  • The line betwen long bows and recurves is fuzzy. You can put static recurve tips on a long bow. You can varry the amount of curve or the concentration. I'd say that is a static recurve. Check the Primitive Archery Magazine web site, there are several build a longs for bows just like that.

That said. Sweet bow and great shooting. Clean em out!

check out my video on the wooden bowfishign spools and bows I make!

  • Nice!

  • your a good shot mate! but i would say that's a recurve (even though it looks a lot like a longbow) becasue the string touches the limbs.

  • GOOD JOB!!!!

  • nice, that's some good eatin

  • that looks like a recurve

  • What kinda reel?

  • fun in the sun

  • that kid gettin pretty good at that , that looks fuckin fun!! Check out my channel!! we catch lots of fish too!!

  • Bro, Great video... The bow you have there is not a longbow.. But a 1950's Bear static recurve.... I have a few of the same bows from the same time as your... There great shooting bows and very fast shooting....

    Great shooting

    >>>---------->

    Cody

  • this is not a long bow--it is a nigerian recurve used primarily for carp.

  • Why don't you people just go outside and play a game of hide and go fuck yourself!!

  • That is very much not a long bow.... but I dont get why you dont just accept it and admit to it. I don't think anyone is bashing your skills, just your choice of words. You nailed the fish so grats.

Longbows are LONG. Recurves are shorter and the tips, well, they curve back the opposite direction. I'm thinking that whoever sold it to you, lied, if you think it's a longbow. Or you're just ig'nrt.

  • do you eat carp?

  • Killing for fun ssux!

  • No argument on the name of the bow. I was just commenting on the argument of what type of bow it is. A simple search can inform you of the requirements on a longbow, flatbow, recurve, and reflex-deflex. The ends curving away from the handle is a recurve type design. I still think it was some good shooting. No one is doubting the name on the bow.

  • The name said longbow but thats just the name. It is a recurve type bow. English bows are made in the "D" fashion while flatbows (another type of longbow) is tappered and flattened. No matter what type bow he is using it is some nice shooting.

  • @Faustau69 The name says longbow because it is a LONGBOW. Bear Grizzly longbow with static tips to be exact. :)

  • @redbone86 my God people!!!!!!! It's a LONGBOW!!!!!!! ends curve AWAY from the archer, the handle is /pretty/ distinct, which it shouldn't be on a longbow!!!! And, most importantly, that things like a 4-foot wimp of a bow. That is a recurve, or as blorchdude4 says specifically (and it sounds like he has some experience with bows) a reflex deflex(which it probably is). Longbows were taller than most of the archer that carried them. this one reaches his head barely when its above the ground

  • As far as I can see, that doesn't look like a long bow...

  • @NordicAspect Why?

  • @redbone86 Longbow, atleast traditionally, is carved out of a single piece of wood and that looks like composite. Also lb should be much...well longer.

I don't know what the definition is in the States (if that's filmed there), but that wouldn't go as a longbow in the UK.

  • @redbone86 Cos Its Not Long? : D

  • @redbone86

it looks like a static recurve to me, but if the strings not touching the belly of the bow then its a flatbow

  • @redbone86 yeah, that looks like a recurve to me, but still nice shootin!

  • @NordicAspect traditional english longbows did have recurves you know-to give them speed as well as american longbows

  • sorry thats not a longbow,but anyway,great fishing!

  • @LALAKIStro Like shit it's not. It's a Bear Grizzly LONGBOW with static tips.

  • @redbone86 hey dude,as long as its belly is flatenned,i dont think it can be called a longbow.also,a longbow isnt a composite like this, with recurved tips.however,i believe ya since im not an expert and i dont like being annoying.

  • @LALAKIStro uh.......in what world isn't that a long bow

  • @Carpshooter44 its way too short,it has recurved tips,do y really now how a longbow is.go check sime english ones

  • @Carpshooter44 its also flattened, while longbows are more cylindrical

  • @LALAKIStro You every think that maybe all longbows aren't the same. That there are different styles out there.

  • @redbone86 hmm i am going to agree with you,im convinced that there are variations of longbows, world is huge anyway!sorry for the trouble

  • thats not a longbow,sorry

  • burn in the hell WMG !!!

  • @ heeroyuy11

Not all longbows are english longbows.

    Thats the one you mean.

English longbows are usually from one piece of wood ( though they laminate them aswell ).

"Normal" laminated longbows ( which kinda look like a flatbow ) are from America.

And they're called longbows cuz theyre.. well... long.

But what you mean is an English longbow.

Theyre both long, just different background. And theyre both longbows. :)

  • wer are you?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! i bowfish all the time we never even see that many

  • Class bit of shooting, how do you know where about to shoot and release the arrow?

