  • One question, Does it still work?

Great comparison video. Actually you can get this for a little cheaper than the logitech g27. I am pretty sure I will get this wheel. Thanks for the write up.

I posted the link without dots. for some reason you tube does not allow link sharing. w w w fanatec de

You can get it for 159 for the base model, plus shipping i think.

  • Fanatec... It is German and has the Porsche Logo on it.

  • This is the best review i could find, top job dude! It made me consider Fanatec wheel as a future purchase instead of G25. I've got a Thrustmaster i want to replace.

    Cheers

  • Just to point this out the Fanatec wheel has 3 force feedback motors.

  • i have the g25 and its really good, but the steering wheel for the 911 is better because it is bigger but the shifter on the 911 looks really cheap and flimsy like the bar will snap off.

  • i prefer the g25 because it's not only good the other thing is that it works on more consoles :)

  • G25 FTW! i really love it ;)

  • where can i order the fanatec porsche 911 the place i order from don't have it but that's the one my son wants HELP WILL BE APPRECIATED

  • I prefer the g25 over the 911 - the 911 wheel just looks too big and for me the g25 is easier to control.

  • now thats wat i call a review most people on here just leave us hanging and also just leave footage of them playin wit the steering wheel

  • i want that Fanatec wheel for the xbox360 the wheel cost 460 euro... to mutch for me.. please donate for me....

    Greetings Dirk van Dam

  • First I was spectral bout wheel, but Once the RS wheel comes out with new PEDALS I will buy it :).. I think March.. too bad you need to buy shifter separately.. I would need LONGER cable.

  • Excellent review.

In Australia, our shifter is on the left hand side of the wheel. Can the 911 shifter be used on the left hand side of the wheel?

    Thanks.

  • Yes

  • how much did you buy the fanatec one for???

    i herd its about £150

so i shall wait till the price goes down

  • the fanatec looks good, but id prefer the G25... the G25 doesn't have a lot of buttons on the wheel which to me is a good thing, it makes it look more realistic, plus the shifter of the G25 looks more realistic than the fanatec, even if it has less resistance...the wires are not that much of a problem to me, the pedals on the G25 also look more realistic, the clutch has good resistance and doesn't need anymore...etc. but thats just my opinion...great review btw.

  • thanks man. I really respect your opinion. I've actually been using the g25 quite a bit recently

  • in terms of realism the porsche wheel is actually a replica of the a real porsche wheel making it the more realistic of the 2, other than that (and the fact I prefer the Porsche wheel by a slight margin) I couldn't agree more

  • I really hate the gear lever is connected to the steering wheel. Is there any separated version?

  • hmm I hear you on that, I think there is a shifter adapter than can connect it differently, but ultimately leads back to the wheel connection.

  • Nice little review! Lots of effort put in there.

From personal experience, G25 feels better in the "real" games (like GTR series and rFactor). The G25 has 2 motors which these games put into real use. Maybe there are tweaks for those games u were testing that would help maximise the output of the G25's features? NFS, Dirt and GT5 are very arcadish to use anything more than a keyboard/gamepad.

  • thanks man, appreciate it a bunch. I agree with you, the g25 has a really raw feeling, but have you tried the porsche one?

  • Is the Fanatec wheel's shifter made out of plastic?

  • is it just plug and play for you or do u have to do something

  • yaya i know that but like it will work everywhere but when i go to gameplay it doesnt. i go to options and like where all the logitech are there are no porsche i tryed to plug and play but no go when u try to race. iono whats going on

  • unfortunately the game doesnt support the clutch of any wheel as of now

  • its a matter of preference. the clutch has a great feel to it, the shifter has better resistance.

  • how do u make the porsche steeringwheel work for gran turismo 5 and dirt i plugged it in and evrything but it doesnt work during actual gameplay wtf am i doing wrong

  • hm it should work..im not quite sure why it wouldnt. Did you check the lights on the porsch usb stick? it should be on instead of flashing.

