I just saw this movie in 3D yesterday, it was excellent. Great story, great special effects and great message. unfortunately, it is the kind of message that always gets lost, because if we were to ever make contact with other intellgent life out there, you know our wonderful governments would try to take whatever they can from them.

Although I really liked the movie, I do see your point about predictability. I would have liked to have seen a lot more character development. A struggle of the main actor's loyalty to humans and to the Na'vi would have been appropriate. Also did he not have any guilt about having the Nav'i female fall for him when he knew that he was really a human and she was relating to his "avatar"? An explanation of why the human battle commander was such a murderous bastard would have been good.

That is a simplistic view of battle commanders. In reality while they may have kill and crush the enemy in order to win the battle, they generally do not take delight in doing so. This guy reveled in the death and destruction he caused. Why was that so? Psychopaths are usually weeded out (or put into suicide missions!!!) before they get to that level of command.

Totally agree. I hated this movie too. Very dull, too long, very predictable and very unoriginal. It was a movie that attacked modern technology yet used the latest technology to make. It was also a 3D movie with very two dimensional characters. Pure hype and this film has been constantly over promoted by companies such as McDonald's. Many critics loved it but quite a few did not including the one from Melbourne's Age newspaper. I don't see what all the fuss is about sadly :( Great video though.
