'You alright down there, you getting squashed' He was talking to be when I was 12 years old. I was getting squashed left right and centre, I thought he would just walk past, but he shook my hand was very polite :D One of the best days of my childhood!
I was just wondering if he comes out before the play as well as after? I'm going in November and would love to get an autograph but if he does the same before the play I'll try and get one then
considering he's out there for at most 2 minutes, where he just starts off at one end of the barrier and continues to the other side of the barrier, I doubt it, unless you can somehow get a picture with you in it with him while he's passing by. He doesn't really stop. And he's not out for long.
I don't understand why people have such a problem with it. For quite a lot of shows, people wait to see the actors by the stage door. When it happens that there's more popular actors in it, obviously there's going to be people, they know that.
And honestly, as an American, I'll never catch seeing him in person again as he doesn't do stuff in the US. Was my one chance.
And the night we went he was only out for a max of 2 minutes. He goes down the line once, and goes inside. That's it.
What a testament to what a gentleman he is, that he comes out, despite being completely knackered! Bless him! And don't gang up on whoever shot this, it's David's choice for pity's sake. ;-) thanks for the post, lucky you! :D
Well he doesn't have to come out after the play, it's not required of him, and he doesn't always do so. And he's well aware of what he's getting into.
Well said - he looked tired the night I was there and said very little when he came out - I did feel a bit guilty that he'd come out to sign a few autographs if he was that weary - but equally, he doesn't have to come out, and, as you say, doesn't do so every night. It's his choice, and he is enormously appreciated when he does. He is a brilliant Hamlet, bringing Shakespeare to a new audience. Thanks for your video!
Well, he did use to go stage doors for autographs and pics when he was young (I remember him saying that about Derek Jacobi), so it's pretty clear he's not bothered by fans at the stage door, as long as they're not crazy, of course. And when he's tired or busy, he simply doesn't come out.
=[ Aww I'm so sorry. He went by so quickly (which I expected from reading stuff before hand), I almost though I wouldn't get one, I reached as far as I could to get one.
I was there that night too! Thank you sooooo much posting this! I was sitting in the circle, seat A3! I definitely have to favourite this clip!!!! I'm soooo happy - thank you!
lol! "You're the best person at a crash barrier I've ever seen". I assume that was in response to someone telling him he was the best Hamlet they'd ever seen. Hee. :D
I think they said "I have my pen!" And he said "God bless you, you're the best person at the crash barrier right now." (Though his speech went a bit quieter so I think he said something else).
Great vid! When I went to the signing I didn't manage to get any pics or videos...but got an autograph though so it was worth it :) I'll be treasuring that for a long while!
The show was awesome - did Patrick Stewart come out at this signing?
I know I wasn't expecting anything. So it was all amazing. Patrick did come out, he was out there right as David was getting to the end of the line. And I think he was going a bit slower than David as well (I got his autograph as well as David's)

I was aiming to go out last Saturday but had the feeling it was disrespectful to him as an actor - he'd done the play leave the man alone
