It seems that America was built on an empty belly and the fear of hunger, perhaps thats why Thanksgiving is so important. I'm just naive maybe but I thought it was built on Jefferson and others.... but really just hunger.

Tropic of Cancer was one of the all time great books I have read. Thanks Mr. Henry Miller. You are under appreciated in the world of literature.

Whew! I thought it was just ME that saw life this way. As a product of NYC since the early 70s I have to say I agree with Mr. Miller. It gets worse all the time. In ways you never expect it to. I never imagined that Brooklyn would become a viper's nest of greedy vanity cases like Beverly Hills. I was just getting used to living in a crack infested gangland. It sucked but at least I UNDERSTOOD it all. THIS crowd is more dangerous. No crackhead ever tried to evict me.