  • thats a recurve.you dummy

  • @gatorman161 No, It's a Bear Grizzly longbow with static tips

  • @redbone86 actually it looks more like a flatbow to me ppl mistakenly lable all wooden bows longbows but a longbow is made from a single peice of wood yours is clearly a composite

  • @heeroyuy11 say what you want. but the guy shooting that bow has shot a long bows since he was able to pull one back. i think he knows what he is talking about.

  • @redbone86 well it depends really on how you go about making definitions..

but as i understand a longbow traditioally has been distinguished from a flatbow by having the D shaped cross section of the limbs,

thats how i understand it anyway.

  • @gatorman161 your dumb thats not a recurve idiot look up what makes a recurve a recurve and a REFLEX DEFLEX a REFLEX DEFLEX until you get your facts stright go fuck yourself dumbass

  • stick em!!! try shooting frogs with a bow. just about as hard. shot over 15 times int he past week and only got 3 frogs.

  • nice bow:-)

  • You have to pressure cook them and then fry them like salmon patties. But too much trouble for me. Carp sure are fun to catch, though. Either with rod or bow. But for eating...I will stick to the channel catfish and the crappie.

    Peace

  • I`m going to try that in my sisters fishpond! She has some big goldfish in there!

  • Nice video. Some people don't realize that carp, gar, and other invasive fish (trash fish) destroy the habitat of popular game fish.

  • i bet they taste like shit...

  • I was always told the way you fix carp to eat is take a piece of hickory and season it good. cook the carp on it. then take the carp throw it away and eat the wood. haha

  • @rstroup10 -thats about the way it is when it cums to eatin carp or gar.....

  • damn u have a nice shot

  • Like you Video, please take a look at my free interactive Archery website, become a free member!

  • I agree about cleaning the garbage fish (and non indigenous species) out of the waterways to make room for the indigenous species. I have heard though that the carp are edible if the water is clean. If this isn't true then they must make darn good fertilizer for the veggie garden!

  • sorry i dident know??

  • these fish are causing serious problems in the midwest. Asian and Silver carp make up probably millions of pounds of organic matter that should be found in indigenous species. The sturgeon and paddlefish are being pushed out by these rat-fish. Catching and killing the fish isn't just acceptable it's necessary. Please kill all the Asian and Silvers you catch

  • I will anthrax1218 as long as you get me out of jail for genocide..

  • @anthrax1218 in australia down at the murray it is illegal to let a carp go in the water if you catch one.

  • @anthrax1218 if only Hitler hated carp

  • @anthrax1218 better yet,eat them for they provide good meals P:

  • must be fun to fish that way :D

  • i bowfish and it helps keep the bad fish out and lets the gamefish populate so it keeps the fish stable

  • Grear job on them carp, the best way to get rid of them fish is take some kids bowfishing buy them bows make them bows or barrow some bows the trick is get them interested in bow hunting I just got my self 5 recruits that will be slinging arrows at them, dan

  • damn dude you got some serious skill. i wanna try that! lol i've only done archery for a day. practice makes perfect lol.

  • how do u catch the fish and how long did it take

  • wow... they obviously shoot them with an arrow tied to a string...

  • what s the point of catching them if u can t eat them ?

If u cought them alive u could put them into clean water for a couple of days and them kill them.

  • @rekycheky what would be the point of that....

  • Comment removed

  • nice. try it off shore next time i think its better than in a boat personally. nice vid tho.

  • i wouldnt recommend eating them based purely on how they smell

  • nice video thanks. too bad they disabled the audio track.

  • proves its money they're after nothing else! they dont give a shit about your entertainment (point and case), just your wallet

  • what's the poundage of that bow?

  • Kill those egg suckers. Yes I have seen them doing just that, watching this big bass spawn. The white amour carp. TRASH!!! Hey not knocking the guys that eat them thats good too.

  • Me and some friends of mine start bowfishing around 9:00am and quit at 9:00pm when it gets too dark to see the fish in the water so I dont know if 30+ is that good. But I think thats pretty decent.

  • takin out the trash! Think of all the bluegill and bass eggs a carp sucks up in its lifetime.

  • nice

  • Common carp aren't native animals they derived from Europe. They also have a nasty impact on natives by eating their eggs and slowing their chances to reproduce. We Americans don't kill these animals for food because they taste terrible. However that doesn't mean you can't eat them. But if you got balls then eating carp isn't such a big deal. Gar on the other hand are much better tasting if you like lobster.

  • actually carp is a really good tasting fish

  • depends how u prepare them..mine tasted aaaawful the meat is so mushy blech

  • dang this guy is good, he got good aim

  • i wish this video still had the sound track its was quite fantastic

  • MyWereld

SO much for catch and release...

