because patti started in the late 50s she is known as one of the greatest singers of all time only reason she isnt know massively outside the usa is her music is not pop therefore none mainstream im from the uk and i remember patti was big here in the 80s and he songs are still played today she had one of the biggest disco hits ever with lady marmalade and one of the biggest duets ever with on my own also made history as the first blk group to play at the New York's Metropolitan Opera House

i dont understand honestly.. like, prince ruled the 80's, mariah ruled the 90's, why do they both stand there and honour a woman whos hardly been heard of outside america.. :S

Because they simply luv her ... miss Patti is like their mother. Miss Patti is so humble ...

And by they way Patti Labelle is one of the greatest singers ever ... and she was giving stellar perfomance even before Prince and Mariah were born!
