I would agree that it is a problem, but I think it is part of a natural process humans have when dealing with the unknow other. we mentaly want to bring order to the chaos of possibility and therefore attempt to group nations and even individuals in neat lilttle groups. That person is a "jock" or a "geek" or group by sex, orentation, religion, physical traits, of modes of behavior. We righfully distain the lables becasue it is almost always inadaqite in really describing the other, we still do.
I was thinking about this last night, because of statistical categories and people saying, "All X are Y" Being a complicated Venn diagram myself (person, fiction writer, father, transplanted Long Islander, Democrat, retired musician, atheist, etc.), it still seems to me that many people categorize themselves by one data point, and therefore categorize the surrounding culture in the same way. In a religious nation, not all will be religious, but a great deal will define themselves only by faith
Even more curious is when we do it to others regardless of how they would prioritize their own list of traits. I know ALL about transplanted Long Islanders...
very nice put, i can only say i agree, its as if its the most important thing in the world, and not ok do you need my help with....., or how ever one choose to say it =))

Wow, I got hit in the face by my own prejudices for judging you by your appearance.
Sensible words.

Smartest anthropological mind on youtube, and considering how many smart folks I've met, that's saying a lot.
