did yours come with a binding tied at the top of the fingerboard over the strings? I can't tell if you're supposed to remove that or not, it seems to function as a nut on mine and to reduce the jawari effect you mentioned on yours. Also, I'm getting weird, grating overtones on a few certain notes that seem to emanate from the skin head on the "drum" body. Have you encountered this as well? It almost sounds like a tear in the head on those notes but I see no damage. Thanks for posting this!
@ronsmusic76 Why yes it did, and I didn't even think about it until months after posting this review. I looked at some videos of Egyptian Rabab and it appears that you are correct about the "nut." The problem is that YT is really lacking an Egyptian Rabab expert who can direct us all in this - you have some great flute vids. Maybe as you get better with Rabab you could show us all how to play.
