This guys voice drives me crazy, UMmm, Ummmmm, Ummmmmm. Like he's always trying to find the right answer, always looking up finding his words, DUDE are you even a expert on this? your not paid to think your paid to work!!
what training would ye recommend for an u12 cyclist in the national championships, ireland? im currently doing 4 training sesions a week, two of which are intervals, 1 is a long endurance cycle at the weekend (usually about 60km) and the last one was a recovery cycle but i now will probably do hill repeats instead. any advice would be great. thanks
This must have been filmed in Oregon. I noticed the National Guard Armory in Cottage Grove (35sec.). That street is definitely not a hill, it is flat. I guess whoever was filming tilted the camera to make it look like a hill.
So your a fucking Aussie what you want a fucking medal. I'm Irish 210 pounds likes to drink and fight bare knuckles once in a while against good fighters lived in France.. so if a Aussie wants to have a go off a cyclist then we could sort something out
man i can tell 10 times go like this is way to low. need more. i was cyclist and i know how much it needs. we about 100km go on hills. and always sprint no resting.
Huckfinn, I did that once. I was biking through a town and was stopped at a light. I was over to the right of the street, to allow cars to go around me. But a redneck, like bigcunt, got right behind me and begin blowing his horn and laughing with his girlfriend. I got so mad, I jackknifed my bike, drug the guy out of his truck and beat the fuck out of him. He was cying like a wee girl. I looked over at his girlfriend and said "How does it feel to watch your man get beat up by a guy in tights!?"
Cyclist belong on my bullbar after i ram them in there litle poofty looking tights. If your going to use the road you should pay rego just like every other road user out there, I better wash that cyclist blood and guts off the bullbar again.
As made obvious by your name and word usage you are obviously around the age of 20. you drive a truck making you most likely a red neck. You are obsessed with female genitalia which is either your way of compensating for your lack of experience in that area or your insufficient male genitalia but you still think that you are, as you would say it, "the shit". I hope next time you "ram" a cyclist, if you ever had the balls to, that cyclist gets up and beats your ass.
@huckfinn12453 hahahahaha, well first of all im in my thirtys, I drive a 4wd and i am an aussie so redneck is something that i call a yank. I am a bloke that loves women like any true aussie bloke unlike these latte sipping shaven fucking metrosexual cyclist types going around. im 6 foot 4 and 115kgs so if a little poofy looking cyclist wants to have a go, good luck to ya

Another great tip: if you bicycle, please stay the fuck out of the road. Regardless of what you think, your not as fast as a car (which roads were intended for.) And you make people have to go around you damn near in the other lane which is dangerous.
@JETHO321 Bike lanes are not universal; sometimes you can't help but riding on the road. "which roads were intended for" Roads were intended for vehicles, whether that's a motor vehicle or self-propelled. Instead of crying about cyclists who are getting a good workout while not pouring money into the rich, corrupt oil industry - why don't you try and get your municipality to make more bike lanes?
@JETHO321 Here´s another tip: please stop driving your car. If you can´t overtake a bike without danger to others you should let somebody else do the driving. Buy a bus ticket and leave the roads to those who can behave among others.
@JETHO321 As a cyclist, I am not going to ride through rocks and broken glass on the side of the road. Don't honk, we know you are there. We make as much room as possible when needed. It's called sharing the road. Keep your composure, so will we. Is slowing down for 30 seconds to wait to pass really going to delay your arrival that much?
IMO hills is where you seperate the men and the weight weenies, no I mean boys, hehe.
But seriously, when it comes down to it, you have to go all out, or your just doing nothing, you think Lance justs takes it easy?? No he gives everything he has in every pedal stroke, in order to succeed in anything in life is through going through some pain, It wont hurt forever but you will gain experience from it. Plus its very mental.
you can't go 100% 100% of the time you'll never get anywhere with that attitude...in order to succeed in life you need to plan things out not just go in guns ablazing...road racing is very methodical sport so if you think you can go into a race and floor it the whole time you'll come in last place every time
@djivori This is True to a degree. And a VERY small one. This is a TRAINING video... and you need to train harder than you "compete" . Its a catch 22 with a bit of lies.
I give 100 percent during training and practice so i know come the competition or event; I will be able to say in my head. ""Ive been more tired in training shut the F up and keep pedaling"" Its obvious you dont want to ""blow your load"" early . With that said. You need to know what it feels like to be at 100percent. Caution
@Bouchaneusmc This is VERY true if you race and you have a proper training schedule that includes 12 to 16 weeks of base miles focused on building your aerobic system...the "hard" training begins with specialization when your close to your race.
@daFranch1se69 If you start in Skagway AK , sea level, 18 miles later you are at 3300ft. I did it twice last year pulling a bob with my camping gear. I'm 55 and weigh 260 lbs. I did a couple of weeks work on some 9% hills in Haines AK. I love the hills.
@daFranch1se69 He is talking about training, not racing and even racining is only 100% when required. Lance and all the other top riders do many thousands of kms at below 100% and only put in the training required at the paticular time of season to meet thier goals. Its a build-up, planned, step by step, and from a sound base of many miles at well below 100%.
@daFranch1se69 You received 12 thumbs up from people who don't understand the fundamentals of training. No! Never! Ever! - push all out during training (perhaps unless you're training for sprinting). That's a sure-fire way to screw yourself majorly. Tendonitis, joint deterioration, muscle strain, etc... Don't be foolhardy. If you think you should push to max heart rate climbing hills during training, then you probably never read a single book/article about proper, effective training.
@daFranch1se69 i was board so i was lookin up stuff like this i dont road race i dont ride road at all im into hard core mountainbikeing but i have this gnarly hill by my house its about a 50 % grade hill so im gonna use this methed to get in shape for next season any tips for me. o yea and lance is stupid hes proved he can ride the tour as an old fart now he needs to let some young guns win
dont hit the hill as hard as you can you will blow out and suffer. the best thing to do is get spinning a low gear around 200 meters before the start and hold your cadence for as long as your can and try not to shift into a lower gear. get your pedaling in sync with breathing in out left right etc.
anybody out there livin in the philippines? particularly baguio city? i need sumone to ride with and who can push me past my limits...hills here are crazy (up to 30% grade)! but i love it!
I went 50 miles today in the mountains ( not hills ) for a time of 1 hour and 42 mins. This is right under 30 miles an hour. Anyone in the boone NC area let me know if you wanna make a team. I ride almost every single day

Good points. Not going uphill in a big big gear: That will just add bulk and/or give you knee pain. But, you should try and charge up the hill as rapidly as you can. This will also force you to pedal CONTINUOUSLY. I used to be a runner. And one thing about running, you have to keep it up constantly. (Unless you do "run/walk" to get into shape.) Cyclists, even if they don't admit it, spend a lot of time coasting (sleeping.) Charging up hills forces them to work constantly.
I don't think he said anything about getting "big" or bulking up. If you have to down shift at the beginning of a hill to a super low gear you are gonna get dropped. There are only two ways to improve your climbings. Increase your power or decrease the mass your legs have to move. I guess if you aren't a good cyclist building a decent cadence would be a 3rd....
okay that was a useless video...... but he is right about the highest gear thing tho, you should go full out on a flat on your highest gear and gradually shift down when you feel the strain on your legs in mid hill till your on your lowest gear, then repeat the process and time yourself as well see how far you can get uphill.
