  • Eugene Ysaye(1858-1931)

was one of the Greatest violinist who ever lived.

Superd playing!!! Thank you sobie99 for sharing.

  • Thank you! There is a special interest, I feel, in hearing Ysaye play Kreisler, since Ysaye is often considered as the nearest precursor to Kreisler's own blend of elegant precision and romantic sentiment. His strongly-characterised treatment of the opening motif reminds me of Till Eulenspiegel in Strauss's tone-poem.

  • magnificent playing -- incredible intonation, and what a wonderful vibrato -- focussed, surprisingly narrow, and sweet! Not to mention everything else musically....

  • Oh wow, this man is just amazing, a true master, playing the composition of yet another true master. And I'd say it's one of the more interesting recordings I've ever heard.

  • Masterly exquisite playing, but the begining tempo was somewhat laggard.

  • thanks to YT for the ability to hear these great old recordings by these great musicians

thanks to the poster as well - sobie99

  • This is a good example of a phenomenal performer playing mediocre music.

  • i agree with you about the phenomenal performer (of course) but in my opinion kreisler's short compositions are exasmples of mediocre music at all.

they're a mix between virtuosism and grace. I'd like to listen to the compositions of yours and compare them

  • i meant "are not examples of mediocre music"

  • @wks1978 This is a good example of a "youtube-expert"s stupid comment...

  • He start's so out of tune...and the rest is nothing special.

  • hes not out of tune....its called an old recording

  • @jasonform its the recording

  • sobie 99,Thank You for posting this great piece by a

    wonderful artist. most enjoyable.

  • he's so good, he doesn't have to move to play.

  • HAHAHAAHA

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

  • he played it so slow

  • Why, listen to Kreisler himself playing this piece, just a little faster.
