I always wonder. When using the money clip, where do you put your loose change? Do you have it rattling in your front pocket?
I'm Belgian, and maybe this is rather a European problem. In America you have one dollar bills. In Europe we have one euro coins and two euro coins. So we Europeans probably have to deal with coins more than Americans have to.
@eliotsijmijnck Far more. I'm an American immigrant to Ireland, and I was immediately struck with how much change is used here. I am still trying to figure out a good way to manage it all comfortably.
@siremethmimetes See my reply to @eliotsijmijnck -- there's not a lot you can do except keep the coins and anything else they can rattle against separate, and try to spend them or convert them ASAP!
@eliotsijmijnck Agreed -- this is a bigger problem in Europe than in the US! I'd keep the wallet/money clip and the change in separate pockets so they aren't clinking against one another, and avoid the temptation to put the coins in one of those zippered pouches that some wallets have. That'll add way more bulk than you want!
@nitnit182 Same advice as everyone else, really -- you'll maybe have just one or at most two credit cards, plus the usual IDs and a student ID, and probably a lot less cash than you'd like. Can't think of any specific college needs that'd be bulking the wallet out too badly.
I carry about the same stuff, but I like the business card ideas, I thought about carrying them once whenever I meet new people because it seems like a good way to give information, but I just thought I was weird for wanting to do it because I'm not a businessman
@BodaciousBryce I started with a stack of really basic ones from Kinko's back when I first began writing, and I've never regretted having them. Glad the tip helped!
