does anybody know what the pedal is at 0.03 that simon steps on in the close up. it looks black and its definately boss which would suggest the mt2 (which hes well documented as using) but the sound doesnt sound particularly "metalzone-ish"

any clues?

@jakesdaddy08 I think it's still the MT-2.. just setup differently. The only other distortion pedals boss do that are coloured black are the ST-2 and the ML-2

@stuartallford Tell you what 9 times out of 10 it's fucking boiling on stage mate. My band, we play to small groups of people in little venues with like maybe 4 or 5 lights on the rig and as soon as you step up there you sweat. Before you even move you sweat. And we move around a lot like Biffy do so my the end of like the second tune we're drenched. Now you can see why Simon Neil is topless a lot of the time on stage lol!

because Machines is clearly about a personal death (and to Simon the singer it surrounds the death of his Mother) and the lyrics do make sense.

They're called metaphors man, less obvious lyrics sometimes are better, sometimes not. In Simons case, he seems to enjoy writing this way, I enjoy hearing it. To me it's not hard to understand what he's singing about really.

I'm sure if you asked simon what they meant it would click and make perfect sense. Also the ambiguity in the lyrics could be for a reason. And it means the song is open to the listeners individual interpretation.
