@00Clank Ugh, now that's a tough question. Let's say that I see 2003 and 2010 as two different animes. They both have their pluses. 2003 have Ed stuck in our world, it have those funny-made homunculus. I really liked the concept. I just take it as an AU of the original manga story. 2010 on the other hand a much better character development, plot, music and yeah - it's canon. If not to mention that someone kicked God's ass in the end. But I would like _not_ to make preferences.

The 2003 anime overtook the manga about halfway through the series, so instead of making filler episodes the anime writers came up with a completely different plot. In the 2003 anime homunculi were created when someone tried to perform human transmutation. The homunculus created would take the form of whoever was meant to be revived.
