  • For me, the Disabled 2x VST Plug-in paths >.< FUCK! What do I do now?

  • @RealMusicHDTV What's your issue?

  • my steinberg folder was in the normal program files, not program files (x86).

I installed the 64bit version of cubase as I have a 64bit system.

Is the steinberg folder in the wrong place?

  • @DurnoldDuke1 No. If you installed 64-bit Cubase it should show up in the normal program files as that folder is respective to all 64-bit applications.

  • great vid - thank you

  • you said that the vst2 folder is installed with Cubase right?, but i cant find the folder anywhere! it may be that my version is cracked but surely all the folders will still be installed?

  • @WeDgEMuSiK C:\Program Files (x86)\Steinberg\VstPlugins is your main plugins directory, it's what you should use.

  • Thanks. That was clear and concise.

  • Hi, so I installed a vst.. put the dlls in the folder and nothing shows up in my inserts? What do?

  • @TeddyBakesher try the other method mate :)

  • yo! can we get more cubase videos like if u get a project to mix , u should do it live!

  • Your a fucking superhero man!!

  • GO TO HELL

  • @indiantv100 Why, thank you.

  • @dangerale Hey Dude! Like your Vid! I've got a weird problem! I've installed VST plugins andplaced them in the right folders and so on! Didn't know till I saw your Vid that I could install it directly to the VST2-folder - I might try that! My problem is that Cubase doesn't find some of the .dll files though they're placed in the same folder as those .dll files that Cubase DO find! CB finds for example WaveShell-VST 5.9.5.dll but not WaveShell-VST 5.2.dll... What should I do? Thanks!

  • You are the shit man !!!! Respect !

  • Can someone help me with setting up Cubase le 5 on my computer I tried everything the e- licence is not giving me a product number to use and register cubase am using the zoom h4n recorder can someone help me pls

  • Hey thanks! I was having problems with kontakt 4 and helped me ! thumbs up :)

  • do i have to instal vst first????

  • @ROCKERSLASH1 Obviously...

  • when i press update nothing happens with guitar rig 5,it only works with GUITAR RIG 4 (which i only have the DEMO version),what is happening ? i just want to use G:RIG 5 with my CUBASE,could be that i have Cubase LE 4 ???????? i´m getting crazy

  • thanks a lot lot it helped a noob like me a lot

  • it all worked perfectly but for some reason when i open up my vst cubase crashes any ideas?

    awsome tutorial btw

  • does this work for all vst'S?... I have a autotune vst i want to use but it works in fl...

  • Thanks nice and quick explination

  • ive done all this before i installed massive fine and i hit reset by accident on my plugin paths, ive done everything else and ive done massives path and it still wont recongise it anymore. FUCK im so pissed off because ALL of my basslines are based around using massive and ive lost everything without it mann:'(

  • Thank you so very much! You skipped all the bullshit everyone else was doing. I just could not get it for the life of me. Its so simple, wish stienberg had support that was worth dick.

  • @hamersmashed No problem man. And yeah I know what you mean; Steinberg support = poop.

  • thanks

  • Really helpful video, thanks man

  • can u let me no where to get free vocal vsts i got cubase le5

  • A great thing to mention with this video is DO NOT use Cubase' ASIO DirectX driver, use the regular ASIO because the latency on the VST's is a huge pain.

  • duuude thanks so much!! i couldn't manage to add some new plug-ins I had before watching this!

  • i want to use guitar rig 4 as vst. i installed it in vstplaguin folder, but then u told me cubase had its own. so i cut the dll file and installed it in the cubase vstfolder. but still guitar rig 4 doesnt show up. any ideas?

  • @aldosalomoni If you don't modify anything in the installation of the VST such as the installation path then it should automatically install the to VSTPLUGINS folder that cubase looks for by default. It's not hard, might be tedious at times, but not hard.

  • do you know where to find the de noiser?

  • Man My computer doesn t read my plug ins...what's happened?

  • i've got a problem.

    after following every step,

trying both ways cubase can still not find guitar rig.

i have restarted cubesa and even restarted my computer and still nothing shows up.

    please help!

