  • Were sound affects added to this? When he hits the plastic helmet you can hear a plastic CLUNK noise. (I'm not talking about his breathing) He's not really hitting that helmet with his bare fist is he?

  • @lauraleesmithagain

No sound effects are added.. Sensei is really hitting the helmet.

    ;)

  • Against someone that atleast had good boxing, would knock him out real fast...

Keeping your hands at your hips like that leaves you so very open. you might as well ask them to punch you in the face!

  • you beastin my g u mad fast son you would merk dem ulgy mma fighterz man peacez (XDARKSNIPERSZ OUT)

  • its quite common in the southern chinese martial arts .

  • Yet I would put my money on Master Higa against any MMA style, provided there are no rules. Most MMA events have a lot of rules.....

  • Good for many years ago but they are to slow and outdated for modern methods like boxing, kickboxing or MMA styles.

  • to slow?! they are just showing the tecnique. not doing it for real.

  • IMHO , these are just examples of the small percentage of techniques being taught and used.

For every technique there is a counter.

For every counter there is a flaw.

This goes for each and every movement.

As for the style , this is Okinawan Kempo and not Karate-Do. Karate have too many branches , splits and styles meanwhile his Okinawan Kempo is true to its roots.

Whatever the case , it is an interesting study material for fellow students and friends in the martial arts circles.

  • Okinawa Kenpo is a way of life, and not a sport. It is very traditional, as you point out.

  • i said spot not sport...

  • ermmm attack using full facing body...very dangerous...what if his enemy counter attack him?too many and too easy target spot...

  • You have to remember that Master Higa has been doing this his whole life.

This demo was to demonstrate the various striking techniques in Okinawa Kenpo, and their appropriate targets.

  • ddid he hit him at the balls at 12 sec?

  • Yes. Very Common.