    -----------------------------------------------------------

dude if you ever had the chance to catch a fish that big that's not on your computer screen, then you will realize you don't have the throw them back every time you catch one. and they do taste quite nice.

  • mate this is awesome as fuck, can you buy specific arrows for bowfishing?

  • Yeah you can. They have little prongs on the end so the fish wont come off of the arrow when your reeling it in.

  • yep, local archery store should have em

  • At least kill the fish. They gonna die anyway afther they have been shot with a bow. Maybay you can try it with a rod the next time, more difficult for you, better for the fish....

  • You've obviously never tried to hit a moving underwater target from 5-20 yards away. Any schmuck can toss out a worm and hope for a bite.

  • Your a dipshit. How is fishing with a rod and reel even considered a sport? You fuckin set there with a worm on a hook and drink beer and then tug on the fuckin pole and reel it in.Thats not hard at all numb nuts. You actually takes skill to hit something thats moving under water with a bow and arrow.

  • shut the fuck up you faggot youve obviosly never been fishing at all you homo, ive bowfished too and its tough.

    think before you speak asshole

  • What the fuck are you talking about?I was saying that bowfishing is tough you butt fuck.

  • it is tough dude you have to have an "instinct" to excell at it . some guys do some dont. My nephews at this point suck at it , I am a master at it and have been doin it since the 70! Its a good thing bro! Takin out the trash!!

  • I agree man.Its really hard when your first starting out.The first time I went I only got like 2 or 3 gar and maybe 1 carp. Now I average at least 30+ fish every time.

  • If the population of fish in that lake is greatly affected by ur method of fishing and obviously not being able to survive after being shot at, u're gonna have some fun w/ greenpeace.

  • I think that he was fishing carp which are considered a pest in many places as they destroy the environment for the native fish. Infact i believe some states run competitions to encourage the bow hunting of them in order to protect the lakes and other species in them.

  • sure do, some even offer cash prizes

  • Carp are not native to North America. I seriously doubt Greenpeace would bother with a sport as small as this. not enough media attention for them. Besides these animals are severely impacting native fisheries. By out competeing native species for food and spawning habitat. Most all of the bowfisher man I know (100% of the ones I shoot with). Keep their kills durring the day and dispose of them off the lake. Nothing worse than walking along the lake shore a smelling dead and rotting carp.

  • Thats the whole point of shooting them with an arrow, they dont want them to survive dumbass. And no actually carp are over populated so think before you speak. And dont speak at all if your gonna say stupid hippie shit. Now go find a bridge with rocks at the bottom and jump off of it.

  • lol thats a hic if i ever saw one.

  • SO much for catch and release...

  • MyWereld (4 weeks ago)

SO much for catch and release...

You should not release carp anyhow because catching them is part of keeping their over population in check.

  • oh i remember someone always asks hope you ate those fish. Those Fish were always good to plant STUFF on, like natural miracle grow. As far as eating them We didnt eat shit but could sell them to black people in the 80's for dollar a fish , Yes the blacks ate those fish thanks to me, I put little black kids thruogh college on carp.lololo. dont tell anyone but the jews would eat those carp too, they just refused to pay for them or spent five minuts hagglin over 50 cents lololo

  • nice shot brings back memories and nice head shot its so much cooler when you do it with the long bow RESPECT THE LONG BOW THEY ALL CAME FROM the longbow

  • well happy fishing

  • PETA- People-Eating-Tasty-Animals

  • haha my gf was a PETA member, my EX girlfriend hahahahhaa

  • lol that's funny i dont care who u r!!!

  • Fuck greenies have their head up their asses!!

All the people who think this is inhumane or whatever are the same people who should be out their protesting about carp and how their should be concerted efforts to kill every last one to save the animals you guys like to hug.

PETA are the biggest bunch of militant hypocrites on the earth. Worst then any corporation or government.

If you support PETA, you obviously don't think for yourself.

  • wiw KnuckleBallz... you're a fucking retard.. nice grammar by the way...

  • hope he doesn't waste those fish

  • dumbass.. dont watch it if you dont want to see a garbage eating sludge ball get killed

  • That garbage eating sludge ball is a fish its like killing a kitty or a dog ... ... :S

  • actouly mam, its just like killing a fish. A fish that many people consider pest, like a misquato sorry about my spelling

  • Some very impressive shooting.

  • Use a atomic bomb! American style baby!

  • lol true

  • Looks like fun! you must be hungry cos it looks like you catch more fish than a trawler.

