Man living in the golden ages of america must of been awesome. It's pretty cool, the clothing style/attire of today is reverting back to the 50's preppy look. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a 50's cultural resurgence
That one at 2:30 has to be the most dangerous toy ever invented. I'd rather have my kid play Grand Theft Auto than running around playing that! My God! I know the regulations were different but who approved those things!?
They would pump this stuff on saturday morning during the cartoon hours :). every kid back then got up on saturday to watch cartoons till they had to go thru the saturday chore scene :D
I wish I could have grown up during the 30's-50's area. (avoiding the great depression of course) Things seemed so much more simple and friendly back then. It was the PERFECT balance of personality (friendliness), and technology. Nowadays, things are too fast, and too robotic. We are all turning into machines. Hateful, and selfish machines. We lost human respect and love. I am a 17 year old guy, and I really sometimes wish that I don't live in such a heartless age.
@xxxDrDEWofCovtownxxx I'm a 15 year old girl and I totally agree with you. I wish I had a time machine to go back because I love the 1950's based on what I know. :)

@49jubilee I know you made a legit comment but I have to spoil it.
They had lead in their toys asbestos in their ceilings and cars. Surface nuke testing from the U.S. and Russia meant everyone had nuclear particles in their skeletons.
Man, does this bring back memories. I had a Varoom motor on my bike. Everybody loved it. We spent hours playing operation. That had to be a big money maker.
i watched a few of these old 50s/60s toy commercial videos...i am only 21 but still find them interesting...but i didnt realize there was so many battery powered toys back then.....so i wonder if even then kids of the 50s would find wooden trucks plain or not...
wow. the subliminal messaging for Trouble starts at 7:25. Well it actually starts at the beginning of the trouble commercial. either way, jesus christ wow. ive always heard of that shit but i never believed any of it
@PowerGenerator1 - It was a way that the manufacturer had proof that you actually bought the cereal or what ever. If you could send in a box top then your parents actually bought the product.
The IDEAL toy factory in Queens, N.Y. is now an empty shell with a "For Rent" sign on the front, a mute testimony to the failed economic policies of several administrations. All over the Northeast, thousands of Americans had jobs which gave them stability and a little upward mobility. Now it's Wal-Mart or McDonald's, wit the ability to barely read and write...
I had Trouble. At first the pegs were wood. My sister and I took that game seriously. We would play it over and over to decide who would do the dishes for that week. Kohner isn't even around now, but Trouble is ! And where is Headache? Does any one remember Bess Myerson in the Fab commerical?

@tvdays Too bad there isn't another way to protect your stuff from those evil old tv commercial thieves. For Family TV/Movie Nights, we want to use some of these that don't have any added logos/credits.
As everyone who remembers television before they started incrementally slipping their station logos on top of our picture knows, it's far more enjoyable without the constant distraction.
Couldn't you just have your logo appear in the first 10 seconds and/or the last 10 seconds?
@tvdays I'm guessing you somehow located 16MM film reels of these commercials, and then had to telecine and color-correct them. It's not as if anyone had VCRs in the 60s. Thanks for sharing! (though it would be great if there were a way to buy logo-less ones.)
@TheGibbonsFamily They do that to keep people from stealing the video. Also it helps to keep the copy right nazi's from complaining to youtube and shutting the video down.