It should be pretty straight forward, try plugging it in before you start the game n letting it calibrate, then check the red and white light n start the game

  • where i live (netherland) the fanatec is DOUBLE the price of the G25, also (as far as i know) the G25 is older than the g25 so its logical the fanatec is better.

  • question.

can you disconnect the shifter from the wheel?

and does the using the shifter( since it has no mounting) is it wobbly or is it firm?

    reply asap

  • yes u can disconnect it.

i dont really notice it wobbling, but i suppose others are sensitive to it. They do have another mounting system now for those who think its too wobbly.

  • How can you ignore the fact that the entire wheel is wobbling all over the place when you use the H-shifter? The mounting of it blows. The two metal rods aren't able to keep it firm at all. You can even see it in your video. The strength of the 911 Turbo Wheel is the Force Feedback, which feels awesome. The shifter and pedals are, however, far better on G25. Yes, I have both too.

  • It really doesnt seem like a big issue to me, I dont really notice wobbling when im playing. I'd have to say that I like the 911 pedals better, they have more space and allow better heel toe action for me. Also the shifter on the g25 is a bit too weak, I suppose it'd be better with some modification. Oh and they developed new mounting attachments for people like you who have a problem with it.

  • Ok, I'll have to check out the new mounting attachment, cause I can't enjoy the wheel at all with the current system. :/

  • that makes sense, i think a lot of people had that problem, lets hope for the best.

  • good video that 911 wheel is nice, ill get it when I have a ps3

  • oh yeah its great for the ps3

  • Very good review, but I noticed that you had set the pedals to "combined axis", and then complained about it.

Does this mean that you haven't configured the g25 for the game you were playing? sounds kinda unfair too me as you configured the Porsche wheel a lot.

  • I actually had the g25 configured but not the porsche wheel, but all that is fixed now.

I should have a new update sometime soon

  • to me the G25 looks better

    but thats just me

  • to each his own

  • do they sell it in Australia?

i got a G25 last week and its GREAT

    $AU 285

how much is the 911 wheel?

    in australian

  • they should ship to australia although it is probably not in retail stores yet. Im not sure how much in $AU it would be, but its about 300 US

  • Where did you get that wheel from i cant find it anywhere.

  • u should be able to get it at the fanatec website

  • Very nice review, good work !

  • where do you buy it

  • fanatec website

  • it looks like the g25 is more of a simulater wheel, fanatec one looks more like arcade or something, only thing i dont like about my g25 was the shifter was to soft, but i fixed that by modding it. I never really had a problem with g25 ffb and by all means there is no reason to have stronger ffb, I use my g25 at 40%. If the porche is more smooth and real feeling then g25 then thats one thing that seems to be cool...nice vid overall :D

  • thanks a lot =) your thoughts are appreciated

  • nice vid THNX!!!

  • One question: I wanna buy one of those 2 wheels, but I'm not sure wether to buy the G25 or the Porsche Wheel. I could get the G25 for about 180, so I would have to pay 120€ extra for the Porsche Wheel. Is it worth it?

  • If you can get the g25 for 180, get it.

  • Actually I just got a list of all the improvements on the new Porsche Wheel, and everything I imagined that could be improved, has been. A g25 is great, and if thats your price range cool, but if you have the money wait about another month or so, I will have another review of the new wheel, with all improvements compared to the old one and possibly the g25

  • Hey, so they're gonna come out with a new and improved 911 model next month? Do you know if Logitech is going to release a new model as well?

  • Logitech has released a new model, but unfortunately it is not a newer model of the g25, just an official GT5 one, basically an improved DFP. They wont be releasing a new wheel up to par with the g25/fanatec 911 for at least another year

  • One question: I wanna buy one of those 2 wheels, but I'm not sure wether to buy the G25 or the Porsche Wheel. I could get the G25 for about 180, so I would have to pay 120€ extra for the Porsche Wheel. Is it worth it?

