  • Very nice vid and great job with the wash plant

  • Hi all, my company has been asked to quote for a gold-purpose trommel and we have been sent all the technical drawings etc. We were wondering literally how it works in getting the gold out of the rocks; in short - does the gold fall through small holes at the end of the drum? Does it fall out of a different location?

Forgive my ignorance but we are accustomed to designing and manufacturing digger buckets, not stuff like this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • nobody knows how to anything on Gold Rush Alaska

  • @Joebo7787 GOT THAT RITE.I am surprised Dorsey didint kill any one.

  • lets deport all the illigals out of Alaska and send them back to europe......

  • Thumbs up to my last comment if you agree about Gold Rush Alaska

  • I watch Gold Rush Alaska, but so far it I wouldn't say it's been about Rushing Gold...I'd say it's been about equipment breaking down, and people arguing.. since the series started. Really disappointing

  • @NewJerseyJay I know how you feal.Very disappointing.

  • Thumbs up if you watch Gold Rush Alaska on Discovery channel. Are you one of the 65,000,000?

  • @TheFr1ch A little disappointed.But otherwise YES I AM.

  • Just remember the 1860s gold rush. Very few got rich. Mining is hard work you dont just sit on equipment all day and watching the dollar signs go up. Its the other was around, you watch them go down. Plus you'll have more then a fair share of problems aside from your equipment and then add in the headache of you equipment (Unless you got a lot of start up capital, like this crowd). Most people start with machines older then themselfs. Its expensive even for the small guy.

  • those guys on Discovery's Gold rush Alaska need to watch this. that's a nice setup

  • cool machines,and nice setup,any jobs LOL

  • ... streets of Heaven will be paved with gold ... gold-miners, placer or not, who knock that deal back become very long-term firemen ...

  • Woha i got gold fever and when i get money i will fly to Klondike and dig for gold!

  • @LordVonrick The actual Loose yardage presesed at the site varies. The equipment is capable of 180 peek loose yards per hour. I have seen when they were running as low as 50. A loose yard is around 1.5 tons, so that makes this range 75-250 tons per hour. The equipment was all new. which is uncommon in placer mining & I estimate it was around $2Million, & if bought today $2.5Million, or more would be my estimate.

  • Hey Howe, I am a small time prospector, and a certified welder/fabricator. I would love to get into this kind of work, I realy would like to come up to AK as well, what would it take for me to get into the bigger operations? Thanks for sharing this vid. Denys.

  • @hunter69denys If you are looking for work, with a mine I can not give any leads. All of the good companies I know of have plenty of help at this time. If you are looking at starting a new mine, then you will need to figure 2-5 years before getting a return & an investment of $300K if you are very capable & carefull. Most good large placer mines have more than that invested.

  • @hunter69denys

    just do it.

  • Thats a nice trommel there! huh i wonder what is more efficient at feeding trommels? My dad has two employees that used to be miners and said the excavator can do anything any other piece of equipment can do and is best for any situation in a mine. Only thing i think excavators arn't efficient at is stacking tailings so you dont get backlogged. How many yards per hour will that trommel do?

  • @rcsupercubbuilder It will process around 180 yards per hour. Excavator works ok for feed, I believe a well built apron feeder is the very best, but will cost 2x what a good excavator does & you still need to have a hoe for digging drainage. A dragline is also nice to have to keep your pond mucked out. John :)

  • That's fine I understand. I was just at a mine up the haul road delivering fuel last week.

  • Hey John this is Chuck from FMS days. How are you ? Where was this mine located ? Near Fox ?

  • @akbychoice Doing OK. Mostly making aspers (parts as per sample) right now, kinda boring, but still pays the bills. The owner does't want me to tell where he is currently located, but it is not Fox. stop in & say Hi. John :)

  • excellent video man. Our family owns a large commercial placer mine in Northern British Columbia. Big money heavy equipment here in this video. Our stuff is older but well maintained.

  • I like that setup, very mobile!

  • Must be getting some good values there to pay for that great set-up. Love it!

  • This was one of the few operations that was fully funded befor mining started, but yes they do get a good return (I am not at liberty to tell how much).

  • That nugget must be 100 pounds!!!

  • I had held the nugget, but it was a long time ago. I would guess 40# but was at least 30 & not over 60. Howee :)
