  • best pull in lifting history at this date

  • Ed Coan, the best powerlifter ever, PERIOD!

  • Ed Coan is the best powerlifter that ever lived.

  • Hmmm maybe it doesnt work on the iphone i checked amd it wasnt there? Ill check on the comouter

  • How come you took down the ed coan compilation you made that was awesome. Unless your just in the process of making another one with all the newer vids than thats cool lol

  • @DJPLER I did not take it down. Here are a number of ways you can find it:

    1. youtube . com /watch?v=S9L5XJta3Ag

    2. It is the featured video on my channel, youtube . com /deadlift901

    3. Go to my channel and click "Uploads", it is listed there

    4. It is included in my "Ed Coan" playlist

    5. It is a video response to this video

    6. Search YouTube for "Ed Coan Compilation"

  • @deadlift901 Your Ed Coan Compilation is now bocked from being viewed in the UK and probably a bunch of other places 'This video contains content from SME and UMG, one or more of whom have blocked it in your country on copyright grounds.'

Probably due to the sound track is there any chance you could upload it again with a different sound track or even with out a sound track ? The whole world needs to see more of the greatest powerlifter of all time!!

  • @anon111us Thanks for the heads up. I just uploaded a silent version entitled "Ed Coan Compilation (No Audio)."

  • @deadlift901 Wow thanks mate, that was fast!!

  • @deadlift901 wow thanks mate, that was fast!

  • You film this with a calculator??

  • @legendofjd3 VHS copyright protection is a bitch and so are you.

  • @legendofjd3 Those jokes are so lame now.

  • edddddddddd COANNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

  • I love when people question the plate loading at sanctioned meets in well known reputable federations.

  • Greatest deadlift in history

  • People say Jay Cutler, Dexter, Ronnie....You bring up a TRUE powerlifter named Ed Coan they like "HUH!?!? WHO!?!?"

  • @DreadfulControversy Comment makes no sense as none of the former are powerlifters.

  • @DazedNConfused01 No, it makes perfect sense, you just don't know how to comprehend what I'm saying *shrug*

  • Greatest lift in the history of powerlifting.

  • 901 at 220 Raw. That's fucking insane. If he were Andy Bolton's weight he could have probably pulled well over 1100 raw, just to put it into perspective.

  • @RaisedByTheSword666 well, looking at most raw world records, each lift is about 20 lbs higher in each weight class. so, seeing that andy bolton pulled about 953, you can say that because he is 4 weight classes higher than eddy, bolton should be able to pull 980 for it to be equal with coan's lift.

maybe if bolton was 500 pounds it would be different but hes only in the low 300's

  • @RaisedByTheSword666 that would seem to be the case, but any lifter will tell you that you get "diminishing returns" past a certain point when it comes to bodyweight versus deadlift max. Getting bigger doesn't do as much for the deadlift as it does for the squat, for example, and the best deadlifters pound-for-pound are ususally a lot lighter than you expect. Superheavies who can pull 800 raw are rare, whereas superheavies who can squat 800+ raw are all over the place.

  • @Swiley117 Agreed

  • That's just so awesome.....

  • Man, he lifted this with ease o.o

  • so he was stronger in 1991 than in 1996? i've seen his 850DL vid at 1996 when he was 242 so compared to this he was stronger in 1991

  • @muzimuzi Sometime after his 901 deadlift, Ed suffered some type of groin injury that prevented him from pulling sumo. Ed's conventional deadlift never surpassed his 901 sumo deadlift.

  • @deadlift901 are you saying his sumo deadlift was generally higher than his conventional one?

  • @muzimuzi Generally, yes. In his deadlift video, which was shot when he was still able to pull sumo, he says that the reason why he pulled sumo in meets was because he used his back a lot in the squat and that would have affected his conventional pull. His best conventional deadlift in a meet was 887 @ 242.

  • And he ain't wearing any of that two ply denim horse shit either. Freakin' Sweet.

  • I just realized he did x4 times FOUR TIMES his own bodyweight - its really unbelivable

  • @Thor397 Andy bolton did 1000+ at SHW too wich just shows how fuckin beast ed coan is. He is the best ever. There is only one coan.

  • That was amazing. Ed, you truly are the greatest powerlifter to ever grace the sport. If I had a hat, I would tip it in your direction.

  • fuckin beast, he actually weighed out at like 218 or 219 too.

