  • Jesus, there's an orchestra coming out of that there guitar.

  • Thanks to World Cafe and NPR, I heard his music. I hope he comes to Louisville, Ky. I'm hooked on his music style.

  • where can i find the lyrics to this song?....

  • John-thanx for the bourbon (and the bud).

  • As always-Excellent. A true rare talent! Thanks John for almost 30 years of your music and talent! Underrated, underapprecieated, overlooked.

  • reminds me of knockin on heavens door

  • @dylantoniazzi except it doesn't suck

  • @jench78 ahh knockn' on heaven's door is terrible

  • @dylantoniazzi I wish I could find a higher quality of this session. I listened to the studio version and I didn't like it so much.

  • Sure could use a hook. otherwise ... it could use a hook.

  • Fantastic.

  • Love this song. Love John Doe. Thanks for posting.

  • I think this is THE sexiest song EVER. *sigh*

  • It is impossible to overstate what this man's music has meant to me. In the depths of my loneliness, this voice kept me company. I first saw X in 1987 and then saw John Doe at McCabe's Guitar Shop (Santa Monica) countless times. His solo albums are fantastic. Now I sing his songs to my children as they fall asleep at night. What a catalog of music and what a treasure of words and emotions. This man was alt country long before they had a name (cowpunk?). No labels and no boundaries.

  • !!boring!!! yawn!!!

  • this rocks!

  • nice naive opinion

  • Beautiful! His songs have such depth and emotion, his voice takes me away...

  • Doe is the best. Saludos from Argentina

  • great song.

  • Did John Doe sing "I will always love you" in the country style in the film "The Bodyguard". I would so love to hear his country version!

  • yes he did - I just cant find that track

    any clues

  • Nice video. I got the opportunity to meet him in 1994-5 at a college bar. I stood next to him against the wall(not knowing who he was)and I talked harshly about the local band on stage. He looked at me and took a swig of his beer and said "Kid, I gotta go on stage and play. I hope you're not so harsh on me." His show was awesome! Cool guy!I think he opened for Juliana Hatfield?

  • THE CLOSING KIND IS MY BEST ONE

  • John Doe is the best. Such a talent. "Forever" is a treasure.

  • So glad John Doe is still rocking.

  • He is an american treasure. Keep the music coming John!

  • thx for this john doe should be a billionaire