  • the gas pedal on the fanatec looks like it would break off but other than that i would buy it

  • Nice review, but I doubt I will exchange my g25 just yet. They both look to be amazing steeringwheels though, I guess you cant really go wrong with either of them

  • youre absolutely right.

  • I dont get where you found any information saying the force feedback on the fanatic wheel is stronger than the two motors on the g25?

  • I am basing it on the feel. Once you feel it for yourself you will understand.

  • The fanatec wheel is alittle bit more expensive and came out later than the G25, so they took the G25 wheel and added all then things that were not on it. I got the G25 cause it is easier to mod. and attach to a full racing sim that I am building. Including the dash board.

  • hm. It is quite different. I have never tried to mod the g25, do you have any pics or a clip? I would love to see it. =) Sounds cool.

  • nice job man i loved it,great vid.

  • yo i was wondering because i have a ps3 and i want to know how to connect the g25 with ps3 and i want to know if the force feed back will work and if u can can u tell me wut types of wires are their for the g25 so i can connect to ps3 plz!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  • its easy, just a usb and power plug. and yes force feed back works for the ps3.

  • yo and i heard theres a cd that comes with the g25 how do i install that to my ps3???

  • you dont need the cd for the playstation. only pc

  • Wow!! You got lucky on yours.

I'm still waiting to get mine in the mail.

The 911 wheel looks great! Even better than the pictures. In your video it still looks small compared to a real car steering wheel. Definitely a step in the right direction.

Can the shifter be mounted separately? (like the G25?)

  • you know what, i'm not too sure about that. I have read that they are still working on things like that.

  • I like yor vid but I hatethe fact that you hate your Logitech G25.. X /. The wheel has no buttons because it is similar to a racing wheel. And most of it is all of your own opinion. Also,I reallylike the vid but try to be fair next time! ; )

  • I dont hate the g25! I love it, Just trying to show some advantage points! Didn't really have enough time to put together g25 advantages..youtube only allows 10 minutes!

    >P

  • can you plug in the 6 speed shifter and use the sequential as a handbrake? or can only 1 shifter be used at a time?

  • i'm not too sure, You might be able to plug it both in, thatsa really good question, i'll try that.

  • hi, thnx for the review, looks like a very nice wheel, got another question, is it possible to pick your own turning angle in windows or you restricted to the 3 modes?

  • The three turning angels are on the actual wheel, depending on the game, there can be plenty of wheel settings. Like for LFS, you can set a ton of different wheel settings. To answer your question, I think it depends on the game. On the wheel itself though it can be set to 180, 360, and 900.

  • I thought you did a great job in showing what the wheels features are. You are very well spoken and did an excellent video edit compared to most others that post videos here. The G25 wheel is a great wheel but why not get a wheel with the extras if you are going to spend $250 to $350 on a wheel? The wireless is very nice and I like the button lay out and shifter. Well done!

  • That means a lot to me, Thank you! If you ever get a chance, test them both out, you will see what I am talking about!

  • u haven't answered my questions about the gear shifter. does the shifter come off those two metal bars or is it stuck in that position by design? if it is removable, is the cord long enough for it? also, can you tell us what differences does this BETA wheel have from the final version please? thnx

  • I am not an official tester, but I have heard that a lot of different things have been changed for the one to be released. Anyway, the gear shifter does come off, its switchable or you can take the bars out completely.

  • How does the shifter mount onto surfaces? Is it like the G25 shifter? Thanks

  • unfortunately im not too sure about the mounting of the shifter to surfaces. I think it might be a downside, but im looking into it

  • Fanatec has retired from the official FAQ the part where they say all the parts could be mounted in a cockpit using screws. Probably the gear could be mounted only using this two bars.

  • This could be a possibility..Good noticing.

