El-p and def jux was using flammable ink pens underwater makin this sh!t ice cold boil over a hot stove, usin the art of i got you steamin mad froze!. Classic!
Finding this album was like opening up a musical wormhole for me. It brought down walls and expanded so many horizons. I didn't realize how deep hip hop or music in general could get. Granted, I was young at the time, but experiencing this masterpiece was a catalyst for so much in my artistic pursuits, that I'm thankful for the minds and voices that brought it into the world.
Whats wrong with "Timberland"? I'm pretty sure El-Dash would agree that Timbo was one of the most innovative producers in the history of hip hop music.
Not as innovative as El-P...but a beat like "Dirt Off Your Shoulder" was completely inconceivable before Timbaland. You can't really say that about too many producers.
Poor poor indie rap fans getting mad about people making money. You misinterpreted that funcrush shit.
I'm sorry, I love this album, but that is seriously one of the stupidest lines I've ever heard. Who the FUCK would assume he was talking about hair color? Christ.
@harimajer75 Well no fucking shit, Sherlock. Read my comment again - I said that in the context of his phrasing, no one would assume he was using the word "dye", therefore it's a lame pun.
el-p is this (sub)decade's rza. every beat is lightyears ahead and uncopyable, plus he's as productive as hell. the only thing that he (el-p) does wrong is rap over his own tracks, kind of like rza in his own era.
FO(4) SHELLIES RIPPED THRU HIS BELLY/blasted rite outside of mike's deli/dipped 2 tha telly/call my bird up on the celly/booby what/probly nuts/i walk strange/ntalk strange/long range sniper aim/swiss cheese ya brain..thats only like the 1st 20 seconds =/ hahah
Defjux, and in particular anything El-p is involved in, are light years ahead of the rest. These are the people hip hoppers should be looking to for inspiration not cunts like timberland or fifty spent.
@parkermunoz23 a lot of albums go hard. like MOP albums, but that still doesn't mean they ain't ignorant niggs rapping about the same shit all the time [and I love their music]. I think lyrics should still be the most important thing in rap.
@werabunny i know man, i was just saying that he used 50 as an example and i just said that his one album went hard. i'm all underground with the occasional mainstream.
@leostudzine Timbaland is the best example you can come up with? One of the most innovative and unique producers of the last two decades? I'm about 99% certain that El-P (like most people) acknowledge that Timbo's style was completely unprecedented when he came out. There aren't many hip-hop producers you can say that about, and even fewer that actually found a way to get the mainstream to accept their sonic innovation.
I know im really baked and all that, but is it just me hearing the old mac computer startup noise in this beat? If you're not sure what im talkin about its the noise exactly at 0:13
no joke wen i first listen 2 this dope track, i hopped on the ground an started 2 windmil, an ended up in a B-boy stance with indo smoke clouding tha air.... it was crazy foo
plus I can't understand how can people listen to so many repetitive shit, and sleep on this...c'mon, good hiphop isn't so hard to make [Little Brother for instance], but with some work and talent u can make miracles u can listen every week... =) like this
This shit is fucking dope yo.

I couldn't disagree more--EL-P is one of the best writers of his generation(if not the best) & The RZA had the illest voice in the WU.
