I'm wondering about something here. Do restaurants have a stockpile of New Coke still? Because when I order a Coke , It doesn't taste anything like Coke! It tastes more closer to a Pepsi.

@raezer No, the recipe was locked away forever and they never made new coke again. People were outraged about them changing the taste and New Coke was a bust.  Restaurants just water it down in the drink fountain which is why it tastes different from a bottle you buy at the store.

I was 10 and a Pepsi drinker at the time. I now only drink Coke. If a resturant only has Pepsi, I'll order a Sierra Mist. New Coke is recognized as the single largest maketing blunder of the 20th century. It even beat out the Ford's Edsel (which everyone hated at the time but now go for $60,000 - $80,000 restored.)

New Coke = Yecccch...my recollection...eating at a nice restaurant, Coke tasted awful. I complained to the waiter , "This is flat and too sweet"...he said, "It's New Coke, get used to it"...and much rejoicing when "Coke Classic" came out.

Dang shit, all that happened was coke accidently mixed up a huge batch of some not so good product. So instead of takin' a dang loss on this shit, some marketing genius figured a way to hock it to us poor saps while simultaniously creating a demand for the old coke. New Coke sucked it was horrible and they knew it- it was a scam to greatly increase demand for the original by basically eliminating the supply- you couldn't buy original nor classic coke anywhere; all there was was this New Coke crap that sucked for about two months- then when Coke Classic finally came out we all ran to it like junkies needing a fix.

Coke Co.was 1 yr.from their 100th Anniversary when they made this very stupid move.Imagine the multi millions lost in 100th Anniversary merchandise & memorabilia.They later re-introduced the 'old' coke.Idiots,all they had to do was wait 1 yr.& simply boost how they marketed it.