  • dude i thought you were ferdinand porsche :) what a fanboy

  • lol >P

  • and is it a no go for f1 ce?

  • is that game only for the ps3? i tried lookin for the torrents for pc

  • how many different wheel turning sensitivity settings modes does it have? just two?

  • 3. 900 degrees. 360 degrees, and 180 degrees.

  • From what I see, it doesn't justify the upgrade for owners of G25. If you are between the two, and not a hardcore simracer, get the Porsche. It looks it's got many features and good quality, I just don't know from a simracers point of view, for a hardcore sim-driver how it performs.

Does it have good latency, good FFB? All that you didn't test. Looking forward for the next review, keep it up;)

  • You're right but I think it would be pretty good for hardcore sim racers too. I mean, maybe not ECCI hardcore, but yeah g25 level. If you already have the g25 it would be understandable to not want to upgrade, its expensive. The latency is the same as a wire, dont worry about it. In fact, anyone worrying about latency problems, do not worry. Forcefeedback is so much stronger and feels a bit smoother. Thanks for your positivity. I'll try to have some more

  • first review of the 911 wheel I've seen. Thanks cdcdude!

  • Thank you for the effort you've put in comparing the 2 wheels, but I really think you were quite biased towards Fanatec. I do own a G25 and I aggree about the crappy shifter and the mechanic noise when you are steering the wheel. But it is impossible for the Fanatec wheel to be better than G25 in ALL LEVELS. Because that's what your review suggestes. I didn't see even one tiny aspect that you liked better in the G25.

  • You're right, I realize that. I will post more later, this was just a video to basically show it off. Although I do not use paddle shifters much, I think the g25's are great.

  • nice review :) but the G25 is not 300.. its 250 now.. so 100 buks is a lot :)

i got G25 and i say Porshe looks way better.. and buttons are good design :) and shifter lookis like it shifts better.. and clutch too :)

but can you tell me... seems like the Porsche wheel does turns a lot slower... whenever u turn i hear it sounds like old GT wheel, and whenever u come out from a turn it turns too slowly and u force it to turn.. (not good for motor) is Porsche wheel like that?

  • I don't feel that it turns slower at all and I don't recall turning against the force, I will double check on that, I don't think so, to answer your question. The g25 is 250ish street price, but on the logitech site, and stores it is still 300.

  • hm...who wants canned engine vibration effects and who will use a wheel on their lap?

  • You're right, no one should play on their lap, it is difficult, but the lap wings do help. I used to try to play with the g25 on my lap with a pillow, all bad. You can adjust or turn off the vibration effects if you like.

  • is the gear shifter removable? in your video it's position is unrealistic. it should be mounted lower and farther back. i understand this is a beta wheel, what improvements have been made in the final version since?

  • A little more knowledge of the G25 would've helped this review. The G25 doesn't use 'vibration motors', the main motors already do that, it is just the job of the game to send such feedback. Console games don't give the greatest feedback like PC games do. Also, the wheel is really a MOMO designed tube, so it isn't 'unrealistic'. The Fanatec wheel has some strong points I agree, but small shifter paddles will bring far too many driving issues. In my opinion they are both pretty equal.

  • I really do like the g25 paddles, but I don't really use them much, along with the porsche wheel. It could be easier for what youre used to, in any case you should give it a test if you ever get the chance!

  • Yeah, the g25 really does have that after market wheel kind of quality, but when I first opened the box long ago, I was expecting something a bit bigger. It seemed super tiny and I didn't get that with the porsche wheel.

  • does it work with f1 ce?

  • not too sure, I will try it out if I can!

  • I will admit that I focused mainly on the fanatrc wheel and its advantages over the g25. I just figured that the g25 gas been out for a few years and already has reviews.. U should definitely give the fanatec wheel a shot before neglecting something with great potential. As for the arcade comment I have to disagree. The fanatec wheel has a much better ff feeling and the vibration motors are sensational

  • Heel and toe on 911 ? did you try it '?