  • Its amazing i never knew they had powerlifting records that high back then

  • Holy Christ that was hardcore

  • deadlifting more than four times his body weight. crazy man.

  • What's the name of that song?

  • Its insane how strong Coan is. Just incredible.

  • the biggest deadlift ever Andy Bolton did 1000lbs and that unreal but 900 at under 220 and in those days we weighed in the morning of the comp

also check our Vince Anello 800+ at 198 !

  • God, that was so easy. Looks like he could have pulled 20-30 pounds more on his next attempt. I can't imagine being under 242 pounds deadlifting over 900. But I guess that's why he's the best of all time.

  • I thought he was 99.8kg for that lift -219.5lbs ?

    That's insanity

  • i wanna know how the bar doesnt snap in half i mean look at how much the fucking thing bends. insane.

  • that was crazy

  • What is the name of this song?

Ed Coan, is the biggest ever.!

  • that guy is only 5'6" and he kicks ass!

  • They are kilo plates... The bar plus collars should be 25 kg. Then it's probably three 50 kg plates followed by 25, 10, 5, and 1.25 kg plates. That adds up to 407.5 kg, which later weighed out a little heavy at 901 lbs.

But whether or not my plate breakdown is correct, it's definitely 901.

  • I didn't know if they were using 100 pound plates or the 50kg plates.

  • That is USPF National Championship footage. It was 901 for sure, they weighed the bar and plates after the lift. Even "800 or so" would be amazing at 220.

  • @zztoproadster Why dont you look at the record books dumb ass.?

  • Ed Coan making the greatest deadlift in history! And he did this 901 @ 220 in 1991 ! ! ! He was, and perhaps will always be, the greatest powerlifter ever.

  • i agree !!!

  • @mnstrmnd sure, but if i did not beat him. Haha joke, he is the greatest!

  • Comment removed

  • The man's a fucking machine no question. The best powerlifter of ALL time, also no question.

But I've got to admit that music that is played at meets gets on my fucking tits.

  • Kazmaier himself called him the best of all time; agreed.

  • indisutably the greatest lift of all time

  • arguably the greatest deadlift in history.

  • A true hero and one of the reasons I started power lifting.

  • Ed coan reckons that if he hadn't suffered a major injury to his hips and had continued to lift sumo style for the rest of his career he would've perhaps lifted 950lbs (.. Given that he lifted 860 at 200 and 900 at 220, I think 950-1000lbs at 240 seems plausable!

  • If Ed were competing in double ply and using a monolift,I guesstimate that he would have squatted 1150 benched 750,deadlifted over 900..

  • Assuming that he was willing to learn his bench shirt. You're right about the squat and deadlift, but bench shirts are another animal. I wore a squat suit once and squatted 80 pounds over my max in the first workout, but I can't even bench my RAW max in a shirt because the groove is so weird.

  • Are you sure it isn't something technical that you did?

  • I guaruntee it was something technical (I tucked it too hard because it wouldn;t come down), but that's kind of what I'm saying. Any idiot can put on a suit and gain a 50 pound minimal PR in their first workout, but shirts are on another planet as far as making them work.

  • A-W-E-S-O-M-E !!!!!

  • amazing

  • I really appreciate the nice comments. This is my girlfreind's account. I'm just stopping in to say thank you!!

  • I've looked for this evrywhere!! Thank you dude! The most legendary deadlift ever! Four times body weight RAW in nothing buy a singlet!

  • Probably the best lift in the history of the sport

  • yes for sure, ed coan the unbelievable.

    it looks so easy.

  • ed coan rules for eternity...

  • i have this whole meet on dvd, so i do have his 3rd attempt and his first attempt w/ 837 that was so incredibly fast, itd make u sick. I just have NO CLUE how to get it on the computer

  • google how to rip a DVD. I'd love to see his lifts from that meet. Once its ripped you can use Windows Movie Maker.

  • what was his 3rd attempt?

  • 920

  • thanks

  • Most impressive lift ever, by far. He had 7 huge lifts before that, and did it at 220 in a singlet. Not even the Russians come close.

  • Awesome! Is it raw?

  • Yes.

  • @cepoctb ya he trains much different than the good ol russians to

  • i am in love with this man!

  • unbelievable!! is there a vid of his third attempt too?

  • Maybe, but I don't have video of it.

  • The best powerlifter the world has ever seen! The guys an Icon!