  • @Muskotnoten That means that the guitar rig DLL file exists in more than one location. Try wiping guitar rig completely from your computer, as well as searching for the DLL files on your hard drive and deleting them, then install again. Try also C:/Program Files(x86)/Common Files/Native Instruments/Guitar Rig 4

  • hey bro thanks for the video..i fixed up another vst ihave but ican;t fine out my guitar rig plug in...any help?

  • @beckersteen21 When all else fails do a windows search for "Guitar Rig 4.dll" or whatever version of GR you have.. If the search finds one found within the same folder as Guitar Rig.exe, copy that DLL and paste it in your custom VST folder, or default steinberg folder which I've shown you how to get to in the video. No probs.

  • I'm entirely new to this whole music production thing, so my question might come off as stupid. Anyways, I have cubase 5, and ive just downloaded Massive. Basically, I want to use massive with cubase, but massive will never show under the vst intruments. How can I get cubase to read the massive ive downloaded? Can you explain to me what to do? Im not familiar with some music terms, so if anyone could dummy it down for me it'd be awesome! ty!

  • @BleetRamsey Make sure you've included the VST option upon Installing Massive. By default it should go to the VST folder that steinberg pre-installs, but if not- copy the *.dll file within the Massive folder in your program files and put it in your own VST folder. I can't remember if Massive comes as 64-bit, but I know there will be a problem if you're trying to use a 64-bit VST with 32-bit Cubase. Hope that helps a bit.

  • Thank you so much! After 20+ minutes trying to figure this out with cubase's manual, you solved it in 2!

  • This is very very helpfull for me... Thanks a lot...

  • thnx man .. very helpfull video

  • . thank u

  • Thnx much man. That was easy!

  • I have a problem, i got guitar rig 4, and i can choose it on Insert, but i can't get any sound through it, i can't even record with the standard guitar sound from my Stealthplug soundcard, i can play and record in guitar rig alone but i can't record anything in cubase 5, WHAT SHOULD I DO PPL? :( :(

  • @IAmDeathknight You must make sure the correct input is selected in cubase, and that the track is monitor enabled. If you're getting signal in the mixer (F3) on the far left, you know your device is selected. The monitor enable button should be located to the right of the record enable button in the arranger.

  • @dangerale OKay, i will try that, thx for the reply :)

  • thank's a lot ;)

  • i already have guitar rig 4 pro but this dont work as a plugin...i need to install another guitar rig with the vst option??

  • @LordMangaka You will definitely need to install with VST checked during the installation process. Once finished, it should be already installed into Cubase 5 if the VST is found in C:\Program Files\VstPlugins

  • Fixed the problem... its all working.... got the 64 bit version ...cheers for all your help and support.... many many thank yous...

  • @richardinthedisco hahah! well there we go. No problem dude.

  • dude... honestly... we have scoured programfiles ( not x86) and we cannot find any native instrument files in there. BUT i did find the native instruments folder, with guitar rig 4 folder in it in...the c drive / users / documents folder... is this correct? is this where we need to cut and paste guitar rig 4 folder from and too the desktop?

sorry about our aussie dumbness haha

  • something else... on the xp installs... in the components / products tab, i have ' gr factory selection - gr le - gr pro - gr 4 essentials... ' on the windows 7 install - in the components / products tab i have - guitar rig pro snd mmm fire / reflektor and traktors 12 ' im about over it now haa

  • @richardinthedisco I think I found the solution! Okay.. Go to [C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments] and cut and paste the Guitar Rig 4 folder to desktop, then uninstall. Before you reinstall this time, go to [C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Native Instruments] (notice it's x86 this time) and paste the Guitar Rig 4 folder in there, then install. If the Native Instruments folder in [Program Files (x86)\Common Files\] doesn't exist, create it. See if this works.

  • @dangerale If you get me, I think the problem is that Guitar Rig 4 has a little bug on 64-bit systems because windows creates two program files folders. SO while the GR4 installs in the normal program files, it actually looks for the presets in the x86 version, if that makes any sense.

  • @dangerale i will give it ago and let ya know bud

  • @dangerale ok... this is what i found - my files are not exactly where you indicated that they may be...this is where they are ------ program files (x86) \ steinberg \ vstplugins \ native instruments \ guitar rig 4 ------ on install this is where it chose to install it automatically ---- in this guitar rig 4 folder it contains the following-documentation - gr4.dll file - gr4 application and gr4 uninstall.

