Yeah a few mistakes, but I listen to the original all the time and there is one part where he makes a mistake, it's very hard to hear but it's there. Even still you are an amazing pianist, I'm just starting to learn this song myself by ear, how long did it take you to learn it? So i can have a goal to beat :P haha just kidding but I would like to know. Overall you played extremely well, have you taken lessons in the past? or did you teach yourself? It was a while ago when I learned this by ear, but I remember it not taking too long because once you have the basic melody down, it becomes easier. I literally played the song over and over, stopping at problem spots. This video is truly a "rough draft"...I need to post an updated version because I now play it as closely as I can to the way that Elijah Bossenbrock plays. I have taken some lessons in the past, but am mostly self taught.

Wow! I wish I could play the piano like that my little sis can and I love just sitting and listening to her play :) It's a timeless gift you can play the piano forever, unlike everything else. You can become too old to play soccer or run track but not to play the piano. Good Job!

I think that learning a piece by ear is a better experience than reading sheet music because it feels like a greater accomplishment whenever I do.

And then there is always someone who is astounded when they hear it, so that's a nice feeling, too. =)

Yeah I have, but only for the first part where it comes in. The pattern goes like this all the time: A, E, A, C, A, E x2 and then

F, C, F, A, F, C x2 then

C, G, C, D, C, G x2 and

G, D, G, B, G, D x2. It goes like this all the time and hits at the same time with every key in the right hand. There are minor changes later on in the melody, but i think you can figure it out. And try to look at this vid too, it helped me a lot. Write again if you have problems. :)

By ear - as far as I know, there is no sheet music yet. This is not note for note of course :) an improved version hopefully will follow (and is a work in progess!)