  • yes, heel toe for me on this wheel is a lot easier.

  • Well you could have at least properly configured the pedals in LFS! Well granted the configuration view is extremely confusing but anyway!

  • I do apologize for that, it was really late and I wanted to finish up and go to bed. I just wanted you guys to see what it looks like and some nice features, didn't want to post it up and make it look like crap you know? anyway, if you can help me with the setup on lfs, i am quite confused. not as simple as the g25's. I was supposed to install a driver with the porsche usb fob, but it didn't work too well for me.

  • I sent you PM about wheel setup in LFS.

  • Hey guys, got it to work with LFS and let me tell you it is freakin sweet. If you have a racing seat use it! I was plannin on gettin a buttkicker but with the porsche wheel you dont even need one! and on LFS I actually need to use real heel toe action and it comes so smoothly. It is amazing. I'll try to have a video tonight!

  • cdcdude: Good review. Have you posted a text review in any forum?. Thanks.

  • Good idea I'll try to. I'm kind of disappointed in myself.. I stayed up all night tring to make a good review and the majority doesn't like it.

  • being able to customize the turning sensivitity "on wheel" and wireless functionality do make this wheel stand out and will allow it to work properly with more games.

  • no worries the sixaxis will own em both... haha j/k... they are both awesome good vid.

  • haha sixaxis dual shock for the win.

  • wow thanks for that, but did u had already an Opinion before testing.. it looks like to me. And you didnt testet the FFB enough IMO. but thanks so far. There will be more Test comin` from other ppl and i`ll w8 ;)

  • I suppose I did, because I saw many things in the g25 that could have been improved, which was what I tried to show in the video. The porsche wheel does have downsides, everything does. I will write about them, sometimes the buttons do get in the way, which can be a hassle. It would definitely be a good to wait, many g25 users have messaged me saying things like the g25 is a lot better but with no things to back it up? if you think this then please explain why!

  • HaHa, forget the G25 fanboys, there just wasnt really a alternativ to it, in the Price segment, yet. I was watchin this test, to find out if its better ;). U definatly made now a good Point about the Buttons. Driftors (^^) can be really annoyed by them i guess. Meanwhile u already know how to set up a Wheel in LFS, wich is pretty easy especially compared to GTR2 or these kinda ISI-Pysic-Sims :P thanks for that since LFS is atm and probaly the Future too,the Sim I`m using the most.

  • =) haha actually when i play LFS i dont have all the buttons activated so its not a problem at all on pc. =)

  • I had trouble installing it with LFS at first, but it turns out I didnt install a driver, which is on the Fanatec site. It works so well with LFS, I stopped playing my ps3 with the wheel. It is so much fun on PC sims.

  • I also actually was wondering too, about the size of it face to face with the g25 O.o ;)

  • haha yeah, i understand, i put them against eachother as well as i could, its pretty accurate on how much bigger it is.

  • wait wait. i can see that you dont have it set up properly in lfs. The gas and brake are on the same axis, which means you cant brake and be on the gas at the same time... i wonder if you had the other things set up properly.

  • I mainly wanted to show that it works with the game. I apologize for not tweaking the settings. As for latency.. I really cannot tell. Can u show me when perhaps? I will try to add more pc on of for you guys

  • Excellent video review... Pretty much all of the comments on the G25 where spot on but would like to see that you tested it more with PC simulations :)

  • Thx for the positive feedback guys.. I realize that I can't change everyones mind, but it seems like some aren't very open to the idea of a new wheel. Perhaps I will make another of just the fanatec wheel and what could be improved. It also seems that most negative comments are by g25 owners. I suggest you see the wheel in person before completely neglecting something with a lot more potential. For those who have neither try both out and see for yourself.

  • That is bombb. Thanks for the vid man, it helped out alot on my decision :P

Made me want to get the 911 wheel instead of the g25
