such a fight that Athrun had no choice to kill him, that would have been much more interesting.

but how do think that shinn is a char the char of a series is always a experienced veteran with a dark past and who wears a mask to ether hide his true identity or hide his shame and they never pilot gundam they always pilot custom regular forces units and have there own colour scheme given to them to set them out from the rest

Kinda, The Director did say Shinn would lose everything except Lunamaria, but he did say that he didn't know what happened in the last episode, meaning that either Shinn was double-teamed by both Kira and Athrun after Kira takes care of Rey or Shinn just chose Lacus' side for no reason. Well I respect your opinion but it's just speculation, since they never really had a meaningful fight in the last episode.

I was sure Shinn was trying to reason with Athrun to return to ZAFT in this episode(37), and Shinn pretty much did everything, In 1:23 it's kinda shown that Rey stepped back. And no that was a speculation I made IF the Director used the original script.

Shinn was driven mad in the last episode because Athrun said that "He's destroying the future"(the lamest line in Gundam History). Actually Shinn forgave them because Kira apologized and said something about replanting flowers.

In a way, Seed-D happened cuz Kira was a coward; Kira ended the first war, but he still had the mentality of wanting to live like a normal dude, but the thing is, peace needs to be protected by strong people like him.

Kira's weakness paved way for Shin's downfall, cuz Shin was extremely idealistic with some strength, but he was too simple and so was manipulated in the end. Then finally Kira realized his weakness and decided to change at the end of seed-D during his talk with "evil senator"

Personally, I can see some matching pattern of dialogues between Kira and Shin from Seed 1 and 2. For example:

The struggles in Shinn's mind which causes the SEED to burst and strike Athrun, remember he didn't want to before he literally went bananas lol.