  • What a load of shit,if you are shooting pest fish like carp get them out of the water any way you can.Its illegal to release carp back into waterways over here. And for a start, headshooting hogs from long distance is not ethical. The margin for error is to big.Its humane to shoot from close range and KNOW you are hitting the spot required for a humane kill.Plus you dont head shoot pigs with a bow.Heart/lung shots are what is needed. You know fuckall about hunting from the sounds of your rantings.

  • shooting ducks and other birdies at long range is more fun and

it requires more skill than this...

  • fack off fish killers i love carps and jou shoot the carp death

  • wats tha song

  • lalalala by lalala

  • what was the draw weight on that bow

  • I don't know where you live but here in Indiana the DNR pays $1 a carp tail that you bring in...

  • haha boom head shot

  • Loads of fun. But, what are going to do with all those carp? We used to use the guts as catfish bait, but to hell with eatin'em!

  • bowned xD

  • Actually, that's not a longbow, it's a static recurve.

  • no one likes a smart arse

  • SKELETOR!

  • very good video I enjoy it.

  • Grate vid bro good music Keith Anderson is the shit

  • looks like asian carp

  • just comon carp way more fun to catch with a rod aseholes

  • Just as fun to shoot them as it is to catch them

  • nop with the rod, you give the fish a chance to survive. with the bow you kill it anyway...

    and thats bullshit.

  • wow, fuck off you fucking hippy, not everyone has the same opinion

  • "Whoever does not respect nature just like his own self, shall be vanquished by her."

This is hippie stuff? Well, even if it is, nature cant always eat the shit that man feeds her...

And still, shooting idle fishies from short range is just pointless.

Why dont you try to hit a bird or score a headshot on a wild hog from long range?

This'll show your real marksmanship skills.

  • honestly, i couldn't care less. everyone thinks different things are fun. who cares if it isn't hard? its still fun for them. tell the government to stop the polluting the factories if you care, don't go around ruining peoples fun.

  • i wish i could do something for it...

but mother earth will do it herself, i suppose.

    but then i'll be late.

  • lol

  • Carp are abundant (no excuse for waste though). Some thrive so well than harvest is necessary to keep them from degrading the habitat for other aquatic species. If you eat them, then I've got no problem with it.

  • yeah but some people just shoot them,

reel them up and only take pics of the

trophy. Wounding a fish for this reason is rediculous.

  • @gerjanplate Ignorant dick.

  • @gerjanplate sorry but bow fishin and spearfishin is 10 times funner

  • very nice video.

    I just have a question.

how do you determine the type of fish you are fishing from the boat?

I would like to practice this type of fishing, as it said another user, this type of fishing can be very useful if you are doing backpacking.

However, in my area there are 2 types (or more) of fishes that living in the same lake and from this 2 species one one can be fished using the bowfishing technique.

  • Bow fishing is just as good as fishing. a good way to hunt for fish when backpacking.

  • gonna be doing this with my 66# longbow (about 80lb at my draw) this summer for carp. should be a BLAST! that just a tape-on spool? 15 bucks?

  • you are good

  • thats pretty sweet especially with a long bow

  • nice shooting!!!

i shoot them and spear them with a spear i welded in shop class. i love to smoke them!

  • That's old-school there, with the spool. I love that longbow. I shoot a recurve myself. Keep it simple!!

    Nice shootin' bud!

  • those are some nice fish

  • Very Impressive. The light reflecting in the water would make this difficult especially from a long distance. Good skill.

  • impressive but i think thats not allowed because u are only allowed to hunt with bow in canada

  • Yeah cuz apparently us NS bowhunters can't tell the diff between a salmon and a shad in the water. Maybe they're right but the reality is, there aren't enough salmon in our rivers from what i've seen to make it an issue. You can bowfish in ontario though.

  • impressive but i think thats not allowed because u are only allowed to hunt with bow in canada

  • NICE!!!!!!!

  • omg thats skill

  • Actually it takes a lot of skill to hit a carp with a bow. The deflection of the water makes it hard to know where the arrow will hit.If ya don't like it tough, that's just how we roll.

  • fuk u u couldnt do this

  • that would be gread

  • carp are not ment for eating.. they are game fish and coy carp can go up to over 20 thousand pounds or 30 thousand dollers

  • yes nice video kill all the carp u can they are ruining lakes everywhere plz kill the carp

  • We pay a lot geting carp into our lakes..

if u have a lot of it, why not manage some catfish into the water-they'll clean it?!?

P.S.: we have many recipies how to cook carp. (and chineese people too)

  • finally someone who gets it

  • Carp actually taste alot like catfish you just have to know how to clean there mud line.

  • i tryed it once... there is that many tiny bones >.>

  • you gotta cook em on a board. Then you eat the board it taste better then the carp

  • ROFL touche xD