  • @dangerale ALSO - in program files(x86) commonfiles \ native instruments \ guitar rig 4 ---- this folder contains the following --- all the presets and content... so for me to follow your instructions was a little difficult as the files were not exactly where you said for me to follow. Hope this helps and we can sort it out...i do appreciate your help and interest man...

  • @richardinthedisco The presets, by default, won't be in (x86), they'll be in your normal program files folder. And yes, you should copy the entire guitar rig 4 folder and create the similar path (except in the x86 folder).

  • whats even stranger, i installed guitar rig 4 on 3 of my pc's. all with xp 32 bit system...and each time i installed it, they asked if i wanted to import guitar rig pre sets and each one succesfully did this. My laptop, 64 bit system running windows 7 ...did not and will not import these... sux

  • tried a complete new install on another of my pcs and it worked fine... so now i will try on my windows 7 laptop see what happens this time

  • thanks again man but no go.... even doing just one at a time waited ages ( half an hour ) and nothing came in and programme did not lock up either... might remove guitar rig totally and then re install ... see if that helps.. cheers

  • mate... tried it... dragged the gr files the .ksd file over to guitar rigs browser page.. to the bottom left preset name box and nothing happens... maybe doing something wrong... dont know what its pretty simple i think??

  • @richardinthedisco Yeah, it takes quite a longgg time for it to import all at once. The guitar Rig will lock up but wait it out for a while.

  • thanks for your prompt reply... much appreciated... got all that ... just one question to confirm with you...i have seen those rack pre sets... when you say take them and drag them into guitar rig.... do you mean while it is open in cubase or open the guitar rig programme alone and drag them in that way??? also do you mean just drag and drop into the preset coloum in guitar rig??? thanks bud...all the way from australia...

  • @richardinthedisco yeah no probs. Just open the stand-alone app and drag them into 'presets' at the bottom left. Should work out that way. Once they're in there they should be in GR4 in Cubase.

  • also my vst 2 folder appears to be in a different place than on your video.. ? also on my oold pc i did not need to drop the guitar rig folder into any other folders as in your video ...is it essential to do this in window 7 for cubase 5... hope i have not confused you too much and cheers and thanks very much man

  • @richardinthedisco You won't find D:\APP\VST anywhere because It's my own folder. Guitar rig automatically installs VSTs into program files\vst plugins.

And I know about the preset issue. It's the way it installs sometimes.. If you go into [C:\Program Files\Common Files\Native Instruments\Guitar Rig 4\Factory Presets\Rack Presets] you'll find all the presets there. Take those files and drag them into guitar rig and wait (takes a while) the only thing is that you lose the categories.

  • dangerale great vid and many thanks to you.... BUT.... and yes there is always a but...or butt...mate i did very meticuously follow your tuition....2 things... when i drop the .dll file into my old pc... running xp and cubase 4le edition... the whole guitar rig is there and working...especially all the cool factory pre sets....BUT in cubase 5 running on an I5 laptop with windows 7 and a 64 bit version... guitar rig does not appear with all those great presets... just all the amps and heads etc..

  • thank you very much.

  • i did all the same things he did in the video but for some reason i cant get maschine to come in as a vst plugin

  • @beatz32 make sure there aren't multiples of the same dll in different folders.

  • @dangerale Ok thanks ill try that also just curious in the steinberg folder that says shared components its empty and its wierd when i click update vst information it doesnt do anything then when i click update it moves like it updates but doesnt my guitar rig4 shows up in the vst info but doesnt show up when i try to use it as a plug in ??

  • great vid thanks...i have just got into cubase after 7 years and am doing pretty good with it..i have been downloading vst, vsti and dropping them in the program file folder..some of them show up and some dont...and things are getting a bit messy and i need a good clearout but am confused about what goes in which folders.. i have cubase 5 and the folders i hav are vst, vsti, vst2, vst3 and then i have the compressors and all that stuff....i need to know what goes where if you can help. THANKS

  • @richpickins Technically, you don't really need sub-folders. Cubase looks into the subfolders anyways but if it's easier to just drop them in one VST folder that you have set, then do it that way- it's no different. I just happen to have a bunch of subfolders in my VST Directory because that's how they all install anyways. Hope that helps.

  • very helpful
