It is 100% a defect and that is why Apple swapped out 3 of them for me before I gave up on the fourth and the fully refunded me admitting it was a problem. The reason it is happening is because the 1st gen resin in the factory was making workers sick from the fumes so they moved over to an alcahol based resin that is not doing the job. It is VERY much a problem.

I have had 2 iPad so far from apple store, first one had bleeding edge problem and second one had bleeding edge problem as well as a dead pixel lol

I'm going for the third and if they don't satisfy me I will sue them :D

If both your ipads bleed then you have 2 faulty ipads. My ipad one is fine with zero bleed, Ive had 2 ipad2s and the bleed is awful on them. Stop defending Apple.

I've just bought an iPad 1 and the screen bleeds on one side but it's minimal. I think the scale of the problem will depend on each specific device.

I have that type of light at the bottom of my screen on my nook color but it's goes (turning down the light) away the same way you display in this video.

For everyone that is "claiming" the brightness is down on the iPad first gen and up all the way on the iPad 2 please watch 1:00 and up! Also take into account that it gets worse when the brightness is all the way up anyway! Oh and btw I'm not saying the iPad 2 is better than the first one in this sense.... I'm simply saying EVEN the first gen had it therefore its normal! Please understand before you comment... thanks for watching!
